Monitoring has improved bandwidth insights and application diagnosis but setup and costs still need work
They need room for improvement about the spare parts. There are shortages in Egypt in their stock. We tried to make RMA for specific parts, and it took a long time. Comparing this to a vendor like Cisco, who provides any component next business day, NETSCOUT nGeniusONE took a long time. This needs more improvement. I believe it is expensive. They need to reduce its budget a little bit. Comparing to other solutions, it is very expensive.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The live packet capture feature enables quicker troubleshooting and better network monitoring."
"Network quality monitoring of multicast TV channels and other network monitorings."
"We have seen a measurable decrease in mean time to know and mean time to repair, and because the tool allows us to get to things a lot quicker and see things a lot quicker, we have actually reduced those times and it has definitely helped with our network uptime, with an improvement in uptime of at least 50 percent."
"This solution has cut our overall troubleshooting time by several days."
"In addition, I believe it has cut overall troubleshooting times for the OSS and DevOps teams, and it has increased uptime."
"This solution provides us with increased visibility while conducting IT deployments, for example, if we have devices which have overloaded or links which have saturated, then this tool tells us exactly what is going on with that link or device, and very few tools do it at this level for things like DDoS."
"The most valuable feature is visibility."
"It is a scalable product."
"NETSCOUT nGeniusPULSE has an easier dashboard to manipulate compared to SolarWinds."
"Visual TruView helped our network team respond to potential issues before they became larger ones."

Cons

"The web interface is ok, but I would like to see if it was possible to group jobs better and to create our own dashboards."
"The pricing could benefit from being somewhat lower for broader adoption."
"In terms of additional features, I would like to see better event notification. Right now, we put in an email address to receive an alert and it receives every event and every alert that comes out. We need something a little more granular."
"One of the products we use is SolarWinds, and it provides a very cool mapping of an agent from end-to-end. If NETSCOUT could somehow implement that into their design... make it quicker and easier to get those net paths, it would be huge."
"I would like to see improvement in the user experience. It's hard to manage it."
"I would like to see a multi-user version where you can have a launch platform and, potentially, instead of buying six licenses you buy 12 seats or something like that."
"Trying to set up dashboards is hard to figure out at times, if you don't do it every day."
"I would recommend enhancing the APM capabilities."
"Whilst Citrix could be handled better like their nGenius product line (which does an excellent job) it copes with the centralised type of deployment TruView covers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I don't know what the cost to buy the solution was, but I doubt if it's a significant part of the budget as far as the maintenance and support are concerned."
"I rate the price of NETSCOUT nGeniusONE a four out of five."
"I would like it to be more scalable with less spend."
"Licensing is flexible, it's not tied to anything else. We can easily switch up the licensing piece... Obviously, NETSCOUT is a little bit in the higher range, but it gives you value for money. You get what you pay for."
"This solution has saved us more than $50,000 a month and freed up 30 percent of our bandwidth."
"It is a little overall pricey and expensive, but you get what you pay for."
"Like any company, we always want better pricing. The pricing is okay, but it's not a cheap solution. When you want to deploy it across an enterprise as large as ours, you go into seven figures. It's not a cheap solution to get out there."
"It was pretty modest because you could get it in different ways. I think the six licenses, at that time, were about $1,000 each. But then again, I work for a school and educators tend to get discounts on things. So maybe it cost us about five or six hundred a copy."
