Protects against threats by quickly identifying insider risks and compromised devices
Palo Alto should explore agentless approaches to integrate DNS Security more easily and efficiently. The existing system sometimes presents challenges with backbone routing, impacting productivity. An agentless approach could be more lightweight and user-friendly. Additionally, there is a need for improvement in the pricing model for support and license renewals.

Provides basic email protection features but needs improvement in learning capabilities
TitanHQ does a middle-of-the-road job like Bitdefender and SensorNet, and it has a learning feature, though it's not as advanced as previous technology. In the past, I used a far superior product with no false alarms and minimum spam. This tool learned quickly from my inbox, offering simple yet useful features, such as two links embedded in the email footer indicating whether the email was spam or not.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We now have insight into our DNS requests and we can actively see how many thousands of malicious requests have gotten knocked down in the last day or week that we didn't have before. There's more insight for both security and more insight."
"The most valuable features of the solution are DNSSEC and the domain generation algorithm."
"The most valuable features of DNS Security include its ability to protect against command and control traffic, anonymizers, newly registered domains, and DNS tunneling."
"DNS sinkhole is a valuable feature."
"I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten."
"The stability is excellent and the product is very mature."
"The most valuable feature is DNS filtering."
"The most valuable features of DNS Security include its ability to protect against command and control traffic, anonymizers, newly registered domains, and DNS tunneling."
"Their report tool is the most valuable. By using the URL-base filtering, their reports give me a clear view of who is accessing what as well as which computer may have a virus or malware."
"It has been easy to understand and use customization options provided by WebTitan."
"It has been easy to understand and use the customization options provided by WebTitan."
"The solution offers very good self-authentication. It has a lot of protocols and ways to authenticate users by ID, or by Active Directory Integration. It's able to take credentials from the Active Directory Domain Controllers."
"The web content filter is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature is web filtering, where we are able to blacklist and whitelist sites on the fly."
"The DNS proxy is also valuable. It has nothing to do with blocking websites, which we can do by sending all our DNS requests through WebTitan. However, the DNS proxy gives us more information about the machine sending the request. If you cross-reference that information with WADA, you can determine which user is making the request and create a user-specific policy or profile."
"If someone is doing research and they're being blocked, and if we feel that it's a legitimate use, we can get them into the site they're looking for."

Cons

"Palo Alto should explore agentless approaches to integrate DNS Security more easily and efficiently."
"The pricing of the Palo Alto Networks DNS Security is very high."
"We would like to have cloud-based management."
"Sometimes, it blocks legitimate traffic for custom applications, requiring manual intervention."
"The solution’s scalability could be improved."
"I have found customer service to be quite problematic. The support is often outsourced, leading to delayed response times."
"The number of hotfixes indicates that there are many bugs in the new releases. Comparing a few years earlier, a release contained much fewer hotfixes."
"There should be an on-premise version of this solution."
"WebTitan could improve the software module and the platform's overall stability, and its competitors have a more sophisticated user interface. We have found some bugs as well as some issues with functionality and security that we've already forwarded to TitanHQ."
"I've been trying to install an OTG on Windows 7 machines, and I simply can't get it to work."
"Sometimes it has been a little cumbersome to get the whitelisting just right. But that would be the only thing I've had any problems with."
"The interface is a little dated and a little awkward at times. That's a minor problem. It's workable."
"It works for us, and I have no real complaints about it. It is self-intuitive, but it could have intuitive help where you don't have to email somebody asking how you do something. They might already have it, but I've never used it."
"I wasn't aware of WebTitan's Azure AD integration until now. The takeaway is that those types of enhancements should be broadcast from TitanHQ a little more openly than they are."
"There were a few little glitches in the beginning when rolling out the client app that resides on laptops."
"The only thing I can think to change would be to give more options under the various categories for what you want to be blocked. There should be a way to be super specific."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's pricing is equal to Cisco AMP or Cisco Umbrella."
"It is not an expensive solution."
"There is an annual license for the solution and I am satisfied with the pricing."
"Palo Alto Networks DNS Security is an expensive product. I rate the product's pricing an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten points are expensive."
"There aren't many vendors offering DNS security solutions, but generally, Palo Alto subscriptions tend to be more expensive than other security vendors."
"The product is expensive. My company makes payments on a quarterly basis towards the solution's costs."
"If one is very cheap and ten is very expensive, I rate the tool's price as two."
"The product is expensive compared to Fortinet."
"The pricing is good. It's a substantial cost, but they've held their prices over the years, which has been good."
"We pay an annual subscription for this. They have good pricing. They are not expensive compared to other solutions that we evaluated. I like the fact that it is just one price for the year. I don't have to worry too much about fluctuations."
"It's very reasonably priced. We don't have to go for a monthly plan or anything like that. There are no extra costs in addition to the standard licensing fee."
"There are lots of products out there, and most of them are a lot more expensive. Overall, I'm very happy with SpamTitan. It has been a great solution for a very small library."
"The pricing of WebTitan is good. It's the right price. We paid more and more for Cisco Umbrella."
"It's very aggressively priced, which is something that we definitely like."
"The cost could be lower, though it is not currently prohibitive for larger companies."
"WebTitan helps reduce costs associated with web filtering. In the event that somebody was compromised due to browsing the Internet, there will be at least one device offline. The time and energy spent cleaning that thing up and getting it back online, as well as having that user set up with some sort of a solution so they can continue working, makes it well worth the money. If a single device has been compromised, my time and the potential of having to buy additional hardware is worth at least a couple thousand dollars. Worst case scenario, if our entire organization or the majority of our organization got compromised, then it could get into the 50,000-plus for recovery. It depends on if it is a massive ransomware attack where it has pretty much crippled our entire business."
