A decently stable tool that ensures a high return on investment for its users

Precisely Assure MIMIX has improved our organization's disaster recovery efforts since my company has multiple LPARs. Precisely Assure MIMIX has around 45 LPARs for the database recovery, and I have one site-to-site replication for one of the servers in our environment, which is really good. The failover process of Precisely Assure MIMIX has enhanced our company's business continuity planning, considering that we have been testing the failover test area once a year and found out that the area revolving around recovery is good. When I was having a discussion on one of the online forums meant for Precisely Assure MIMIX around five years ago, which was even before the LAKEVIEW stuff was introduced by Precisely. Through the online forum, the team of Precisely Assure MIMIX helped my company deal with the area related to ServiceNow integration. I have never faced a scenario where Precisely Assure MIMIX prevented data loss during an unexpected outage in our company. I would ask those who plan to use the product to evaluate their own environment before purchasing Precisely Assure MIMIX. I rate the overall tool a nine out of ten.

A stable and economical solution that provides quick disaster recovery

The most valuable feature of Quorum OnQ is quick recovery. We call it a single-click recovery. If any server goes down, crashes, or experiences downtime, we can bring up the DR (Disaster Recovery) server in just two minutes. We also have a "Single Pane of Glass," wherein we work with only a single window. You don't have to use multiple windows to perform basic tasks like failover or failback.

"One of the most valuable features was the usability, since many of the features were very straightforward. The backup and restoration process was also very fast. Although we weren't able to fully test the scenarios, one of the features was that we could have it restored on a remote site. "When it comes to recovering what you need from a backup, it's really easy. You just drill through the directory, find the file and the date that you want, and click to recover. You then pick the directory you want to save it in. Usually, it takes a minute or two and it's done. It's quick and easy."

"It does automated tests to the systems to make sure that you could spin them up if you needed to. And if something doesn't come back up in those tests, we get a notification saying the system didn't come back up."

"One of the biggest features is that, even on the absolutely run-of-the-mill box, if I lose any one of my servers I can automatically bring it up virtually on the physical onQ Quorum device."

In some of those cases, people's computers were locked down by viruses which spread to things they had access to, including server shares. But we were easily able to just restore to four hours prior, instead of a day or two or more ago."

"It does data manipulation language (DML) replication, but it does not do data definition language (DDL) replication. In my opinion, it is a disadvantage. It would be nicer if it was able to do both DML and DDL. I'm not 100% certain of this, but it seems Oracle Golden Gate does both DML and DDL. MIMIX only does DML, and it would be very nice if they included DDL replication. This is one feature that would be very helpful to have."

"The high cost of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required."

"The one thing they could do is some tweaking on the web solution that's supposed to monitor everything from one page, rather than having to bring each server up on its own webpage. It doesn't always accurately show what the system's state is at the time, and we have to restart that process now and then."

We were exploring the product in terms of having a partnership with the distributor so that we could operate as a service, but for our own use, within the company, we couldn't justify the price unless the servers would become an option later on.
