The weaknesses I would like to address in Oracle Enterprise Manager involve the dealing of Grid Infrastructure. Oracle Enterprise Manager's handling of Grid Infrastructure needs some improvement. I want to see additional features in the future that deal with security in relation to Oracle Grid Infrastructure. I want to improve these two components.

The features of Oracle Essbase are valuable, such as its multi-dimensional database used for dynamic calculations and reporting purposes. These features are valuable because they support multi-dimensional data views, allowing users to analyze relationships across various data categories and establish a comprehensive perspective on business operations. Moreover, dynamic calculations allow real-time data analysis, significantly improving the accuracy and depth of financial insights. I have utilized Essbase's data aggregation capabilities. The Oracle Essbase interface provides a good user experience, allowing users to easily navigate and analyze data with fast query performance, effective data visualization tools such as charts, graphs, and tables, and flexibility for customizable analysis and reporting, including the ability to create ad hoc reports. The benefits of the interface include improving productivity and enhancing decision-making.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is the automation of the alerting, so we can be proactive when we use that program instead of being called in the middle of the night because something is wrong."
"It is one of the best, state-of-the-art products from Oracle; truly a single pane of glass to manage IT infrastructure."
"With standardized monitoring templates and incident rule sets, we are able to consistently monitor, manage and alert all DBAs in each group to the same level SLA for our customer's needs."
"If your database scalability is more or if your infrastructure is as big as the product we have, Oracle is the only solution out there."
"It is a very good Oracle tool which enables us to incorporate all the databases throughout our environment, set up several rules, monitor from there, and perform almost any operation with one click of a button, making life easier and freeing our time from mundane tasks."
"The ability to scale is excellent."
"One can think of Database Consolidation Workbench OEM 13c as the “Holy Grail” of Database Consolidation."
"I think the look and feel and the accessibility to the databases, the scale of environment support."
"Essbase is extremely stable and low-maintenance."
"The solution is scalable."
"It is my opinion, it is more comfortable in Oracle rather than a SQL server."
"It is very fast compared to other normal databases, like SQL and MySQL."
"Its multidimensional analysis is great; unlike relational, where you're linking together multiple tables, with Essbase, you basically define what the dimensions are beforehand, and you define the hierarchy, and then load the data, allowing you to do sophisticated analysis so that you can drill into it and slice and dice the data."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"I have found the most valuable aspect is the user-friendly environment and current features."
"Essbase is a powerful tool that continues to provide value for companies."

Cons

"We would like to have a single dashboard for monitoring and controlling all of our products. This would add value, for us, because as it is now, we have to go to different screens to check different products."
"Customer Service: 2 out of 5. I often choose to open an SR as a last resort."
"If it had more drill-down facilities, that would be great."
"Setting up the Oracle Enterprise Manager is challenging as it requires setting up a separate server."
"I would like to see Oracle address the multi-data center monitoring and management in a more seamless way where management services are easily spread across the data centers like they can be today, but address the single database repository that can only exist in one data center at a time."
"More flexibility in terms of the user being able to customize a little bit instead of having it so standard. That would be helpful."
"The platform's interface could be more streamlined. Currently, there are multiple ways to navigate to a specific point, which can be confusing."
"The monitoring feature should be improved, so that it may be used as a dependable monitoring solution, as well as a deployment solution for SPARC-based hardware and operating systems."
"Sometimes, the current program is slow. They may have to consider the storage and the RAM, increasing the speed and performing the queries at a faster speed."
"The initial setup is pretty complex."
"The solution could be cheaper. It is costly, and the initial setup could be simplified."
"The technical support for EPM is bad. I don't remember anytime that the service support helped me in something."
"I would like to improve calculations by optimizing performance and reducing processing time."
"I find managing the database difficult, especially regarding optimization and data storage with the huge volume of data."
"They should improve the solution's performance."
"It's not a very scalable solution."
