Dr. Vandana Tatra is an agriculture professional, technology strategist, and advocate for digital transformation, working at the intersection of agriculture, software technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and workforce development. A Soil Scientist by education, Dr. Tatra's research focused on soil sustainability, integrated nutrient management, organic matter dynamics, and soil carbon sequestration for sustainable soil and crop production systems. Her academic work included research on the Roth-C Carbon Model, contributing to scientific understanding of carbon dynamics, climate resilience, and sustainable agricultural resource management.
Over the course of her career, Dr. Tatra has evolved from agricultural research and skilling leadership into a strong proponent of technology-enabled agricultural transformation. Her work increasingly focuses on integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, cloud computing, geospatial intelligence, drone technologies, Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and digital platforms into agricultural education, workforce development, and innovation ecosystems.
She is particularly interested in the application of AI and software-driven solutions for precision agriculture, predictive farming, crop intelligence, climate-risk assessment, smart irrigation, soil health monitoring, agricultural robotics, remote sensing, satellite-based farm analytics, computer vision, yield forecasting, pest and disease detection, carbon farming, and regenerative agriculture. Dr. Tatra serves as an Honorary Council Member of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) Haryana Agriculture Council and is an Empanelled Proofreader with the Directorate of Knowledge Management in Agriculture (DKMA). She actively contributes to knowledge management, educational innovation, and capacity-building initiatives that support the adoption of emerging technologies across the agriculture sector.
With extensive expertise in competency-based frameworks, curriculum engineering, instructional systems design, digital content architecture, learning management systems, and workforce transformation, she has contributed significantly to strengthening India's agricultural skilling ecosystem. She has edited and contributed to more than 160 skilling and upskilling books in English and Hindi, covering agriculture, agri-business, agri-tech, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and rural development.
