Our user data shows that for enterprise tech professionals, features such as customizable plugins and monitoring abilities, flexibility based on network size, and quick deployment are particularly beneficial.
What other advice do users give to those evaluating IT infrastructure management software?
Zabbix is definitely one of the fantastic NMS software that I used in my large network environment. Everything is good but it is unable to generate a report as per customer defined SLA as I did in PRTG. Not possible to get real time traffic in Zabbix but gather SNMP information every after 5 mins average by default and possible with 30 sec average. After getting SNMP data in Graph, If you want at any time "t"on a host or node to view its graph on average, it should be able to see the graph up to that time "t".
Moreover CACTI & JFFNMS front interface is quite good than Zabbix but less stable for long period. I don't have idea about CA UIM because I never used it before.
Recently I was trying to identify a suitable NMS as system integrator for Telco environment (Nokia offering to operator) . Nokia trying to get confirmation on log monitoring (tool should be able to monitor applications and their logs for alerts/warnings/errors) Integrating the tool with SIEM (IBM Omnibus). Nagios XI Enterprise Edition has ready systems that support everything but PRTG is telling unfortunately they got no experience values concerning IBM® Tivoli® Netcool®/OMNIbus. PRTG Integration with Omnibus looks like possible from this link - www.solutioning.eu/2015/10/19/integrating-omnibus-and-prtg-using-snmp-probe/ Using PRTG to get SNMP traps you have to create notification trigger before. The status or the data of a sensor can trigger notifications. Using this mechanism, you can configure external alerting tailored to your needs.
www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/setting_up_a_notification_example www.paessler.com/manuals/prtg/sensor_notifications_settings AS PRTG technical team is not sure before sell the Product; Nokia has selected Nagios XI. It has other Drawbacks in below. Nokia can't resell this product to end Customer (Operator) as per below policy. However operator agreed to purchase directly to avoid policy. See some limitation:
**Nagios XI Enterprise has another limitation for support service. Bundle package you can engage support team only 10 times over phone within this package otherwise you have to purchase another 10 times or more that not defined.
Phone Support Price
10 Call Pack $1495
5 Call Pack $995
Up to ten email support incidents per year depending on license level purchased.
** Policy Agreement:
a) Nagios Enterprises hereby grants Customer a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-assignable, non-sub licensable right to use the Nagios Software for Permitted Use on the Licensed Systems with the exception of Nagios Software that requires yearly renewal for full functionality.
b) The use of Nagios Software on Licensed Systems by Customer for internal business purposes only, without use in a Derivative Product, as a hosted service, or in any product or service intended for resale.
Unless until you are expert on Nagios XI Enterprise; Commercial package is really helpless for general customer. They could charge yearly basis support service with unlimited remote support and unlimited phone call but they didn’t give this facility. In that case Nagios is costly and delivering restricted support service to customers which is not good.
Other hand; PRTG support response is good (Not better or best) in email during maintenance contact period but never allow remote desktop support. They allow phone support when you call them during office hour but they never call you under support contract in critical time.
However; we need to analysis comparison for all open source NMS software's in separate section than commercial software. Otherwise it will make confusion for the actual rating.
I would like to better understand why folks like to customize a product rather than have the feature function as part of the core product. CA UIM is flexible and customizable but it's not as known because it's not as necessary due to the rich feature functionality. I'd welcome any feedback you may have.
Better support and more accessible resources are crucial. Customers have expressed that support is not as flexible, and it is difficult to obtain necessary information quickly. Customers would benefit from improved training material for integration with other products. The solution's pricing is high and needs to be reconsidered, and the technical support should improve to provide more accessibl...
We would like the navigation of this solution to be more user-friendly for our system administrators. Also, the solution is quite complicated, so we would like there to be better documentation on the processes, in order to ensure we know exactly how it works.

I'm very happy with DX Unified Infrastructure Management, but what could be improved is its user interface because currently, it has many wide spaces. All the information you need is in DX Unified Infrastructure Management, and it's a reliable tool, and though that's more important than the gaps in the user interface being smaller or wider, those gaps still need some improvement. I know the team is working on it. My company had some backend problems with DX Unified Infrastructure Management in the past that have now been solved. The setup for the tool also needs improvement because it's complex. Another room for improvement in DX Unified Infrastructure Management is its technical support because it's sometimes not as knowledgeable or responsive. What I'm suggesting to be added to the tool is an open-standard ELK Elastic-based database where you can put in all data, so that you can use the data in other systems as well.
Dynatrace is the leader in the APM market with reason, it is well worth giving it a decent evaluation for full end-to-end monitoring of infrastructure and code.

Hello!
Why Zabbix is not included in a list www.itcentralstation.com/categories/it-infrastructure-monitoring ?
Zabbix is most compared competitor of Nagios according to this report.
