Have prioritized security while managing multi-agent data migration and cloud adoption
We utilize Time Travel with Snowflake because this is a very useful feature. Everyone finds it crucial because in conventional data platforms, it's very difficult to handle these kinds of things. This feature is essential, though I don't have the use cases currently; it is just there for implementation. Regarding Snowflake's automated scaling and suspension features, this auto-scaling is very significant. We had a comparison with Databricks and Snowflake a few months back, and this auto-scaling takes an edge within Snowflake; that's what our observation reflects.

Standout features are real-time dashboards and powerful aggregation
This product has a powerful aggregating feature which is great. It also has its own APIs. Whenever the data comes in, it can be streamed out anywhere. It's the only solution that provides real-time dashboards. Tableau doesn't have this feature. The three variants of historical data, real-time data and predicted data from Spitfire, give more strength to LiveDatamart without any dependency on other products. The product is easy to set up with very low maintenance required.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Snowflake is a data lake on the cloud where all processing happens in memory, resulting in very fast query responses."
"It requires no maintenance on our part, they handle all that, the speed is phenomenal, the pricing isn't really anything more than what you would be paying for a SQL Server license or another tool to execute the same thing, we have zero maintenance on our side to do anything, and the speed at which it performs queries and loads the data is amazing."
"Time travel is one feature that really helps us out."
"The Mbps they have established is quite a bit faster than any other data warehouse."
"My advice for anybody who is considering Snowflake is that it is a really good product, especially if you are having issues with Big Data."
"In addition to the database, Snowflake also provides ingestion capabilities."
"The ETL and data ingestion capabilities are better in this solution as compared to SQL Server. SQL Server doesn't do much data ingestion, but Snowflake can do it quite conveniently."
"There are a lot of good features, it's a very sophisticated, cutting edge technology and is super easy to use."
"The solution has a powerful aggregating feature"
"The three variants of historical data, real-time data and predicted data from Spitfire, give more strength to LiveDatamart without any dependency on other products."
"You can create your own rules that include mathematic calculations."
"The solution is mature and stable, even more so since it was acquired by TIBCO."

Cons

"For the Snowflake database, there should be some third-party features for the ETL. It would also be good to be able to use some kind of controls to get the data either from another database or a flat file. Its price should be improved. It should be cheaper than Microsoft."
"Although the UI has improved lately, they still need to work on their UiPath, the workspace area."
"Snowflake has to improve their spatial components since it doesn't have much in terms of geo-spatial queries."
"There are some stored procedures that we've had trouble with. The solution also needs to fine-tune the connectors to be able to connect into the system source."
"Currently there isn't end-to-end or B2B sharing of data."
"I would like to see a client version of the GUI."
"Currently there isn't end-to-end or B2B sharing of data."
"Snowflake could improve migration. It should be made easier. It would be beneficial if it could offer some OLTP features. One of our customers was using Oracle for both data warehousing and OLTP workloads, and they were able to migrate their data warehousing workloads to Snowflake without major issues. However, for some of their OLTP requirements, such as needing a response time of fewer than 10 milliseconds for certain queries, Snowflake is currently unable to provide that."
"Live Datamart runs on JVM which only holds Java and only 60 GB of data. If you try to get more out of it than that, it crashes."
"The solution's setup could be quicker and easier."
"The solution's setup could be quicker and easier."
"Improvements need to be made on the load balancing side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Oracle is less expensive than Snowflake."
"The product's price range falls between average to a bit expensive range. I think the tool is worth the money if you use it properly."
"It is on a monthly basis. It is based on your usage. There are no additional costs from the point of the licensing fee. We do give some kind of evaluation to the customers about how much it is going to be. You can decide in Snowflake the virtual machine that you are using for customers. There are several kinds of virtual machines that you can use. It is similar to the clothing sizes: small to extra large. If you need more power in the coming month, you can decide in advance and take a more powerful machine. You can just select it from the platform. You can also decide which machine you want to take for extracting data."
"Comparing Snowflake to on-prem options such as Oracle or SAP, it seemed more cost-effective."
"The price for the solution's license depends on the use cases."
"We used Snowflake to see if it is cheaper than using BigQuery. It was just to maintain the cost or the KPI regarding the cost of connectivity by users. Snowflake wasn't cheaper than BigQuery, and its affordability was the main issue."
"The solution is expensive but worth the cost because the quality is there."
"There is a separation of storage and compute, so you only pay for what you use."
"The solution might be considered a bit expensive because it competes with open-source products."
