Helpful dashboard, and the ElasticSearch feature helps to identify problematic components
Savision continuously develops new modules to allow further integration, so the only item would continue with this effort to allow more-and-more systems to integrate into this platform. Perhaps more focus can be done on the CMDB portion and bi-directional communication to the ITSM system, but this is a small portion.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This helps to centralize multiple monitoring solutions and streamline integration into ITSM."
"The solution primarily drives system information, and I believe it works fine."
"The solution's reporting engine has given me detailed information on which applications or services I've either failed or about to fail in terms of the predictive makeup on Azure cloud."
"Setting up SCOM is straightforward and takes about an hour as long as you have all your firewalls and DNS settings in place."
"SCOM provides alerting capabilities and threshold settings, which are helpful for monitoring."
"The solution is scalable. If you want to monitor more you have to buy more licenses, but you can add on. We don't plan to increase usage."
"The most valuable feature of SCOM is real-time alerts."
"The advantages of SCOM are that it is definitely user friendly and a more appropriate solution for what we need."
"SCOM's most valuable features are the network path feature, reporting, and integration with business intelligence."

Cons

"Perhaps more focus can be done on the CMDB portion and bi-directional communication to the ITSM system, but this is a small portion."
"SCOM is not as straightforward in terms of user interface or general experience, which could be improved."
"The configurations could be better. There are multiple tests where you can do something, but they can be a trigger as well. The overriding methodologies are not that easy. The configurations are difficult. The configuration and thorough day-to-day operations to get them to the level you want takes some time. It's very difficult."
"The initial setup should be easier to complete."
"Third-party tools have had to be created to make SCOM management pack creation more efficient and effective. However, this weighs down the application as it just adds a resource requirement, which is ballooning the size of the necessary storage and all that for essentially substandard components."
"It could use some system enhancements, such as better dashboards."
"I would like to see them improve their network monitoring."
"Non Windows monitoring is fairly weak. Network device monitoring is not reliable."
"Stability and some performance issues exist and they need improvement."

"Our Enterprise Agreement includes the price."
"The platform is cost-effective due to our existing Microsoft support."
"Two customers bought the enterprise agreement with Microsoft and paid for Software Assurance. But few customers don't buy it for Software Assurance. They just buy it and deploy it, and they think that we will be using it for the next five years."
