An easy-to-manage solution that has really good customer support compared to other market players
VMware Workstation makes it easy to manage all the resources that we are handling. VMware Workstation has reduced our infrastructure cost. If someone wants machines, I can create them easily using the solution. VMware Workstation is easier to manage than other workstations like Oracle Workstation. VMware Workstation is an easy-to-manage solution, and its support is really good compared to other market players. Overall, I rate VMware Workstation an eight out of ten.

"In terms of server provisioning, it only takes a few clicks of a button and a bit of install automation."
"If you want to access the VM from anywhere over the Internet, you put it in a public subnet. So, VMs are linked to that. The subnets are linked to it. So, it's perfectly secured if it's a private network. The security is set."
"The ability to live migrate VMs on the fly from one hypervisor to another has been very useful."
"The most valuable features of VMware Workstation are the DirectX support, you can run Microsoft Hyper-V in virtual environments which is good for me to test different installations. Additionally, you can set up different VLANs, and overall it is a complete solution."
"The most valuable features of the VMware Workstation solutions are the ESXi and vCenter."
"It is much more mature compared to Nutanix or SimpliVity when it's cross-platform based."

Cons

"Oracle VM should be more feature-rich."
"The response time and quality of support could be improved."
"It doesn't monitor everything, which is a little bit more difficult. It doesn't seem to have as many features or metrics to monitor as some others do, so you have to make some homemade scripts to do it."
"The documentation for implementation could be improved because we were not able to find an easy way to implement our company's features due to a lack of understanding."
"The product could improve network virtualization and hardware utilization functionalities."
"One is the hypervisor. Right now, it’s all using Xen. What would be really helpful is to have some choice, and the underlying hypervisor technology use KVM which is very popular with certain workloads."
"The price of VMware Workstation is an area of concern where improvements are needed."
"The support can be improved."
"They could add more integration between them, and compatibility with the standard virtualization format."

"VMware Workstation could improve the export and import of virtual machines."
"There could be more integration with different tools."
"The problem we are facing with stability is that the network adapter causes crashes of the VM when we're using it for developing purposes."
