Financial Planning & Analysis - Finance Manager at a engineering company with 501-1,000 employees
It has helped us speed up the turnaround time on our consolidation, and we haven't had anything come up that the program has not been able to solve
The part that we liked about Excel is that it had a better interface in terms of just graphical illustration of our results. So, if we wanted to look at our financial trends and put it into some type of graphical interface for people to look at, we still have to leverage Excel for that. The dashboards aren't as usable as maybe some of the other solutions, such as Tableau or other BI tools. The application that we use today for our BI tools is Tableau. That's how people absorb information. We don't really use the functionality or dashboards within Planful because of the robustness of Tableau. That's our single source of data. If Planful was better or more comparable in terms of features and functionality, we could probably leverage that in Planful.

Has reduced manual effort through customization and streamlined API-based integrations
The best features Sage Intacct offers include the import functionality, support for customization, and the platform that allows me to modify whatever I want. The triggers and reports are built very well and user-friendly, so I can modify this, and this is one of the best features it provides. The import functionality helps because once I download the template from Sage Intacct, I can fill out the specific columns with the data that I need to import into the system, and it will do the work instead of adding those details manually. The platform services allow me to add functionalities such as sending an email once I generate any AP bill or approve vendors. Additionally, I can call external API services or Sage Intacct API to validate those fields, which is good for users. Sage Intacct has positively impacted my organization through improved collaboration and saved time. I can import data easily, and since it is user-friendly, I encounter fewer errors. For example, the work I used to do in one or two days now gets completed in one or two hours.

Pros

"Planful has probably cut our time in half, given that we can now leverage the cloud-based services to interact with our subs for getting their forecast inputs."
"I believe the ROI is very high."
"It has helped us speed up the turnaround time on our consolidation. We don't have to do reporting in Excel anymore, which has cut down on the errors and the efficiency of our close time."
"Every client we have is very satisfied with the product."
"It's a powerhouse and it delivers. It has really great audit trails in it, which add so much value that the other systems don't have."
"I would say Sage Intacct is a great tool, and others looking into using it should evaluate how big their company is and if it is worth the amount they have to pay because it is a very robust system."
"Sage Intacct has impacted our organization very positively; we now have a good relationship with Sage Intacct and are working on new projects for Sage Intacct."
"Sage Intacct has positively impacted my organization by bringing clarity with reporting, providing opportunities for internal automation."
"Its custom reports feature is also noteworthy, as it provides flexibility for users to create their reports, tailored to their specific areas of expertise."
"The user-friendliness of Sage Intacct has helped my team and clients by saving customer time and our developers' and consultants' time; for instance, if a project takes 100 hours on Sage X3, it only takes about 60 or 50 hours on Intacct, allowing us to manage it from anywhere since it is cloud-based."
"The accuracy of accounting has improved by nearly 95%, and we save about three days of manual effort to prepare financial statements."

Cons

"Some of the behind the scenes processing for the simulation engines has a learning curve to use in that there are certain changes that need to happen for the reporting to be "Live"."
"The part that we liked about Excel is that it had a better interface in terms of just graphical illustration of our results. So, if we wanted to look at our financial trends and put it into some type of graphical interface for people to look at, we still have to leverage Excel for that. "The part that we liked about Excel is that it had a better interface in terms of just graphical illustration of our results."
"There's a little bit of room for improvement in the way that accounts payable approval workflows are set up. They could be a little more powerful than they are."
"The consolidation module lacks several features in setup, including the inability to create different sub-level entities, and it is very rigid and not customizable for adding different entities under one book, so we are trying to create multiple books."
"I wish Sage Intacct had a more robust interface with their help desk, as right now getting help with Sage is sometimes slow and clunky."
"Applying payments can be a bit difficult when we do comparisons, especially since we use AP adjustments and apply them to each other in a three-currency situation."
"I see room for improvement in Sage Intacct, specifically regarding reporting, as it should be more versatile with the data; more add-on data would provide many more options, especially since API calls can be quite difficult."
"Sage Intacct occasionally experiences lag while we are working online."
"I rate Sage Intacct seven or eight overall and less than five for Indian accounting because it is not compliant with Indian accounting, especially regarding taxation, withholding tax, and GST rules, which differ from what is represented in the software."
"In the next release, I would like to see greater integration with the RPA software that's been created."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Right now, everything is on a three-year term contract, and that is our main cost."
"Compared to other ERP systems on the market, it offers competitive and reasonable pricing."
"Sage is on the higher end of pricing."
"It's reasonably priced, offering fixed pricing, which is quite fair."
"The price is comparable to other companies which offer similar products."
