Even moving the service over to another server can be done very easily. Although, having the ability to automate some things would be nice.
Customer Service: Customer service is 10/10. The sales rep I dealt with was great and always stays in communication. Technical Support: Technical Support is 10/10. They have a chat window, where you can start a chat after you log in to your server if you are having a problem. They even have a way to create a ticket from the login screen in the configured options, in which you can attach logs directly.

Have faced limitations due to high costs but have maintained reliability over time
The primary issue is the pricing, which is very expensive for my company's budget. We cannot afford to pay such a large fee. We are not Microsoft or BMW; we are a small company. As a small company, I have no power to negotiate directly with VMware. Perhaps larger companies have more opportunity to contract directly with VMware, but I do not have that leverage. The only path I can follow is to change solutions. Net.spA is a company working in the field of waste management. We are not a technological company, so we do not have a large margin to justify purchasing and maintaining the VMware infrastructure at current costs.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ability to analyze my virtual infrastructure data against a rule base of 730+ rules has been the most valuable."
"For me, the most valuable feature of vROps is its reporting. We use the reports to send information to certain groups within our company to help forecast the use of resources."
"One of the most valuable features is the ability to perform 'what-if' scenarios."
"All our capacity management and capacity planning processes are based on vROps."
"It gives us the ability to look into problems which are happening within the environment, helping us mitigate those problems more quickly and see where the issue is coming from, as well as what other systems or components could be affected."
"It allows for a bit more transparency regarding consumption and it also helps us plan ahead."
"Now, with vROps, we can see all the dependencies that are part of that server, avoid outages by identifying clusters that are running out of resources before they do, and in real time provide management with reports that visually justify why we are asking for more resources."
"vROps allows us to quickly get an overview of what's going on in the environment, without even having to know too much."
"Because we're only using the foundation version, it's really nice to be able to have the one spot to look at all the details over the last six hours, troubleshooting, tagging on the performance statistics together."

Cons

"Having the ability to automate some things would be nice but is not a requirement with the product today."
"I would like to go back in history on the performance data and blank out some of that performance data so that it isn't used in calculations."
"Where the product could improve would be the UI."
"There is a lot of stuff which is hard to read and understand. I must do a lot of research to understand what is going on with the hardware."
"It's complex to manage because there are a lot of options and metrics. It's complex when you want to do something very specific."
"A reporting engine would be good, where the database could dump into something like Splunk integration, so we could write our own reports."
"We had an issue a couple weeks ago, opened the case and the person never responded. I escalated twice and we finally got a call back the day I provided this review."
"VMware vRealize Operations (vROps) should improve instant monitoring. Currently, the monitoring is on an interval of five to ten minutes, if I want to know what is happening now I cannot."
"The solution could improve by having more APIs, customized alerts, and documentation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"There's a smaller category that stands out due to its affordability, especially for recent versions, which I rate as four or five in terms of value. However, if you're looking for a vCenter with older, more advanced features, it comes at a significantly higher cost, and I would rate it around ten. They provide us with a choice between a recent version and one integrated, and I lean towards the former."
"The pricing: It's expensive."
"Don't overallocate! This means that you don't have to buy many hosts. You can save money that way."
"The solution has a huge cost. If we could just have one license covering everything that vROps can do, that would be great. I would prefer it this way."
"The initial costs are a bit on the higher side but the licensing is flexible."
"The pricing is a little bit expensive. Licensing is an issue because there are always changes, and by that I mean cost increases. And that's not only for vROps but for VMware, vSphere, and all the products that are involved."
"The solution has helped to reduce the time to troubleshoot issues."
"Get the right licensing and increase your licensing as you upgrade and grow. If you get the wrong licensing, it will be expensive, especially if you plan improperly."
