Has resources management and timesheets but could be more flexible
Compared to Broadcom Clarity, there was some flexibility with blueprints, etc. You can create a blueprint for different business groups or different customers. Planview AdaptiveWork doesn't have something like that. If they can build up something like a view price. It's still a traditional way where you have to create different instances for different customers. The PPM solution uses queries if I'm rolling out for different divisions. In that case, I have to create different instances for each region because each division may have a different look and feel. But if I have a blueprint, then it's very convenient. I can create multiple interfaces for different processes. Broadcom Clarity has some access control on those viewpoints.

Automation simplifies manual tasks and facilitates team communication
There are many useful features in Smartsheet. One can easily share plans with the entire team, and it functions similarly to Microsoft Project. Creating dependencies across all tasks is smooth, and team members can make adjustments if necessary. Automation helps by simplifying some manual work, saving time and facilitating communication.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Clarizen's strength is reporting. Aside from reporting, I also like the ability to create customized workflow and custom actions. The workflow rules are handy. For example, you can create custom fields and dependent picklists."
"Clarizen's reporting features have been critical."
"The feature that has improved our project planning the most is the ability to create custom workflows, which allows us to automate manual tasks that project managers need to perform. The collaboration feature enhances our team's productivity by allowing individuals to see the impact of their decisions on projects owned and managed by other teams."
"I like the project management solution."
"Slide Publisher has been a lifesaver for us; it saves us five to 10 hours a week."
"Clarizen Slide Publisher has helped increase transparency and communication with project stakeholders for us."
"I like the project management solution. It's really nice."
"Provides visibility into employee utilization, progress on specific client projects and a portfolio view of all programs."
"Smartsheet saves time for both me and my team; compared to Microsoft Project, which is more expensive, we save costs using Smartsheet."
"The solution has subtasks and a rollup."
"The most valuable feature of Smartsheet is its intuitiveness, ease of use, and overall simplicity."
"The solution is scalable."
"It actually worked way better than a shared drive."
"It is my favorite project management tool. The reason for that is that it is very flexible. It is much easier to use than Microsoft Project in terms of creating custom fields. It is very similar to Excel. So, people understand it, which makes it a little bit easier to use for most users."
"Smartsheet is scalable; we deployed it in 47 large distribution centers across the United States, and we had six projects running on it while the corporate office could view all of the projects at once because the program management option is terrific."
"The fact that you can have different access groups is definitely a pro for Smartsheet. It also has the ability to integrate with a lot of tools."

Cons

"I felt like the slide publisher isn't that user-friendly. I think it wasn't that easy to use or to figure out because of formatting constraints, or maybe we need to get better at understanding some of its limitations."

"If I start customizing too many things, Clarizen tends to get slow in our environment and especially if I'm tunneled in an environment, like if I'm connected to my VPN."
"One specific area for improvement could be implementing a development environment to test workflows with live production data."
"It could be more user-friendly. I think it is too overwhelming, initially, in terms of possibilities and so on."

"Have struggled with reporting and user adoption."
"I would like if Smartsheet allowed more formulas in its sheets. I don't think working with formulas is as intuitive as it is in Excel."
"I think it is all going to be about APIs in the future and I don't think Smartsheet is doing a lot in that regard. They have some integrations with Jira, but you have to pay for them."
"I'd like to see them add more features to their automation."
"Smartsheet could improve the UI and integrations. Some of Smartsheet's competitors have more than 2,000 integrations while Smartsheet only has approximately 40 integration applications."
"The main challenge with Smartsheet is that when you start putting components on the Smartsheet dashboard, they don't know about each other. So, if I filter something in one widget, or if I click on a region or a project ID, the other widget or component and the visualization that's on that dashboard don't change. It doesn't know about the other component."
"I think that the mobile interface needs to be improved. If you cannot access it through your laptop, I'd prefer to have that option on the mobile, but I don't think that it's user-friendly and easy to navigate."
"I think it's a little chintzy on what you get for that kind of money and any individual using it would want more than 10 sheets."
"If there was some way to store more complex files in the system, or if there was a back-end structure where you could store files, that would be ideal."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution is expensive."
"I believe a licensed user costs between 300 to 400 euros."
"Smartsheet only requires licenses for project managers. When we were using Asana, we had to purchase a license for everyone who wanted to access their tasks and use the system. That gets costly fast. It was one of the main reasons we left Asana. As Asana and these other tools scale, they become way more expensive."
"The solution is too expensive."
"Its licensing is on a yearly basis. I was responsible for negotiating the price with the Smartsheet team, but I don't remember what the price was. Its standard license probably was around 5,000 to 6,000 a year. The enterprise version is significantly more expensive."
"The tool's monthly fee is 25 dollars, which is within the range of most cloud-based project management tools. I rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten."
"There's a trial version and a free version. Each license costs a decent amount, $25 per month or something."
"This licensing is straightforward and they charge per user."
