Even though I have been working with Immuta for just nine months, I have not seen any drawbacks yet. I would not suggest any features or integrations for future updates at this time. I haven't noticed anything that is not perfect yet in Immuta. It is very early for us. In terms of improvement areas, I would like to see simpler ways to integrate the approval workflow in other systems, such as being able to approve data access directly from Collibra on Immuta.

Immuta is very helpful, but it can be improved in a few areas. The initial setup and policy design can be complex and require a learning curve. The user interface could be more interactive, especially for non-technical users. Policy troubleshooting and debugging could be easier with better visibility into why access was allowed or denied. Performance optimization and deeper integration with more tools could make it even better. Additional improvements would strengthen Immuta further. The documentation and real-world examples would help teams onboard faster. More out-of-the-box policy templates could reduce setup time. Improved policy simulation and testing would help teams understand the impact of changes before applying them. Stronger alerting and monitoring features would help quickly identify access issues. Finally, more end-user training and simplified workflows would make it easier for business users to adopt.

We have had some challenges with their support when we were migrating to the cloud version. We we had some issues, and it took us several attempts to get a proper responses as part of that migration.

Immuta has room for improvement in several areas due to its relatively new platform. One critical aspect is the integration with databases, which is still in its early stages. Currently, Immuta can read data from the database but doesn't send the processed metadata back to the database. This disrupts the data chain, as the database must generate its own metadata to simulate what's done in Immuta. While Immuta is working on addressing this issue, the development is expected to be available next year. Another complexity arises from setting up users directly in Immuta. Immuta creates its own data syncing patterns for users from an organizational directory, like an active directory, and these patterns don't align with the database's patterns. As a result, database administrators or data governance consultants have to manually delete users from both Immuta and the database, which is an overhead task. If Immuta could automate this process by reading user information from the database, it would greatly simplify user management. This area needs improvement as well.
