When we were looking for the best server monitoring solution for our enterprise clients, we looked at both Zabbix and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
Zabbix is a professional-grade, enterprise-ready, open-source monitoring solution designed specifically for application and network monitoring. Zabbix is very robust and mature and can easily monitor millions of metrics. Zabbix is very flexible; it can be deployed both on-premise and in the cloud. With Zabbix, users get an easy-to-understand single pane of glass to easily monitor the entire IT stack, including, but not limited to:

Additionally, Zabbix offers Agentless monitoring, Synthetic Monitoring, Data, Transformation, Custom Collection Methods, a Zabbix Agent, and Flexible Metric Collection. The ability to collect metrics from any source helps tremendously to keep control of our clients’ infrastructure and maintain security.
Zabbix offers a very intuitive tool to identify problems immediately. Smart Thresholds helps to find problems with incoming metric flows automatically. Users can also use Machine Learning to identify any abnormal behaviors with baseline monitoring, and Trend Prediction to help anticipate problems using predictive tools to respond to issues proactively.
Some of our clients feel the GUI is a little too basic and needs an upgrade. They would also like to see the reporting functions fine-tuned. In some situations, we had some clients have some issues with new configurations, but those issues were able to be solved quickly as their experience with Zabbix improved.
We also looked at Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager because many of our clients are heavily invested in a Microsoft environment. Although this solution is best known for its endpoint security and patch management tools, it does also offer a very effective server monitoring dynamic. Like Zabbix, this solution is also available in both on-premise and cloud deployment options. Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager offers an integrated platform including both the Configuration Manager and Microsoft Intune, which together support on-premise servers, clients, and cloud-native management of Windows, mobile devices, and macOS. This solution does a great job of letting us know the status of our infrastructure and baseline operations. They have also done a good job with authentication solutions, such as single sign-on or open authentication.
It can be challenging to manage and configure mobile devices with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. We feel the GUI should be easier to use, and sometimes the actual monitoring of device compliance takes a bit too long to report.
In conclusion, for users heavily invested in a Microsoft environment, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is a simple choice. Although there are some limitations to this solution, it interacts seamlessly with all Microsoft solutions. Additionally, the Microsoft Intune option, which focuses on MDM and MAM, makes it very competitive as a server monitoring solution.
For our clients that are in the process of migrating away from Microsoft, and for other clients that currently use different environments, we feel Zabbix is the best choice. It is stable, scalable, user-friendly, and open-source, making it a cost-effective, trusted solution.

I use PTRG in monitoring my IT infrastructure across multiple locations.
This includes servers, network, virtual environments, and other devices on the network including my data center. It also helps in giving detail of bandwidth consumption and offers many other reports.
I love its dashboard as it comes with graphical maps, etc. I never miss any critical information using PTRG. It is a scalable monitoring solution and can also be used for large IT infrastructures.
