Daily invoice analytics has become streamlined and complex data modeling is now simplified
We are not using analytics features and possibly predictive analytics and forecasting features in QlikView, although they are available. QlikView is very flexible, but we are currently using only tabular presentation of data because that is what we need. Presenting a large volume of data in QlikView with graphics can be overwhelming for the majority of people who want to see a lot of information in one picture. It would be beneficial to have AI or ML features in QlikView. However, I think they will decommission QlikView, and AI features are already available in Qlik Sense, so you would need to migrate to that platform.

The integration of TIBCO Jaspersoft with some data sources has limitations that I encountered, and it was not very straightforward. This was one of the concerns with TIBCO Jaspersoft. The limitations include compatibility with some drivers where we do not have adequate JDBC drivers, and because of that, I am not able to make the connection pool. I do see a negative side in terms of support. I am a little disappointed because when we report any defect, it takes time to get a resolution. There are also limitations on some connectors where we do not have connectivity established. These are the few issues I faced while using TIBCO Jaspersoft.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"If you are looking for dashboards and do not have a data warehouse yet, QlikView is the best option."
"Scripting as per a customer's need, which is a pretty cool feature and not available in other tools."
"QlikView development projects are rapid and the product itself is very flexible and reliable."
"The productivity-to-cost ratio is much higher with QlikView."
"QlikView is an excellent reporting and data discovery tool."
"Comparing it to development on Microsoft Access, it feels about 10 times quicker."
"The language support is very good."
"I think it's the best data analysis/discovery tool I've ever seen."
"It’s very straightforward to Install Jaspersoft in both Linux and Windows."
"The reports I prepare using TIBCO Jaspersoft are quite user-friendly, and the look and feel are much better compared to other report generation tools."
"It's easy to use and maintain."
"It is a good, simple to learn product with some limitations."
"We find the access restrictions on different user groups valuable."
"The reporting and charting features: I have worked with other reporting tools and I find this tool is easier and faster to work with while creating charts."
"It offers high processing power for report generation and is cost-effective."
"With the online view, it's easier to create Ad Hoc reports. It has inbuilt reports so we can easily get data from the system and customize the fields."

Cons

"Licensing costs"
"They need to improve on the idea, concept and support."
"It is really old. We are moving towards converting everything into a Power BI environment. We want to have a self-service type of BI environment where different levels of users in organizations can log onto a portal and retrieve the data they need or get the necessary insights for decision-making that's important for them or their business unit. They have built a new version of QlikView called QlikSense, which probably competes with newer BI tools, such as Power BI, but they are far behind. That's why we are moving towards a newer tool that's easier to use and has more visualizations to represent the data."
"The backend (scripting) needs improvement to be more like a real ETL BI tool."
"I would like to see a modernised user interface."
"QlikView has some superb, unique features but the desktop edition suffers from having a rather tired user interface."
"Pricing is a bit too high and I think licenses should be unlimited."
"QlikView's UI could be more user-friendly."
"There might be some compatibility issues with the dashboard if we're using the latest version and some clients are using the older version. Some features might not be supported."
"The support team needs to be improved."
"Writing custom domains is a difficult task"
"The integration of TIBCO Jaspersoft with some data sources has limitations that I encountered, and it was not very straightforward."
"The user interface of Jaspersoft server is not appealing and should get a sparkling makeover."
"TIBCO support is not that great as the guys are not very keen at resolving the issue and making issues which can be resolved also as enhancements."
"Drag and drop desktop tool for analysis such as that in Tableau, QlikView or Spotfire desktop could be a part of Jasper Design Studio."
"The reporting templates have room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product's pricing a three out of ten."
"It's reasonably priced and falls on the more affordable side."
"The setup costs for QlikView are fair as are the yearly maintenance fees. The licensing becomes a bit more expensive and requires some planning for onboarding."

"QlikView is a reasonably priced solution."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one being low price and ten being high price, I rate pricing a four."

Jaspersoft vs. Pentaho – Which one to use & is there any need to purchase the commercial edition
Any company (be it technology, manfucaturing, human resource, ecommerce, SME etc) always has the need for Business Intelligence to some or the other extent. If cost is one of the consideration factor, then the 2 BI tools which are at the forefront are Pentaho and Jaspersoft. But, often the same…
