Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Deep traffic inspection has strengthened threat detection and provides smooth zero day protection
I have been dealing with Deep Discovery that inspects incoming and outgoing traffic, and it is used for packet filtering. The most valuable features and functionalities in Deep Discovery are that it is used for monitoring malicious traffic, and it operates down to the firewall and inspects any malicious traffic. I have used Deep Discovery's sandbox analysis feature. The sandboxing feature helps our threat detection efforts as it internally inspects the malicious data and holds it in the sandbox, and after the analysis, the file is quarantined. I evaluate Deep Discovery's real-time visibility on network traffic as a better solution for inspecting traffic. In incident response, Deep Discovery captures zero-day threats easily and provides the best visibility on the console. I assess the effectiveness of Trend Micro's real-time analysis in my defense strategy as good, as it does not disturb any work and operates very smoothly in the background without any utilization.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The stability is pretty good except for one or two cases, and based on the performance, it's been okay with pretty high performance, no bugs or glitches, and it doesn't crash or freeze."
"Once you become familiar with it, Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks is a more powerful tool and I would say that I prefer it over MDE because it is a stronger tool for me."

"What I like about Trend Micro Smart Protection is that it detects unknown threats that are not visible on other platforms. It catches low-hanging threats, such as certain binary downloads, that aren't flagged by other tools."

Cons

"It is not a suitable solution if you are looking for a single product with multiple features such as DLP, encryption, rollback, etc."

"The solution could improve by providing better integration with their own products and others."
"Based on our experience so far, its implementation is quite complex."
"The configuration could be simplified. I would like to see better protection, specifically to protect email applications."
"There's an overall lack of features."

"Endpoint Security would be improved by adding DLP."
"The product or service could be improved by incorporating SIEM integrations to enable the collection of logs."

"The solution could integrate with other products to provide a comprehensive protection strategy."
"We are using Apple devices, and the advanced device control service doesn't work for M1 chips devices, like Apple MacBooks."
"A handbook of known issues and quick fixes should be given so that troubleshooting and frustration are less."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is a very system-intensive product, and it would be better if it could be made less burdensome on the resources."
"It does not provide insights into what is being done. I don't see value when I present the product to the customer."
"The only notable concern is the level of support in the particular region of Sri Lanka. Following events in the past two years, the quality of technical support has regrettably declined."
"I haven't used the solution for very long, so I haven't encountered many issues using the solution."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection needs to improve its compliance features to cover more domains, such as BCIDSS rules. Enhancements in this area would enable quicker and more comprehensive compliance reporting."
"Trend Micro support needs more enhancement."
"I'm not sure about the cloud migration part, in terms of whether it is seamless or not."
"Smart Protection could be more compatible with older operating systems like Windows XP and Windows 2000. Some of our clients have requested that."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The return on investment is from the user side because we have seen the performance of it increase the delivery time of the product if we are using too many web-based and on-premise applications. "It is cost-effective compared to similar solutions. It fits for the small businesses through to the big businesses."
"It's about $55 per license on a yearly basis."
"I did PoCs on products called Cylance and CrowdStrike. It is quite cost-effective and delivers all the entire solution which we require."
"The price of the solution is high for the license and in general."
"The pricing is a little bit on the expensive side."
"I feel it is fairly priced."

"The cost seems competitive."
"The product pricing for PCs is reasonable, but server security can be expensive."
"We pay for the solution on a yearly basis. We pay approximately 100 Euros a year per user. There are no additional fees above this."
