I'd say there's no right answer. All the big vendors AP's and WLAN management systems are built well to perform. You can compare datasheets but you'll only ever see a little real difference in performance and capacity in a bake-off. Think about what is the best fit for your own infrastructure and environment. If it's a large projects get their SE's in to demo and assist. See what's on the roadmap etc. and you'll soon know what's going to be best for you and your organisation.

After talking to a coworker about the Cisco, those are good for office areas. They are both meant for warehouse industry areas. Neither of us are familiar with the other brand. There are a few buvs with the Cisco as it is fairly new to the market. No it does not control a 100 APs, it will control quite a few but not sure of the number though.

Cisco is a very robust solution. One characteristic difference is the radios are modular and can be upgraded for future specifications I do not believe the Alcatel-Lucent radios can. Both are quality products. I do not have direct experience with Alcatel-Lucent products except for their IP PBX for small business. The client capacity will vary based on users needs. Alcatel’s website has bad links to their 1230 data sheets so I could not get the information on the capacities. But with 802.11ac wave 2 the theoretical throughput is 2.34gbps. Price Cisco $1115 it is controller based so you need the controller. I do not have any information on pricing for the Alcatel Lucent APs

I've using CISCO Wireless AP for years now and lastly I've implemented a large Wireless network over 50 plants in the automotive field.When it came to decide which brand and model to choose, we did insite tests on different plants over the world.The only brand able to work in good conditions in hard environments (Electromagnetic disturbance, dust and humidity) was Cisco.All of the others worked well only inside offices but not in the plants.We test the maximum number of clients connected with more than 50 people connected with no significant bandwidth reduction on CISCO AP.
In terms of price, we were able to get Cisco AP for ~400 € each.
We work in the field of event WLAN - always byod and always high density.
We define high density as more than 1 connected station per m² and more than 500 stations in total.
No doubt - between the two we would go with cisco! rock solid enterprise products - period.
In our business it is not a question of money. it has to work right from the start as we built
WLAN systems for thousands of stations for just a day or a week.
If asking me in person - I would go with Meru/Fortinet AP832i or AP832e because we have a huge experience with this AP and it works just great. 4x4 MiMo and Wave 2 are not really a reason to go with an access point. if wave 2 is mandatory I would chose the FortiAP U421EV.

Stage 1 (1.200 Stations) and one of the founders asked the audience to start a speedtest.

depending on the scenario we would always propose Aruba wireless infrastructures. The reasons are:
• Standards based
• Strong integration with the Aruba switching
• Aruba’s strategy to power the intelligent edge – secure network and compute – transforming employee experience – intelligent spaces - IoT
• Aruba AirWave management
• Scalability
• Secure access with ClearPass (much better received in the market than Cisco ISE)
Aruba would be a much fairer comparison with Cisco Aironet then Lucent Alcatel. My advice is to verify this with the several Gartner reports.

Hi, I've got experience just in Cisco Wireless Produts, I don't know about Alcatel/Lucent Products. I'd choose Cisco because of their Global Leadership and know-how. They invest a lot in Development of new technologies and I think it will be the best choice for you.

To be honest if you are looking for a high density solution you should be looking at the FORTINET product set.. ap822i series with a controller
