We use Google Cloud Identity as it is a part of the Google Workspace, and we took the Enterprise suite which comes with Google Identity. There are still some small integrations connected to Google Cloud Identity for convenience. I am still using Google Cloud Identity for small integrations.
I am using Google Cloud ( /products/google-cloud-reviews ) for containers and Firebase. We have used Firebase to create a small site at an entry-level. We are using SQL servers, but not BigQuery ( /products/bigquery-reviews ) currently. Additionally, we are also using some IoT parts.
When you try to access any application, the system needs to verify it is you. Normally, for traditional security, you just need to enter your username and password. However, with Google Cloud Identity, you can have multilayer security, such as two-step verification or multi-factor authentication. This includes receiving codes via SMS, voice calls, or using Google Authenticator. My company sells this product as part of our IT consultancy, and we use it as a system reseller and Google partner.

My company uses Google Cloud Identity in conjunction with a product called IAP, which is BeyondCorp Enterprise's authenticated proxy solution.

I've performed some tasks in the last month, such as creating users, channel applications, and single sign-on integrations with both cloud and on-premise applications.
I use the solution for dealing with Google Cloud Platform. When I use the solution for customers dealing with the Google Cloud Platform, they do not need to use Workspace. They just use Google Cloud Identity.

In my previous project, we were designing and implementing a cloud foundation for a US-based pharma customer. We set up Google Cloud Platform for them and used Cloud Identity to manage their end-users. We synchronized directly with Cloud Identity using the Google Cloud Directory Synchronization tool. That allowed us to synchronize user identities from the Microsoft Active Directory to Cloud Identity. We also synchronized Active Directory-based groups to Google Cloud then mapped the users to the groups and used those groups to assign high-end policies on the Google Cloud Platform. We also configured the Cloud Identity Single Sign-On service to enable the end-users to use their Active Directory credentials to log into the Identity Cloud platform via a single sign-on.
This is a very specific solution. The primary use case of this solution is to manage users. It's only used in one way unless there is an alteration to it.

Cloud Identity is an Identity as a Service (IDaaS) and enterprise mobility management (EMM) product. It offers the identity services and endpoint administration that are available in G Suite as a stand-alone product. As an administrator, you can use Cloud Identity to manage your users, apps, and devices from a central location - the Google Admin console.
