Gained full visibility and streamlined threat detection through behavior-based insights and AI integration
Initially, we got to have a lot of false positives when we onboarded, but nowadays it's quite smooth. We have fine-tuned our security policies and allowed different levels of policies to get rid of those false positives. Currently, we are getting a fairly good amount of incidents that are not false positives or benign, but actionable items. The process is streamlined. In the initial days, the operations used to get involved in a lot of benign and other activities, but now the process is streamlined. We are leveraging the auto-detection and remediation plans. The operations teams are now more involved in other business roles as well, not just looking into the logs and fetching out what's happening there. They have fixed a lot of things. Initially, they didn't have IAC code drift detection, cloud posture management, or security posture management, but they have those now. They purchased different vendors and did a merger with that. They have now Prisma Cloud that gets integrated and now they are working with Cortex Cloud. Everything that was negative has now been addressed, and the product altogether looks to be in a very better and mature shape now. Currently, it's more or less detecting the workloads with AI-based best practices. Since most organizations are consuming AI agents and other things, we are looking forward to seeing what other feature enhancements Palo Alto can support in that.

Deep traffic inspection has strengthened threat detection and provides smooth zero day protection
I have been dealing with Deep Discovery that inspects incoming and outgoing traffic, and it is used for packet filtering. The most valuable features and functionalities in Deep Discovery are that it is used for monitoring malicious traffic, and it operates down to the firewall and inspects any malicious traffic. I have used Deep Discovery's sandbox analysis feature. The sandboxing feature helps our threat detection efforts as it internally inspects the malicious data and holds it in the sandbox, and after the analysis, the file is quarantined. I evaluate Deep Discovery's real-time visibility on network traffic as a better solution for inspecting traffic. In incident response, Deep Discovery captures zero-day threats easily and provides the best visibility on the console. I assess the effectiveness of Trend Micro's real-time analysis in my defense strategy as good, as it does not disturb any work and operates very smoothly in the background without any utilization.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Automation and playbooks have helped me significantly, as Cortex Xnor's playbooks predefine the workflow of the automation, such as response processes, alert triggering, and enriching the context, efficiently detecting and blocking malicious attacks with firewalls while eliminating workload and speeding responses for next-generation operations."
"Cortex XDR is stable, offering high quality and reliable performance."
"Stability is a primary factor, and then there's the ease of distribution and policy management."
"The dashboard is customizable."
"Traps has drastically reduced our endpoint attack surface via advanced detection capabilities, sandboxing of never before seen programs, and by drastically limiting where executables can launch in the first place."
"The protection offered by this product is good, as is the endpoint reporting."
"The normal protection was really effective, and we detected situations that if we didn't have Cortex XDR by Palo Alto Networks, it's highly likely that we would have been affected, but it protected the infrastructure."
"WildFire AI is the best option for this product."
"The most valuable features are the file activity monitors, DLP solutions, and application controls."
"The solution effectively detects malicious files and blocks sign-ins."
"The solution is centrally managed, easy to configure, and easy to use."
"I like Seqrite's web protection features and external device control."
"The solution is stable."
"Seqrite Endpoint Security provides external protection in terms of hard drives."
"The most valuable feature is its endpoint protection, particularly the antivirus component. It has been very effective in protecting our clients, and since its installation, we haven't encountered any issues with compromised endpoints or virus impacts."
"In case it works, we are looking to use features like USB blocking, file upload alerts, and other antivirus features as well, but this software has to work first."
"The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Smart Protection is automatic scanning."
"It integrates well with all our tools, including ServiceNow, for fault reporting."
"The most valuable features are the DLP and anti-virus functionality."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its simplicity."
"Helps with vulnerability and patch management, making it easier to provide top-notch services to our customers."
"It is a stable solution."
"The next-generation antivirus features are excellent."
"In incident response, Deep Discovery captures zero-day threats easily and provides the best visibility on the console."

Cons

"In an upcoming release, the solution could improve by proving hard disk encryption. If it could support this it would be a complete solution."
"The main issue I could point out is the offline agents and the way that it is missing."
"While using Cortex, I noticed some aspects that could be improved, such as increasing the synchronization speed between XDR and Xnor."
"Every 30 or 40 days, there's a new version and we need to go and make sure our customer's laptops are upgraded."
"It would be better if they could educate the customers more. Some sort of seminars and roadshows will help educate the customers and show what the product can do. The price could be better. It would also help if they had a team for deployment and support."
"The encryption is not up to the mark."
"While using Cortex, I noticed some aspects that could be improved, such as increasing the synchronization speed between XDR and Xnor."
"Enhancing UI simplicity and playbook flexibility are areas that could benefit from more low-code automation options for smoother integrations."
"It should be able to detect and report any ransomware attack but currently, it doesn't detect and it doesn't report any."
"In the next version, they should improve the areas of utility and centralized control."
"Endpoint Security would be improved by adding DLP."
"The solution needs to improve stability."
"A handbook of known issues and quick fixes should be given so that troubleshooting and frustration are less."
"The solution could integrate with other products to provide a comprehensive protection strategy."
"We would like the solution to have integration with other security solutions so that we can have a single base for monitoring all the security incidents and concerns."
"User management could be improved."
"The solution's device control options are not too beneficial."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve automatic scanning because sometimes it pops up when I am doing my work. It would be helpful to have a feature to have it only automatically scan when the system is on standby mode. I would be able to be more efficient with my work. Additionally, security could improve."
"Sometimes, the tool bases its actions on behaviour, and we lack a policy learning mechanism. If Trend Micro Smart Protection introduced an AI model, its protection capabilities would be enhanced. I used a different browser once, which may have prevented protection. Another time, our own ISP was added to the blacklist, and it took the support team two business days to resolve it."
"Smart Protection could be more compatible with older operating systems like Windows XP and Windows 2000. Some of our clients have requested that."
"It is onsite. It does have its challenges in terms of scalability."
"I want the tool to provide the solutions integrated within it to have regular updates. Currently, the solutions integrated with Smart Protection get updates from the cloud. I want to minimize the download from the cloud."
"The only drawback to this solution is that it needs different products for different types of clients, and it would be better to have a single agent for all of the products."
"The solution should improve its mobile management solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I don't like that they have different types of licenses."
"It has a higher cost than other solutions, like CrowdStrike or Microsoft’s EDR tools, but it reduces the cost of our operations because it’s a new generation antivirus tool."
"Its pricing is kind of in line with its competitors and everybody else out there."
"Cortex XDR is a costly solution."
"The price is on the higher side, but it's okay."
"We didn't have to pay any additional fee for the cloud instance. It just came with the renewal, which was nice."
"This is an expensive solution."
"Cortex XDR's pricing is ok."
"Endpoint Security is cheaper than Trend Micro."
"Licensing fees are on a yearly basis. Compared to other solutions, this solution is cheaper."
"The licensing fee is 200 Bangladeshi Taka per client per year."
"As per the suggestions from one of the experts we know, it is advisable to make a proper comparison with the local vendors instead of solely relying on online prices, which are often higher and quite expensive."
"It is a cheaply priced product."
"I give the cost of the solution a seven out of ten."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The solution's pricing is good for us, where it is neither cheap nor expensive."
"The product is not very expensive."
"In terms of pricing, in comparison to products like Kaspersky, Trend Micro's price might appear higher. However, this elevated cost can be rationalized due to the extensive features and detection engines that Trend Micro provides. The price may be a challenge for countries with economic conditions like Sri Lanka. If there was reasonable pricing for Sri Lanka, it would be a plus point."
"The cost seems competitive."
"Its price is fine. Price-wise, it is competitive with any other vendor."
"The solution is a little expensive. However, they can reduce the price for competition. There are different licensing models."
"If I'm not mistaken, for three years, for 400 licenses, we paid nearly 15,000 euros. We don't have any additional costs that we have to pay on top of that."
"We pay for the solution on a yearly basis. We pay approximately 100 Euros a year per user. There are no additional fees above this."
"Instead of going for monthly or yearly licensing models, it is better to go ahead with three-year or five-year licensing models as it can be cheaper."
