In-memory data storage boosts performance
The advantages compared to other BI tools show architectural differences. The main feature is that it keeps all the data in memory. It doesn't retrieve the data from data sources when I need it on the dashboard; instead, it quickly provides the desired data, making it very fast compared to other BI tools. The ROI is very high using Qlik Sense. It offers many benefits of BI. It is flexible from a developer's point of view, allowing me to accomplish many tasks compared to other BI tools. From an end-user perspective, it's convenient and performance-oriented, providing something meaningful from all the organization's data.

An easy scalable, highly stable and user-friendly tool useful for operational reporting
It is an on-premises solution, so you just need to install it and continuously keep clicking on the next option until the installation is done, making it not so tough. Things work out pretty well as long as the various connections needed for the installation are managed properly. The solution is deployed on-premises. For deployment, it takes two to three hours maximum for any kind of new upgrade version. Two or three engineers are required for the employment process because sometimes you need to take the backup, for which you might have to involve the infra team. In terms of application, we are the only ones who can handle the deployments.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The drag-and-drop dashboard builder is an intuitive interface for building dashboards from source reports."
"From siloed reports, we went to a centralized knowledge hub, combining cross-functional data, and helping decision-makers see the data as a whole, therefore making more informed decisions."
"The ETL component allows us to pull from many different sources, making pulling data in easy."
"My organization now has data from disparate systems at their fingertips in a way that lets them get the answers they need when they want it."
"Qlik Sense provides features to manage and govern data, ensuring data security, accuracy, and regulation compliance."
"Qlik Sense is essentially a web-based tool even though it's on-prem – you're working off an HTML page – so it's pretty quick. Your processing speed does not matter because you're using a lot of stuff through the web. That's great because it brings down the cost in regards to hardware."
"The flexibility of Qlik Sense and the addition of 3rd party extensions allow us to extend the use of Qlik Sense beyond analytics and bring the platform to the core of our digital workplace, augmenting analytics with workflow, and team collaboration."
"The product has many great features like easy and fast implementation, flexible data loading, and in-memory processing, but the Set Analysis is what I think is the most valuable. It makes the product very powerful."
"The most valuable features of the solution are its stability and user-friendliness, making it easy to manage."

Cons

"If a team wants to keep track of source code changes, there is not an out-of-the-box solution for it."
"I would like to see more types of visual elements and better configuration options for additional flexibility when developing charts."
"There are occasional stability problems, but Qlik support is excellent at correcting anything that arises."
"The only thing I would like to see is the ability to create a master app that opens when a user creates a new app that has all the master items, colors, logos, etc., that my organization uses. This would help with keeping master items the same across the apps and would make development a little quicker."
"I would like to see improvements in the Qlik Sense SaaS version, particularly in the front-end capabilities."
"Ad-hoc reporting capabilities would be ideal."
"More pivot table options, like the ability to have the totals row at the bottom of the table, would be helpful."
"Data modelling automation needs improvement."
"The product lacks the ability to manage universal connectivity, so it needs to be made better for users."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Qlik Sense pricing and licensing is like that of QlikView. It's on the high side for a small company, but it’s competitive among its peers. Use of licenses (referred to as tokens) is a bit confusing. There is a login access pass for infrequent or anonymous access."
"Qlik Sense is pretty good in terms of price."
"For personal use, the desktop version of Qlik Sense is absolutely free, and you can share visualizations with others and to a personal cloud space, though limited with storage space."
"Start small with tokens. You can always buy more."
"QlikSense offers a Hybrid environment architecture, which is very cost effective based on where the enterprise data resides."
"Qlik Sense and its pricing model can follow any scalability."
"You need to pay 5,000 Norwegian kroner per user. Microsoft Power BI is slightly more expensive than Qlik Sense."
"You will spend more time on educating your staff than licensing the product."
"The product's pricing falls on the spectrum's cheaper side, excluding its licensing cost. The product's pricing is good compared to other tools in the market. My company makes payments towards the licensing costs of the product on a yearly basis."
