Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

I also like the ability to remotely manage update packages on your systems, and the fact that there is an open source version
Setting OpenEDR was challenging at first, but I got it done by following their documentation and online videos. You need to install the client and configure it to work with their online open platform. Next, you have to configure it on the device if it's a phone. You input a cloud link to the EDR, so you can monitor it from the cloud. There isn't any maintenance aside from updating the client. It's mostly on the cloud.

Automation has reduced alerts and freed the soc team to focus on faster incident response
Regarding mean time to respond, the improvements I see with SentinelOne Singularity Complete are that genuine files also get alerts. We are getting false positives, but we are also getting genuine true positive alerts. The improvement will be deep visibility because as I am using Splunk as a SIEM, I compare deep visibility with Splunk, but deep visibility has limited access with only a 14-day policy to retain logs. The improvement will be in overall policy management. The third point will be the complexity of policies. If we want some endpoints to use only USB or if we need to block USB on some points, the policy management is very complex. The fourth point will be that Mac OS and Linux don't have the rollback policy; that policy is only for Windows. These four points are improvements if SentinelOne Singularity Complete can address them. Data privacy and security when utilizing Purple AI is crucial for SentinelOne Singularity Complete, and SentinelOne Singularity Complete lacks in data security. Data security is very important in this world. In my organization, if we deploy SentinelOne Singularity Complete and we have integrated all the firewalls, all devices, and AWS devices to SentinelOne Singularity Complete, logs will be forwarded to SentinelOne Singularity Complete through SentinelOne Singularity Complete. However, SentinelOne Singularity Complete doesn't have data security solutions such as Forcepoint DLP or 48 layer; SentinelOne Singularity Complete doesn't have that DLP solution. From the data security point of view, SentinelOne Singularity Complete is not good.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Stability is one of the features we like the most."
"One of the things that I enjoy the most is using policy extensions. It's like having host firewalls to control USB connections. I think it's a wonderful tool to restrict use when connecting to our computers. Another important tool is Home Insights. That is an add-on to the Cortex solution. I like that because we can see all the vulnerabilities in the environment and control what assets are connected to our network."
"After deploying Traps, we saw the performance of the network improve by 65 to 70 percent."
"It has absolutely improved the way our organization functions, we are more secure, it is giving us more peace of mind, and it has found malicious activity happening on our endpoints that probably would not have been detected if we didn't have it."
"They did what they said, and this solution could apply to any scenario."
"The integrations are out-of-the-box, as are the playbooks."
"It is a simple platform to use."
"They did what they said. This solution could apply to any scenario."
"Comodo includes a firewall and antivirus in one solution. I also like the ability to remotely manage update packages on your systems. Comodo can even find a lost device and secure it remotely."
"I have been a Mac guy for twenty years, and the feature parity and the capabilities of a Macintosh agent are unparalleled in the industry. It is the first anti-malware and antivirus that does not make you feel that you bought the wrong processor. It is really good and lightweight."
"It is easy to collect and retain logs with SentinelOne."
"The portal is the most valuable feature because it provides us with a single pane of glass view and is highly intuitive."
"I really like deep visibility. Deep visibility is one of the coolest features of almost any tool that we use. The breadth of data that is collected there is valuable, and it gives us the ability to search back through literally tons of data going back a specific period of time."
"This technology is perfect for us."
"The way SentinelOne works and the way it is set up, I haven't been more impressed by any other product."
"I believe Singularity Platform is perfectly fine overall."
"The most valuable features are the quick action and restoration capabilities."

Cons

"While using Cortex, I noticed some aspects that could be improved, such as increasing the synchronization speed between XDR and Xnor."
"We had a problem with getting our older endpoints up to date, but their newest updates have been really good."
"I feel that it should not be a licensed activity because a feature should allow us to see applications running on end devices."
"There are some default policies which sometimes affect our applications and cause them to run around."
"The dashboard is the area that needs to improve so that we can have the ability to drill down without having to go elsewhere to verify results."
"In an upcoming release, the solution could improve by providing hard disk encryption."
"It'll help if customization was easier."
"There is a severe gap in functionality between Windows, Linux, and Mac versions."
"Comodo includes a firewall and antivirus in one solution. I also like the ability to remotely manage update packages on your systems. Comodo can even find a lost device and secure it remotely."
"Sometimes, these customized solutions our developers develop also get flagged in real time, and the processes get stopped and are blocked, and we have to whitelist the processes."
"We have had some stability issues with SentinelOne due to Windows 10 feature updates; it should be more stable."
"A weakness seen with one large customer was that the detections were too intrusive, blocking many applications that should have been working, which led to many false positives."
"The volume of shadow copies becomes too large and we have to manage that."
"Technical support from SentinelOne is somewhat dependent on the engineer you are assigned. Some TAC cases are solved in a good time, but some cases faced challenges because the engineer was not competent or was not able to understand the issue or take it to its logical conclusion."
"The automation of certain features could use improvement. For example, it seems common sense to me that if a threat was executed out of a task in your task scheduler that part of neutralizing the threat would be removing that task from the scheduler."
"I am not a fan of the UI and feel it has room for improvement."
"SentinelOne could improve by reducing the price."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Traps pays for itself within the first 16 months of a three-year subscription. This is attributed to OPEX savings, as security teams spent less time trying to identify and isolate malware for analysis as a result of a reduction in malware incidents, false positives, and breach avoidance."
"I don't have any issues with the pricing. We are satisfied with the price."
"It's way too expensive, but security is expensive. You pay for your licensing, and then you pay for someone to monitor the stuff."
"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. In indirect ways, we saw the return of investment in terms of performance and user satisfaction increase."
"Compared to CrowdStrike, Cortex XDR is an expensive solution."
"The tool's price is moderate."
"Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is quite an expensive solution."
"I don't like that they have different types of licenses."
Information not available
"For our use case, the solution is affordable. There are not any hidden fees."
"The tool's price is reasonable."
"It was cheaper than McAfee, which was a way to convince management to go with the solution."
"When we were checking out different platforms, we did get a price from Microsoft, and it was unreasonable. SentinelOne was definitely reasonable and worth the money."
"The solution's price/performance ratio is reasonable."
"There are cheaper options out there that I know are not as effective. I have administered several of them, not for this organization but for others. The thing I like about SentinelOne is that I know that if it raises an alert, it is worth looking at, so we are not dealing with a lot of false positives. It is rare."
"Its pricing is competitive."
"The pricing for SentinelOne Singularity Complete is competitive."
