Data governance has improved and complex integrations are handled with flexible customization
Regarding Talend Data Fabric, the ease of use and the customization options that are available are particularly valuable. There are a lot of built-in components and features that we can modify in any way we want to transform the data and make it analytics ready. Talend Data Catalog is another product that, when combined with Talend Data Fabric, can be used for the data governance piece. The stewardship, ownership, and curation happen mainly from the Data Catalog side. Within Talend Data Fabric, the role-based access control is used for user segregations such as security infrastructure-related or integration-related activities. It bifurcates the roles and responsibilities. From the data standpoint, the RBAC functions with the help of Data Catalog.

Delivers consistent performance and enables advanced analytics across complex data environments
Teradata stands out as a solid platform for managing and analyzing large volumes of data. Its architecture allows information to be processed efficiently while maintaining stable performance, even in highly demanding environments. One of its most notable strengths is the ability to run complex queries at high speed, which is essential for organizations that require timely and reliable analytics. Teradata offers a well-integrated ecosystem that supports working with different types of data and enables scalability as organizational needs grow. Its focus on advanced analytics, integration with modern business intelligence tools, and the ability to operate both on-premise and in the cloud make it a versatile solution for data warehousing and large-scale processing. Teradata's stability, technological maturity, and the availability of strong documentation and best practices are noteworthy. I consider Teradata to be a tool with great potential for any organization looking to enhance its analytical capabilities, optimize data processing, and move toward more data-driven decision-making. Teradata stands out as a solid platform for managing a large volume of data in different projects. Its architecture allows information to be processed efficiently while maintaining stable performance, even in high-demanding environments. A well-integrated AI ecosystem that supports working with different types of data and enables scalability as organizational needs grow across different kinds of enterprises or organizations. The focus on advanced analytics integration with modern business intelligence tools is particularly valuable. Teradata combines a powerful parallel process and optimizing SQL engine with a highly scalable architecture allowing businesses to execute complex queries and analytics in real-time. It supports multi-cloud, hybrid, and on-premise environments, giving organizations flexibility to choose the setup that best aligns with their strategy. One of the biggest strengths is the ability to unify disparate data sources and support high concurrency, enabling different teams, such as analytics, operations, BI, and data science, to access consistent, trusted data across the enterprise.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"What I find most valuable about this solution is the 900 connectors because it allows me to integrate any tool and any cloud system I need to integrate and they have a connector out of the box."
"There are a lot of built-in components and features that we can modify in any way we want to transform the data and make it analytics ready."
"We've had no issues with the stability so far."
"Talend has very good support for big data."
"It is a smart tool for us to design data pipelines. It lets us populate our three data lake instances. We like this solution for its connection capabilities, since it is very important to be able to use many different types of software. We tested a lot of SAP sources successfully, including cloud sources with SAP. It is also very easy to anonymize data with TIBCO, as well as populating HDFS files, packet files, and raw files. It is very easy to do that with Talend Data Fabric."
"The Talend data integration has been one of the most valuable features."
"Talend can be used for multi-cloud purposes, allowing users to orchestrate data across various cloud platforms without purchasing AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, or similar cloud-specific tools."
"Everything in Talend Data Fabric is GUI-based, making it very user-friendly and easy to learn quickly."
"If the priority is to find the best tool that can be relied on with less maintenance and good performance, Teradata is definitely a good option, but again, homework must be done to see which one suits the data workloads."
"The best features Teradata offers, in my experience, include fast performance during multi-parallel processing, very good scalability, support for linear scalability, and its suitability for handling large volumes of data; additionally, it facilitates data integration, where we integrate and analyze data from various sources, making it a powerful and high-quality reliable solution for the company."
"It architects the databases well, right from data modelling, the correct appliance to be chosen, the queries hitting the system, strategic and tactical, and that business knowledge should be easy to understand to end developers."
"The data processing, clustering, and distributed computing are impressive."
"As it is a data warehousing solution, many reporting sessions and users can run simultaneously without much performance degradation."
"Teradata is expensive but gives value for money, especially if you don't want to move your data to the cloud."
"Teradata solutions help organizations reduce IT, operations, and maintenance costs; enhance on-time delivery of products and services."
"It has a solid set of tools and consulting services."

Cons

"We encounter issues getting email notifications. They should provide enough information about the configuration process for email components."
"Deployment can be difficult, but I didn't test the latest version yet. With Talend products, every release brings a lot of new features and functionalities. This is never a small adaptation, because the tool is maturing, but we need to test the latest version and to check its deployment capabilities."
"The support is not very good. The team is not well-trained, and resolving a ticket can require several discussions."
"I would like to see better integration with other tools because every tool waiting for approval in terms of leveraging machine learning takes a long time."
"Deployment can be difficult, but I didn't test the latest version yet."
"I would like to see better integration with other tools."
"The downside, however, is indeed the pricing, which has been the biggest challenge; since it went to Click, there is no longer a free license version such as Talend Open Studio, so either you pay or you do not have anything."
"Talend's architecture is complex to configure, especially due to the various components involved. It requires a more intricate setup."
"I choose 8 out of 10 for Teradata because there is always the scope for improvement."
"Sometimes the large injestion takes days to load data, and some of our stored procedures take two to three days."
"We are using an older version at the moment."
"It's simple but costly."
"An additional feature I would you like to see included in the next release, is that it needs to be more cloud-friendly."
"I'm not sure about the unstructured data management capabilities. It could be improved."
"There are a few things where you are totally dependent on the customer service and support from Teradata. This is an area where they really need to improve a bit, especially when you're talking about cloud service integration."
"Teradata needs to pay attention to the cloud-based solution to make sure it runs smoothly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are no additional licensing fees when you scale"
"There are multiple subscriptions available with Talend, each with its own scope. Subscriptions depend on the number of users you have and how many remote engines you want to install."
"In this day and age, we want to get things done quickly. So, we go to the AWS Marketplace."
"The product cost is high for what the client gets. There may be more cost-effective solutions for small and medium-sized organizations."
"Users have to pay a yearly licensing fee for Teradata IntelliFlex, which is very expensive."
"The price of Teradata is expensive. However, what they deliver they are outstanding. If you're looking for an inexpensive solution to run a database, this isn't your tool. It's the Ferrari of databases for data warehousing."
"It's a very expensive product."
"It comes at a notably high cost for what it offers."
"It is still a very expensive solution. While I very much like the pure technological supremacy of the software itself, I believe Teradata as a company needs to become more affordable. They are already losing the market to more flexible or cheaper competitors."
"Teradata pricing is fine, and it's competitive with all the legacy models. On a scale of one to five, with one being the worst and five being the best, I'm giving Teradata a three, because it can be a little expensive, when compared to other solutions."
