To serve reports or adhoc queries as on day especially for regulatory or investigation purpose, we currently restore data of that day to a standby server and run the reports/queries from there. This is a very tedious and inefficient process, even if done 5 times a month. This is a common requirement/problem faced by most organizations. A data model of key tables (with limited columns) in a columnar data warehouse would be a possible solution where storage requirement would be optimal. Any suggestions or solution options will be welcome. Was looking at Vertica, Exadata, Hadoop, etc. Thanks in advance.
