My understanding have been that Axeda is much more of a Device Cloud that of a RAD platform. Also Axeda has a strong focus on security.
First however consider that Axeda is now a PTC Business www.ptc.com/about/news-room/press-releases/2014/07/ptc-acquires-axeda) together with ThingWorx. They will eventually merge and leverage on each other's complementarities.
