I've been working on a project that used Reltio Cloud for master data management. My role involved testing the tool to ensure that the process was functioning correctly.
Quality Assurance Test Engineer at Concept Software & Services INC
Provides master data management and has a good UI and support
Pros and Cons
- "Its user interface is different from that of other MDM solutions like Informatica"
- "The download process can be quite slow"
What is our primary use case?
How has it helped my organization?
I was working with Reltio Cloud on a project for a car retail company. This company needed to create a master data repository, a "golden copy," that would consolidate all customer and vehicle information from their various sources.
The company had a front-end application in its stores where customers could provide their details and a web page where customers could schedule test drives. All these customer details were captured through different applications and fed into Reltio via real-time and batch processes.
My role involved verifying that the ETL processes were working correctly and that the data was being loaded into Reltio properly. I ensured that the MDM was accurate by checking the match and merge rules and that the golden copy of the customer data was correctly created based on these rules.
To perform these validations, I used the Reltio UI to log in, sample the golden copies of customer profiles, and confirm that the profiles included all relevant source details and attribute values. I also checked that the attribute values adhered to the survivorship rules established in Reltio.
What is most valuable?
Its user interface is different from that of other MDM solutions like Informatica, and MDM Reltio’s UI offers a much more intuitive experience. In Reltio, you can easily view profiles and their attributes, track data sources, and access the history of updates to the profiles. For example, if a profile initially came from one application and was later updated with details from another, you can see all this information and how the details were merged.
What needs improvement?
One issue with Reltio Cloud is downloading entity details. For instance, if I want to download all customer records—the golden copy details of all customers in the organization—I need to create a job. However, this download process can be quite slow. Additionally, the data is exported in JSON format, which can be challenging to read and interpret properly.

For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Reltio Cloud for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I rate the solution's stability a nine out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
This solution is used by 25 people, including development, testing, the product owner, and others. It offers excellent scalability and customization options. Through APIs, you can easily update, add, remove, or hide attributes and preview built-in attributes.
I rate the solution's scalability as nine out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
We had an integration with Salesforce, which required careful coordination between updates from both systems. During Salesforce updates, we needed to ensure that they did not interfere with Reltio updates. To manage this, we would temporarily disable the connector between Reltio and Salesforce. Once Salesforce has completed its update, we will restart the connector.
For this process, we relied on the support team from Reltio, who were typically very responsive. We would usually notify them a day or two in advance, requesting assistance disabling and re-enabling the connector. The support team was consistently available, and if any issues arose, we could raise a support ticket. Generally, we would receive a response within 24 hours.
How was the initial setup?
I have worked on testing the Reltio Cloud application. Reltio provides a baseline set of features and functionalities, with much of the core development already done. Organizations can customize the application based on their specific needs by utilizing the APIs provided by Reltio. These APIs are reportedly easy to understand and implement. For example, if an organization wants to change how an attribute is displayed, such as changing 'name' to 'customer name,' they can modify a simple API call to achieve this. After running the modified API, the attribute will be displayed as 'customer name' instead of 'name.'
What other advice do I have?
Reltio Cloud allows for real-time data integration and visibility. For instance, if a customer browses vehicles online and then visits a store the next day, the store's application will display information about the customer's online activity. This is possible because Reltio serves as a master data management system that supports both inbound and outbound data flows. It continuously receives data from various applications and sends updated, accurate information back to them. As a result, store salespersons can access the latest customer interests and interactions, providing more informed and relevant service. The real-time nature of Reltio Cloud ensures that this information is available almost instantly, rather than relying on batch processing.
They provided me with a URL to log in. Once I logged in, I could view the profiles and everything. Since it's a UI, it was user-friendly and easy to understand. For example, when I go to the profile section, I can see the attributes and their meanings. Overall, it’s straightforward to know how the data is flowing.
Reltio Cloud performs quarterly version upgrades. They inform us about upcoming upgrades and potential impacts, such as temporary slowness or downtime during the upgrade process. We may experience some slowness or downtime during these scheduled upgrades, but otherwise, the application usually performs well.
Reltio Cloud will provide real-time data through APIs and deliver the golden copy of the data through APIs. Most applications within the organization will subscribe to these APIs.
Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

A master data management platform to store the data and enrich it from multiple sources
Pros and Cons
- "We can store the data and enrich it from multiple sources."
- "We need manual data modeling and configuration to tailor the platform to our requirements."
What is our primary use case?
It is a master data management platform. There, we can store the data and enrich it from multiple sources. For example, we have one set of data. For that particular set, if we need to add details from multiple sources like ABC, we can do that through Reltio.org.
What is most valuable?
The best thing is the unified data management capability. We can consolidate data from multiple sources and create a single viewer source for client requirements.
What needs improvement?
We can see that AI is taking care of many tasks. Reltio is also trying to combine AI capabilities with its platform. However, there is still a need for improvement. We need manual data modeling and configuration to tailor the platform to our requirements. Despite this, they are already integrating AI capabilities into the Reltio platform. I have seen this in webinars and community shows, and they are progressing.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Reltio Cloud for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I didn't face any stability issues till now.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a cloud-based platform, which means it offers high scalability and performance. In my previous company, we were able to load more than ten million records into the platform.
More than fifty members were using this solution.
How are customer service and support?
For some tickets, I contacted Reltio.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I started with which was the unification of the data, for which they proposed Reltio. When handling duplicate records, Reltio provides a highly effective matching and merging process that is more efficient than on-premise or other master data management platforms.
How was the initial setup?
The implementation of Reltio Cloud is straightforward and user-friendly. It is a low-code platform, meaning minimal coding is required. We can purchase the Reltio platform and model the data according to our needs using the graphical UI. The configuration can be done directly within the UI.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Reltio is a bit costly.
What other advice do I have?
The Reltio product management will maintain everything.
I have seen many data management platforms like Informatica, Atacama, and SQL sensor. Among these, Reltio is the most efficient and the easiest to use.
For someone starting for the first time, if they are using Reltio, there is a website called Reltio Learn. There, we can find a course to help us understand how to configure and use the platform effectively.

Deduplication, enrichment, and survivorship features are great for making golden records
Pros and Cons
- "The survivorship feature is great because we can define it, prioritize the sources, and only allow those sources to survive when making the golden record."
- "Sometimes, the service goes down for maintenance or when we run a lot of jobs so things get pushed to the queue and results don't get delivered on time."
What is our primary use case?
Our company uses the solution for marketing, accounts, contacts, and leads. We maintain a golden record and cleanse the data in the solution. We use enrichment sources to get more data, create a golden record based on the survivorship, and push it to our downstream application for business users.
We also use features like the built-in workflow, DCR, the account ACS, the account creation request, and the data change request. For accounts, we create a request in Salesforce and that gets approved through the solution's workflow. We basically govern the entire account creation process.
We have 20 team members who use the solution.
How has it helped my organization?
The solution has really helped us with deduplication. We get multiple contacts and leads created by different users. They come down from Salesforce to the solution and we have auto-merge rules that basically deduplicate. The solution merges similar leads and contacts based on the auto-merge rules.
We have also benefited a lot with enrichment. We have a source to get contact information like email IDs and phone numbers that are given priority. If they survive, we are able to make effective communication with our clients.
Within a month of implementing the solution, we saw good achievements. We realized a lot of contacts that got deduplicated.
What is most valuable?
The survivorship feature is great because we can define it, prioritize the sources, and only allow those sources to survive when making the golden record.
Real-time events are generated whenever an entity gets updated or created.
What needs improvement?
Sometimes, the service goes down for maintenance or when we run a lot of jobs so things get pushed to the queue and results don't get delivered on time.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is rated an eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is quite scalable so scalability is rated a nine out of ten.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is helpful and has a good response time.
Deployments can take a bit longer than expected. We expect assistance in ten to twelve hours but sometimes it takes two to three days. Raising deployments as high priority helps with the response time.
Technical support is rated an eight out of ten.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We did not previously use another solution.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is easy. The LCA code and some components require deployment by the Reltio support team. That process can take a little more time than expected unless it is raised as a high priority.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution in-house with assistance from the solution's support team. Deployment took two to three days.
Ongoing maintenance is handled by three or four staff members.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We did not evaluate other options.
What other advice do I have?
The solution is easy to use, configure on the L3 level, and maintain with regard to external queues. The solution has good integration and speed for API execution. There is good availability for the software, UI and records.
There really is no negative to the solution except for occasional downtime. When you save or do an API call, the service sometimes takes time to index or be available so be sure to test it.
I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Creates entities and manages data with comprehensive documentation
Pros and Cons
- "It is a scalable product, and the scalability is good. We can configure users."
- "There is some lag in developing new features for specific business requirements. If a new feature is needed, we have to raise a request in the developer portal through the IDEA portal. This process takes time to develop, which can be a drawback when immediate business needs arise."
What is our primary use case?
I use Reltio Cloud to create entities and manage data. It allows for managing data hierarchies using tools like RDM, Data Modeler, and other Reltio features.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is its IDM. This feature is particularly valuable for maintaining the data and its structure and managing the data hierarchy. It allows businesses to effectively manage the data flow from RDM to MDM and between MDM and RDM. This capability is the most important feature.
What needs improvement?
Whenever there is a problem, the Reltio support team has been there to help me overcome these obstacles. There is some lag in developing new features for specific business requirements. If a new feature is needed, we have to raise a request in the developer portal through the IDEA portal. This process takes time to develop, which can be a drawback when immediate business needs arise.
Different business models have varying requirements. When a new feature development is needed from Reltio Cloud, it takes four to five months, or we must wait for the next major release. The development is not tenant-specific because each business requirement affects all tenants equally.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Reltio Cloud for three years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
There is currently a bug going on in this. In the survivorship rules configuration, the rules we set up sometimes do not display correctly in the UI. This appears to be a bug in Reltio. For example, when multiple survivorship rules are defined for a single attribute, they are not accurately reflected in the UI. Besides that, Reltio is a stable platform, though it can become slow during maintenance periods.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
More than 300 people are using this solution. It's a scalable product, and the scalability is good. We can configure users.
How are customer service and support?
The support team is good. The support ticket system is also really helpful.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is straightforward. Everything is provided in the documentation.
What other advice do I have?
It's a beautiful application for creating master data. It is a wonderful platform. If you are looking to maintain and manage golden records, it manages the master data.
If you're looking to outsource your data management and create a golden record, Reltio Cloud is a beautiful platform to consider. It offers a plethora of features that you can utilize. Reltio Cloud is also user-friendly, with comprehensive documentation and training available to help you get started.
Reltio Cloud makes it easy for users to learn through their platform, offering multiple courses, training, and certifications. These resources are readily available, enabling Reltio users to go through the courses and learn from scratch. Even though I was a beginner at one point, I have learned and grown with these materials' help.
Data accuracy is better maintained in Reltio Cloud through its features as a Cloud MDM platform. One of its key features is RDM. This feature allows us to input data as needed manually, maintain the data's structure and hierarchy, and ensure high accuracy. The RDM feature effectively manages the accuracy and integrity of reference data in Reltio Cloud.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Useful recent event history, quick post retrieval, but API capability could improve
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable feature is real-time synchronization. You can see the events as soon as they are posted within a couple of fraction seconds."
- "Reltio Cloud could be improved in two specific areas. Firstly, the API capability needs to be enhanced, as when utilizing the REST API and posting a significant amount of data, there are multiple rejections from the MDM side. This can be due to the MDM server not responding or being unable to process the request. Therefore, I suggest that the API capacity should be increased to handle larger amounts of data. Additionally, I have noticed that the response time from the servers can take up to a minute or a few seconds, which can be improved for a faster response time."
What is our primary use case?
The typical use case for Reltio Cloud is to obtain more valuable and granular data by creating a golden profile method. This involves merging all the events from multiple contributors based on match rules and generating a golden profile with the highest preferred source to achieve more structured and comprehensive data. The data obtained is then consumed to bring it back into sources for further use.
How has it helped my organization?
The implementation of Reltio Cloud within our organization has been a highly beneficial and valuable experience as it has significantly enhanced our ability to derive real-time value from the data that we have at our disposal. This is due to the real-time nature of Reltio Cloud, which allows for immediate results and updates as soon as data is shared. The platform's ability to quickly merge two sources of data in real time has proven to be a major advantage and has enabled us to generate valuable insights and drive our business forward with greater efficiency. Reltio Cloud has proven to be a valuable tool that has greatly improved our organization.
It took us a couple of months to understand the full benefits of the solution.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is real-time synchronization. You can see the events as soon as they are posted within a couple of fraction seconds.
You are able to see the history of the event side. For example, if you have sent a change, but you want to trace back the previous changes, you can check the history of the events to see who has sent the profile and what changes have been made to the recent events.
What needs improvement?
Reltio Cloud could be improved in two specific areas. Additionally, I have noticed that the response time from the servers can take up to a minute or a few seconds, which can be improved for a faster response time.
Lastly, another area where Reltio Cloud could be improved is in terms of encoding characters, specifically with regards to SK characters, as every system has its own encoding character and sometimes this can be quite challenging. Sometimes when sending a particular character, it can be treated differently due to improper encoding, leading to the creation of duplicate account profiles in the MDM and hindering the merging process. Therefore, improving the encoding of SK characters and coding would be beneficial for the overall functionality of Reltio Cloud.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Reltio Cloud for approximately one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is highly stable and dependable. However, I must note that there are a few instances where I have encountered drops in the API capacity and responses, as we have previously discussed. Overall, the solution is a remarkably stable and trustworthy source.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In regards to the environment of this solution, it's possible that there are more than 50 users due to its deployment across multiple regions, including the U.S., ex-U.S., EMEA, and Asia-Pacific regions, with relative tenants in different regions as well. There are a lot of consumers of data, indicating that there may be more than 50 users or potentially even more.
We are extensively developing a multitude of solutions, particularly Reltio Cloud and MDM solutions. All of our previous legacy systems are in the process of transitioning to a Reltio-based office, primarily due to the immense satisfaction of the client. The client prefers Reltio Cloud, which has led us to onboard a considerable amount of market and data.
How are customer service and support?
I have not contacted the support from Reltio Cloud.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have not worked with other MDM solutions prior to Reltio Cloud.
How was the initial setup?
There is no installation as it is a SaaS solution.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
It wasn't my personal decision to choose Reltio Cloud, rather it was the result of the decision made by the leaders within our organization. Presumably, they thoroughly evaluated the various advantages and disadvantages of this particular platform, taking into account factors such as its cost-effectiveness and potential areas for growth and development. There may have been significant considerations and deliberations involved in the decision-making process.
What other advice do I have?
There is no maintenance required for the solution because it is managed in the cloud.
There are several factors to consider when evaluating the solution. Firstly, its scalability is an essential aspect to be analyzed. Additionally, it is imperative to assess the solution's security and availability across various regions. Above all, the pricing strategy must be taken into account when comparing it with its counterparts. Everyone desires a cost-effective and trustworthy solution; therefore, the cost will be the primary factor considered while making the decision.
The most significant lesson that I have learned through using Reltio Cloud is the importance of having an MDM solution. MDM is an essential requirement since data plays a vital role in every business process. The ability to process data, manage multiple systems and sources, and produce reliable and accurate data from different source systems is incredibly beneficial. MDM adds significant value to businesses that rely heavily on data.
I rate Reltio Cloud a seven out of ten.
