Centralized control has strengthened privileged security and simplified audit investigations
While One Identity Safeguard is a strong and reliable PAM solution, there are a few areas where it can be further improved to enhance user experience and scalability. Regarding the user interface and experience, the UI, while functional, can be a bit complex for new users. A more intuitive and modern dashboard with simplified navigation would improve adoption, especially for non-technical stakeholders. Regarding integration flexibility, although it supports major integrations, expanding out-of-the-box connectors for more cloud-native apps, DevOps tools, and SaaS platforms would be beneficial. Faster and simpler API-based integrations could reduce deployment efforts. Regarding scalability and performance in large enterprise environments, performance tuning and scaling can require additional efforts. Enhancing seamless scalability and high availability configuration would improve enterprise readiness.

Good value, easy to use, and easy to deploy
In terms of what can be improved, that is a question I think the end users can tell you better. I'm not the end-user for this system. However, I can say that it needs to be more scalable. I think they already have a good value proposition in terms of being a hybrid model, and the reporting is okay, as well. It could have better integration with other SIEMs, but this integration has to come from the SIEM side, not ObserveIT.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"One Identity Safeguard has improved our organization's security posture by providing centralized privileged access management, secure password vaulting, and session monitoring."
"It provides secure and centralized access to both on-prem and cloud servers, which we did not have before. Previously, there were myriad ways to access our servers, so this centralizing feature is beneficial."
"I have found One Identity Safeguard to be stable."
"The solution's most valuable features are the efficiency and the quality of the recording."
"Once set up correctly, it provides strong security, better control over privileged access, and improves auditing and compliance significantly."
"Now that we're able to audit log and record what is being done, we can play back all the sessions to make sure no type of unattended usage of the privilege or elevated credentials were being used, and from securing the bank standpoint, it has helped tremendously."
"Safeguard can define and update processes and procedures into the security framework of a company, including mobile. It allows us to change the policies and configurations on a mass scale in regards to security."
"Overall, we have likely reduced admin effort related to access management by forty percent, and from an operational efficiency standpoint, we no longer need to manage or rotate privileged credentials manually."
"It resolved security issues of the organization by providing audit reports and records to our customers."
"Customer Service: The ObserveIT professional services team has been excellent, extremely engaged and genuinely concerned with our success."
"ObserveIT is small, easy to use, easy to deploy, and is not complicated, so it's more generally suited for only SMBs. It's a good value with a cheaper price."
"Meta data search Alert generation."
"Overall, it gives a consistent and really good return on investment."
"All my clients are very pleased with this product as it helps them to keep track of what partners and employees are doing on the servers."
"Record videos that have a very small file size Management interface is very convenient and intuitive"

Cons

"Overall, One Identity Safeguard works well, but it could be improved in terms of UI simplicity and ease of navigation, especially for new users."
"Some of the out-of-the-box reporting isn't that rich."
"The multilanguage functionality does not support the Arabic language, even though this solution is deployed in an Arabic region."
"From a management point of view, it would be beneficial if One Identity Safeguard Privilege Password and One Identity Safeguard Privilege Session had a more similar interface."
"I tried to integrate Safeguard with the Oracle YAML as well as something else to manage the groups and users from a different system, like AD or LDAP. This one feature could be better."
"There is room for improvement in the launch module. They built in a launch button but they don't have effective instructions for configuring it to allow it to launch an RDP session. They're working on that, but the button is in the live product. If they were going to install something that wasn't useful, they should have just disabled it and not rolled it out with the product."
"I have encountered scalability issues. The system needs to be properly analysed before putting it into production."
"It takes some time to understand the features of One Identity Safeguard, and it would be more useful if it was easier to set up."
"The tool is still not providing records of tunnels established - we would like to see it in future versions."
"ObserveIT is not scalable and it's not for the medium to large corporations."
"OCR capability, support for Mainframe, Ticketing and Incident workflow."
"Ticketing and issue management. Based on the new system, one needs to go through the sales people."
"I had some problems with an instance of ObserveIT in a Proof of Concept, when I installed ObserveIT with an SQL Express instance and the DB used all provisioned space."
"ObserveIT is not scalable and it's not for the medium to large corporations. It's for the smaller environments. For the larger corporations, we have other scalable solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing depends on our perspective, our budget, and, of course, the competitors we are taking into account."
"We bought their other products, so it was not that expensive. It is one of those where the more you buy, the cheaper it is."
"Setup cost, pricing and licensing are all very expensive."
"They have comparable pricing. All identity products are essentially priced in a similar way. It's a per-user base."
"We have a yearly license. The cost depends on how much a company wants to invest in technology. In our organization, we believe in modern digitization and automation processes so we found it affordable. One Identity was not that much less than other solutions and it is not a cheap solution. There were number of cheaper solutions. However, it's the most effective, according to our evaluation."
"The license is around $3,000 per month."
"The pricing is about $80,000 per 100 servers. There are few elective costs."
"One Identity Safeguard is expensive and the cost goes up as we scale."
