Automated provisioning simplifies deployment and integration
The Oracle Database Appliance is customizable and has excellent features.I don't have any problems with Oracle Database Appliance because this product is very automated, with scheduler and automatic processes throughout. You can make small inferences and changes for creating all the specific modifications. The automated provisioning feature helps speed up the database deployment process because you can use one command or option to resize all the disks or increase memory, depending on the occasion. The Oracle Database Appliance has integration in OCI Cloud. The same services simplify all the manager work regarding backups, configuration, resizing disks, and other services. Deploying the Oracle Database Appliance both on-premises and in the cloud offers the same simplification. You simply input your database name and specify memory quantity, CPU quantity, and database size. The process is identical for both on-premises and cloud deployments. The flexibility of Oracle Database Appliance has helped grow business needs for many customers. Using the Oracle Database Appliance has positively impacted my organization because I can deliver it much more comfortably. Creating a database involves many processes, but with this solution, you just input the name and configure the network and other parameters. It is very similar to RDS in AWS services, where you specify the name, choose the engine, indicate parameter groups, VPC, subnet groups, and proceed. Both Oracle Database Appliance and RDS have greatly simplified the work.

Have achieved excellent performance and seamless integration with effective cost control in cloud solutions
When customers are migrating from Oracle Exadata Express Cloud Service and need to remove some of their test and development environment, what happens in normal virtualization is that they can just switch it off, but in ExaCS, they need to terminate the entire thing. Most of the customers are not aware of this, so they keep spending money even if they want to shut down their UAT environment or development environment, so Oracle needs to make it simpler in terms of reducing the bill on ExaCS when customers want to shut down certain environments. Today, you have to terminate the entire VM, and only then your billing will stop. The only functionality I would expect from Oracle Exadata Express Cloud Service is that if Oracle is able to support Oracle MySQL Enterprise also on Exadata, that will solve a lot of problems.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution for our Java applications."
"Oracle Database Appliance is user-friendly, and it is easy to understand the query."
"In Turkey, there are some highway toll collection systems that use Oracle Database Appliance."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is the ability to combine all the data without the need for additional devices."
"The most valuable features of the solution revolve around its performance, simplicity, and its installation phase."
"Oracle has good technical support."
"The solution is stable. The product is scalable. The technical support is very helpful. The initial setup is straightforward. I consider the product a strong solution for our customers."
"Once received, you can unpack it, rack it, install it in less than one day and having a fully usable machine very quickly."
"In the cloud, Exadata is more scalable. The on-prem version was limited. It wasn't that scalable because it only came in a quarter rack, half rack, and full rack. In the cloud, it scales to what you need."
"I like that Oracle Exadata Express Cloud Service is easier to use and is a cost-saving solution because you won't need to hire people to run and maintain it."
"With this cloud service, a development team can get a database immediately, without long negotiation with other services."
"What is most valuable about this solution is there is no comparative solution by any other vendors."
"I would rate Oracle Exadata Express Cloud Service ten out of ten for its overall solution."
"It is a scalable product."
"I highly recommend Oracle Exadata Express Cloud Service as a very good solution if you can afford it."
"One of the most valuable parts of the solution is the high availability within the system and the performance enhancement without making any changes or fine-tuning the databases."

Cons

"The biggest disadvantage of this server is its availability when you patch the whole machine, i.e. when you patch the entire ODA firmware, not the databases within it."
"Over the past couple of years, I’ve found that the quality of Oracle Support first-level has decreased."
"I would like it if the scalability could be increased without having to change versions."
"In terms of what can be be improved, I'd say Artificial Intelligence, AI. It would be really helpful if AI was incorporated within the solution."
"We would like the ability to add more storage without having to upgrade to Oracle Exadata."
"Patching cycles have many bugs that need to be addressed."
"Oracle Database Appliance has not impacted my organization positively."
"Oracle is a Ferrari. A Ferrari is an unreliable and expensive machine."
"Scaling Oracle Exadata Express Cloud Service can be done, but the process is a little tedious, which could be an area for improvement in the solution."
"The customer's default choice is the on-premise version of this solution. Oracle needs to market the cloud version better."
"The only downside is the difficulty in monitoring, and that's why I would like to implement MySQL database."
"The customer's default choice is the on-premise version of this solution. Only when Oracle or the partners like us, can explain to customers the cloud value proposition, and if the compliance authorities allow, they can look into this cloud solution. It will take some time for Oracle to change its perception of customers' de-facto standards. Exadata used to be treated as a black box, which is not the case now. The customer is aware of what is happening inside, how the configurations have been made, and what patching has been applied. Oracle needs to market the cloud version better."
"We use artificial intelligence for deep learning, and it would be a huge benefit to implement this in Oracle Exadata."
"The support must be faster."
"Customer Service: I had no answer when asking why the Customer Support Identifier is invalid Technical Support: The Customer Support Identifier provided was invalid. This means that I had no support, unfortunately."
"The solution's pricing could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate the pricing a four on a scale of one (high price) to ten (low cost)."
"You must pay for the license."
"Oracle’s pricing is ridiculously high."
"Leverage the Pay-As-You-Grow licensing, and consider using the ODA X6-2 S/M/L models also for SE2/SE."
"Oracle Database Application's support and maintenance are included in the contract."
"Oracle Database Appliance is a very expensive solution. If you have opted for the on-premises licenses from Oracle, then you have to pay yearly. If you have opted for the cloud subscriptions offered by Oracle, then you can pay either monthly or yearly."
"The solution's pricing is very high."
"The price of the solution should be less expensive. However, they will increase the price more."
"The tool is not cheap, but it is not really expensive."
"I think Oracle pricing is usually above average market price."
"The price of this solution is very comparative to others on the market. There is no direct comparison between this solution and with something else because I do not see any other similar product."
