Pros and Cons
  • "The visualizations have been the most valuable feature."
  • "We use this solution for real-time dashboards, modeling data and for predictive analytics."
  • "The integration with other vendors and solutions could be improved."
  • "The integration with other vendors and solutions could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for real-time dashboards, modeling data and for predictive analytics. It is used on a daily basis by 300 people in our business.

What is most valuable?

The visualizations have been the most valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

The integration with other vendors and solutions could be improved. The visualizations and reporting capabilities could also be improved. In a future release, we would like to have access to built-in API capabilities. This would remove some of the manual work involved in reporting.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for three years.

A good platform and very robust
Pros and Cons
  • "A robust solution."
  • "This is a robust solution and I like that it's oriented to develop what we need in our ERP."
  • "Could be more user-friendly; somewhat complicated to use."
  • "In general Power BI seems to be more professional and user-friendly, it's certainly easier to find data."

What is our primary use case?

I am a professional consultant and programmer and we are customers of SAP.

What is most valuable?

This is a robust solution and I like that it's oriented to develop what we need in our ERP. I like the platform and the fact that it's the same ecosystem.

What needs improvement?

There is something about SAP Analytics that is complicated and more technical, certainly in comparison to a solution like Power BI which is more intuitive and where it's easier to find data. Power BI has the added advantage that many people work with Excel.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable because it's all in the cloud.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable but we haven't really tested it. Deployment requires a couple of people; one for design and the other working with what you need for analysis.

How are customer service and support?

SAP calls me once every three to six months to ask how things are going.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy because you can work with data models and if you know the database and you know how to model, both are intuitive. I haven't had many issues with deployment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

In general Power BI seems to be more professional and user-friendly, it's certainly easier to find data. I prefer Power BI if I want to work quickly with clients because it's easier to use and I can send a link whereas SAP is more difficult to access and I can never be sure that the client can get access. The first steps are more or less the same with both products although SAP Analytics has perhaps more details to analyze what you see on the screen and Power BI has more of a classical interface.

What other advice do I have?

Take your time and study the product because when you use SAP Analytics Cloud, you'll find it's very easy to make graphs and tables, to analyze and cross data. It's important to understand how it works but to also have a very clear idea of where you're going. There are online courses available as well as online help which is very useful.

I rate this solution eight out of 10.

Good for planning and analysis, and is stable and scalable, but its technical support needs improvement and building reports and dashboards could be difficult without proper system knowledge
Pros and Cons
  • "The features that are most valuable in SAP Analytics Cloud are the planning feature and the predictive analytics feature, though the planning feature needs to be more efficient."
  • "I would also tell others to go for SAP Analytics Cloud over other technologies because SAP has a vast infrastructure, so you can integrate different modules and products within SAP very easily."
  • "An area for improvement in SAP Analytics Cloud is its planning feature because it's not that efficient when compared to BPC. Another area for improvement in the solution is the difficulty in building reports or dashboards, particularly if you don't have proper knowledge of the BI system. SAP Analytics Cloud technical support also needs improvement."
  • "An area for improvement in SAP Analytics Cloud is its planning feature because it's not that efficient when compared to BPC."

What is our primary use case?

We use SAP Analytics Cloud for creating dashboards for higher management. Our managers use this for business planning purposes, viewing monthly and quarterly reports, particularly sales, finance, and planned maintenance reports.

What is most valuable?

The features that are most valuable in SAP Analytics Cloud are the planning feature and the predictive analytics feature, though the planning feature needs to be more efficient.

What needs improvement?

An area for improvement in SAP Analytics Cloud is its planning feature because it's not that efficient when compared to BPC.

Another area for improvement in the solution is the difficulty in building reports or dashboards, particularly if you don't have proper knowledge of the BI system.

SAP Analytics Cloud technical support also needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using SAP Analytics Cloud for around three years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SAP Analytics Cloud is a stable solution. In terms of stability, it's pretty good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SAP Analytics Cloud has good scalability.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support for SAP Analytics Cloud is not good. If you have a ticket, you won't get a solution to it immediately. If you're facing any issue with the solution, you have to wait for a few days, or at least one week to get it resolved. Support for SAP Analytics Cloud could be faster and could be improved.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We didn't switch from Power BI to SAP Analytics Cloud. We use them in parallel where the systems are being developed in Power BI and reports are being developed in SAP Analytics Cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for SAP Analytics Cloud was not that straightforward because it depends on your source system. If you have an SAP source system, the setup is quite straightforward, but if you're using a non-SAP system or a third-party system, setting up SAP Analytics Cloud would be quite complex. My company used the Agile implementation strategy.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented SAP Analytics Cloud in-house, and not via a third-party vendor.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have no information on the licensing costs of SAP Analytics Cloud because a separate team takes care of it.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My company evaluated Power BI.

What other advice do I have?

My company has around fifteen users of SAP Analytics Cloud.

My advice to anyone looking into using SAP Analytics Cloud is to first have an understanding of the BI system, based on the BI data models, and to have good analytical skills to develop reports in the solution. If you know the system, you can create reports and dashboards in SAP Analytics Cloud, but if you don't, you'll find it difficult.

I would also tell others to go for SAP Analytics Cloud over other technologies because SAP has a vast infrastructure, so you can integrate different modules and products within SAP very easily. For example, SAP has launched Data Warehouse Cloud, so you don't need a separate BI solution such as the SAP BW/4HANA system. You can directly take the data from the source and store it in the cloud, and compared to other technologies, it's quite cheap as well.

My company doesn't have any plans of increasing usage of SAP Analytics Cloud, but there's a plan to integrate it with SAP DWC.

I would rate SAP Analytics Cloud seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Expandable, reliable, and offers good storytelling capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "It is scalable."
  • "The solution is stable and reliable."
  • "The budget management could be better."
  • "However, I am sad to say other functions or functionalities were not included in our version right now."

What is our primary use case?

We are in the experimental stage. We are still using other business intelligence tools. However, we are experimenting with the SAP Analytics Cloud as a possible replacement or alternative.

What is most valuable?

The storytelling is great.

It is scalable.

The solution is reliable and stable.

What needs improvement?

Before the implementation, I read a lot about SAP Analytics Cloud. However, I am sad to say other functions or functionalities were not included in our version right now.

We are not using it regularly yet. Maybe more testing on our part is needed before talking about a lack of features.

As I use the SAP Analytics Cloud, I'm using only data, so I am grabbing data and putting it onto the SAP Analytics Cloud. Our boss wants to connect the data directly to the SAP database. That is one of the things they would like to do before we totally use it as our business intelligence solution.

The budget management could be better. I forget the exact term. However, the finance department will use the functionality for budget management across all the departments within the company.

There is a feature where all reports will be centralized in one, and it will be shown on one big monitor. If you put it on a monitor with touch capability, it would be perfect. It would really look good for reporting.

The predictive analysis should be stronger.

For how long have I used the solution?

I started using the solution in 2020. However, I am not using it yet on a regular basis.

I tried it before implementation and based on my experience, that's why our company got licensed for the SAP Analytics Cloud.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn’t crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product is scalable. So far, we’ve been happy with it. That said, said, we are in the stage of testing it right now. We are not yet entirely using it as our main DA.

How are customer service and support?

I have not yet experienced technical support.

How was the initial setup?

I’m not the one implementing it right now. Maybe our SAP basis team would have a better account of how the implementation went. I was more on the functional side. The technicality of setting it up is outside of my capabilities right now.

You only need a small team for deployment and maintenance.

What about the implementation team?

We have consultants assisting us with the implementation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The costs and licensing are outside my level of knowledge. I don’t deal with it directly.

That said, there may be additional costs involved. Some functionalities of the SAP Analytics Cloud are not yet included in our version.

What other advice do I have?

We are end-users.

We are not using it in the cloud. We are in the on-premise platform at this moment. It’s a hybrid, currently.

I’m not sure which version of the solution we’re using.

My current job is in SAP production support, so I am the one handling incident reports or incident tickets and problem management for all the SAP-related tickets. I’m somewhere between a user and a consultant. I’m not a reseller.

I’d advise potential users that it's better to connect it directly to the database so that it will have data harmony from your ERP if you are using SAP as well as this SAP Analytics Cloud. That way, you can create reports and extract data anytime you like. Right now, we are just pulling data in SAP and then into the SAP database and putting it on SAP Analytics Cloud to create a story or a report itself.

I’d rate the solution nine out of ten. This is mostly due to the business intelligence functionality only, as I have not yet really tried out the other functions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Good for planning and integrating with SAP systems, but needs better integration with non-SAP systems, big data, and social media
Pros and Cons
  • "Planning and integration are the most valuable features. It is useful for planning, and it is useful for integrating with on-prem or cloud SAP solutions."
  • "Planning and integration are the most valuable features; it is useful for planning and it is useful for integrating with on-prem or cloud SAP solutions."
  • "Its integration or connectivity with non-SAP systems, big data, and social media, such as YouTube, LinkedIn, et cetera, can be improved. This is where SAP has limited features as compared to other solutions."
  • "Its integration or connectivity with non-SAP systems, big data, and social media, such as YouTube, LinkedIn, et cetera, can be improved. This is where SAP has limited features as compared to other solutions."

What is our primary use case?

We are using it for enterprise-wide analytics. We have on-prem as well as cloud deployments.

What is most valuable?

Planning and integration are the most valuable features. It is useful for planning, and it is useful for integrating with on-prem or cloud SAP solutions.

What needs improvement?

Its integration or connectivity with non-SAP systems, big data, and social media, such as YouTube, LinkedIn, et cetera, can be improved. This is where SAP has limited features as compared to other solutions.

There is very little documentation. They could provide additional training and resources.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SAP Analytics Cloud for the last two years, but overall, I have been using analytics for the last 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We found it to be pretty stable over the last two years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We hope so. We have not reached a level to be able to say how good it is and how quickly scalable it is, but we believe that it would be scalable. I do not have a proof point to say that it is 100% scalable.

How are customer service and support?

So far, we've been able to resolve most of the issues on our own. Their support is average. It is not great, but it is also not bad.

How was the initial setup?

Its setup is easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Its price is slightly on the higher side.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it a seven out of 10.

Cost-effective with good data integration
Pros and Cons
  • "Data integration is very good."
  • "The product has helped us to unify reporting between all departments and throughout the entire company; it has improved our organization by streamlining operations."
  • "Could have more tabular reporting capabilities."
  • "I would like to have more tabular reporting capabilities, like page reports."

What is our primary use case?

We are using SAP Analytics for complete enterprise. We are customers and I am a business analytics manager.

How has it helped my organization?

The product has helped us to unify reporting between all departments and throughout the entire company; it has improved our organization by streamlining operations.

What is most valuable?

Data integration is very good. It's a very good product and cost-effective.

What needs improvement?

I would like to have more tabular reporting capabilities, like page reports.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

We've had a good experience with customer support. They're active and we have an exclusive relationship manager to move us forward with the product. It provides us with extra care.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The previous solution we used was not addressing our enterprise needs.

How was the initial setup?

The initial implementation took a week and then we gradually adopted it throughout the company. Deployment was carried out in-house and we currently have 200 users who range from C-level to end users. We have three people who help out with maintenance and they have backgrounds in engineering or architecture.

What was our ROI?

Analytics has improved our bottom line by improving processes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We get competitive rates for our licensing so I'm not complaining.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Tableau and Power BI before choosing SAP. The decision to go with SAP was connected to our underlying data. If your data is on SAP and your data warehouse is SAP Business Warehouse, as in our case, it made sense to go with SAP Analytics.

What other advice do I have?

I think it's important to be strategy-driven based on your underlying data. If you are an SAP-based organization, this is a good solution. If you are non-SAP, then you might be better off looking at an alternative solution.

I rate the solution nine out of 10.

It provides the integration we require, but it needs to add more visualization features to be a robust solution
Pros and Cons
  • "We mainly use Analytics Cloud because it integrates with other SAP solutions. Our ERP is an SAP product, and our back-end is SAP Business Warehouse, so integration is an essential factor."
  • "We mainly use Analytics Cloud because it integrates with other SAP solutions, as our ERP is an SAP product and our back-end is SAP Business Warehouse, so integration is an essential factor."
  • "SAP could add some more visualization features to Analytics Cloud, like charts and analytics. I would also like to see some more data cleaning and ad hoc functions added to this solution."
  • "I would rate SAP Analytics Cloud seven out of 10 because the product needs to mature a lot. SAP still needs to add several features to make it a robust BI solution."

What is most valuable?

We mainly use Analytics Cloud because it integrates with other SAP solutions. Our ERP is an SAP product, and our back-end is SAP Business Warehouse, so integration is an essential factor.

What needs improvement?

SAP could add some more visualization features to Analytics Cloud, like charts and analytics. I would also like to see some more data cleaning and ad hoc functions added to this solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using SAP Analytics Cloud for almost three years now.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have around 1,500 people using Analytics Cloud. Everyone from the lowest interns to the C-level suite uses it.

How are customer service and support?

I rate SAP support seven out of 10. It's good but not at the expected level.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Analytics Cloud is straightforward because it's a cloud service provided by SAP. Once you sign the contract, they give you the URL, and you can use the product. Everything is out of the box.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We considered Microsoft BI, but it didn't have the same seamless integration with SAP.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate SAP Analytics Cloud seven out of 10 because the product needs to mature a lot. SAP still needs to add several features to make it a robust BI solution. For example, they should improve the charts and table components.

Good connectivity with other products allows one to see different data sources
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the connectivity the solution provides with other products."
  • "I like the connectivity the solution provides with other products, as one can see different data sources, such as SAP ERP and the in-house hub, create a business warehouse, and import multi-dimensional data from flat files and various sources."
  • "The solution should include other scripting languages as well, such as Python."
  • "I rate the scalability as a seven out of ten, as the solution occasionally falls to pieces and requires us to tweak our scripting."

What is most valuable?

I like the connectivity the solution provides with other products. One can see different data sources, such as SAP ERP and the in-house hub which they provide. It allows one to create a business warehouse and then get the data import from there as well. So too, the solution is multi-dimensional, meaning the person can use a flat file and collect data from different sources.

What needs improvement?

When importing data from a different source, the solution should also act as an ETL tool to allow for the task permissions with the live data.

The solution could be more stable. I rate its stability as a seven out of ten.

I rate the scalability as a seven out of ten, as the solution occasionally falls to pieces and requires us to tweak our scripting. Scalability definitely needs to be improved.

The solution should include other scripting languages as well, such as Python. Also, I am curious to see if they will include AI and ML capabilities going forward.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have much experience working with SAP Analytics Cloud, as I have been doing so for two-and-a-half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution could be more stable. I rate its stability as a seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the scalability as a seven out of ten, as the solution occasionally falls to pieces and requires us to tweak our scripting. Scalability definitely needs to be improved.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. We are talking about a complete package which is supplied by SAP itself. So, once the person has the package online, he can simply use it on the spot. There is no setup required.

What other advice do I have?

If someone is using an SAP environment in their businesses, it's good to adapt SAP Analytical Cloud. But, if the person is using another ERP software, say, QuickBooks, there are other market options to opt for. The solution works well if one is using the SAP package.

I rate SAP Analytics Cloud as an eight out of ten.
