How are customer service and support?

Microsoft's support is good. We haven't used support since we resolve the issues by ourselves.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's setup is easy and I would rate it a nine out of ten. The solution's deployment takes only a few minutes to complete. You need to log in with your credentials to connect with any of the SharePoint environments. It took only minimal resources to deploy the product.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool is free of cost.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. You can go ahead if you look to use 2010 or 2013 on-premises versions of the solution. However, it doesn't support the latest versions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

A useful tool known for its sharing capabilities that can be deployed easily
Pros and Cons
  • "When you have a group project and you want to share your document with your group members, the solution is very useful."
  • "In the solution, if you have a case of accidental deletion, there's no restoration, which should have been there."

What is our primary use case?

When you have a group project and you want to share your document with your group members, the solution is very useful. You can share anywhere but within your organizations.

What is most valuable?

The valuable feature of the solution is that it can be shared with your colleagues, and then you can share it with everybody around the globe. You can share as long as you have been authenticated with SharePoint.

What needs improvement?

It's a web-based tool that is sufficient enough for me.

In the solution, if you have a case of accidental deletion, there's no restoration, which should have been there. This can help in restoration in case of accidental deletion happening.

Pricing and stability could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using SharePoint Designer for a year and a half. Also, I am using the solution's latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten depending on the internet access.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution's scalability is fine. I don't have much confidence in SharePoint. It's easy for me to use.

There are 360 users of the solution in my organization.

It is extensively used, but we have no plans to increase its usage.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have only used a shared folder.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not very complex. The setup phase was easy.

It took half an hour to deploy the tool.

Regarding the setup phase, it's easy and simple to use. There is nothing much to complain about.

It is based on one's experience and use cases that one reaches SharePoint. Then, you may want to share it with your colleagues based on the project. If you have a department and you want to share it among your department, you need to identify the use case before you post it with SharePoint. Once you establish the use case as a requirement, then it's easy, and it's like a sharing folder.

Two people are used for deployment and maintenance. We only have one system administrator and security team to support us on deployment.

What about the implementation team?

We used the help of a consultant or integrator to install it and for the briefing on how to use it.

What was our ROI?

I have not seen any ROI using the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The entire package is expensive. There is no extra cost in addition to the standard license.

What other advice do I have?

The solution's stability has certain shortcomings that need improvement.

To others, I would like to say that they must know what they want to do before they embark on SharePoint.

Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

A free tool for customizing pages and creating lists and libraries
Pros and Cons
  • "What I found most valuable in SharePoint Designer is that through it, you can perform a lot of SharePoint functionalities, such as creating SharePoint lists and libraries, as well as customizing pages."
  • "The pain point of SharePoint Designer is sometimes it gives you issues that can be resolved mostly by clearing the cache, but Microsoft should still work on it and make the product more stable. Another issue related to SharePoint Designer is that with the newer SharePoint versions, Microsoft hasn't released a newer version of SharePoint Designer. Instead, Microsoft is recommending that you use the same old SharePoint Designer 2013. If Microsoft updates SharePoint Designer, the product will be more beneficial."

What is our primary use case?

Our use case for SharePoint Designer is customizing SharePoint.

What is most valuable?

What I found most valuable in SharePoint Designer is that through it, you can perform a lot of SharePoint functionalities, such as creating SharePoint lists and libraries, as well as customizing pages.

What needs improvement?

The pain point of SharePoint Designer is sometimes it gives you issues that can be resolved mostly by clearing the cache, but Microsoft should still work on it and make the product more stable.

Another issue related to SharePoint Designer is that with the newer SharePoint versions, Microsoft hasn't released a newer version of SharePoint Designer. Instead, Microsoft is recommending that you use the same old SharePoint Designer 2013. If Microsoft updates SharePoint Designer, the product will be more beneficial.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using SharePoint Designer for ten or twelve years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

SharePoint Designer is a stable product, and though sometimes it gives you issues, that can be resolved by clearing the cache.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

SharePoint Designer has very good scalability.

How are customer service and support?

We've never contacted technical support for SharePoint Designer. We just searched some online help forums where we get solutions to any product issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We haven't used a different solution for SharePoint. We've only been using SharePoint Designer.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for SharePoint Designer requires no effort because it's a client application.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented SharePoint Designer in-house. In the beginning, the vendor was involved, but after that, we did it in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

SharePoint Designer is a free product. It's SharePoint that needs a license, not SharePoint Designer.

What other advice do I have?

Five people use SharePoint Designer within my company. Currently, there's no plan to increase the usage of the product.

One to two people take care of the deployment and maintenance of SharePoint Designer. Managers can use the product, but the technical staff uses it more.

Based on experience, I would recommend SharePoint Designer to other users because it's a product that's very easy to use, easy to set up, and provides a lot of functionalities in terms of customizing SharePoint.

My rating for SharePoint Designer is eight out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have prior experience using Box. Microsoft develops SharePoint Designer, and numerous companies rely on Microsoft's solutions. In my opinion, integrating SharePoint with Microsoft 365 makes it highly user-friendly. Due to its widespread adoption by many companies, SharePoint Designer offers a greater range of features and support options. However, I believe that even without an expensive subscription, Microsoft still provides a solid foundation of features. If cost reduction is a priority, I recommend considering SharePoint as a suitable choice.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is simple.

I rate the initial setup of SharePoint Designer a ten out of ten.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is reasonable.

I rate the price of SharePoint Designer an eight out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I highly recommend SharePoint Designer for those who frequently utilize quick and convenient file-sharing tools and cloud-based licensing tools. Especially if they are already using Microsoft email or other Microsoft services, SharePoint seamlessly integrates with their existing infrastructure. However, if individuals primarily rely on Google apps or related products, I believe there is no obligation for them to adopt SharePoint Designer.

I rate SharePoint Designer an eight out of ten.
