The Building Inspection System is a web-based application designed to assist users in locating specific addresses across the Netherlands and exploring various Points of Interest (POIs) via integration with Azure Maps. The system allows users to search for locations, displays a map marker upon selection, and presents detailed contextual information including Wikipedia descriptions, navigation directions, and official address data (BAG).
Key Responsibilities & Features:
Developed and integrated interactive map features using Azure Maps for location search and POI visualization.
Implemented backend services in Spring Boot to handle data retrieval from multiple external APIs.
Consumed and processed data from the following third-party APIs:
Wikipedia REST API: Fetched encyclopedic and contextual information about selected locations.
Kadaster PDOK APIs: Utilized Dutch cadastral services to access land parcel and ownership information.
BAG API (Basisregistratie Adressen en Gebouwen: Integrated with official Dutch building address registries
Rijksmonumentenregister API: Retrieved and displayed national heritage monument data from the Cultural Heritage Agency (RCE).
