| Software Solutions Architect at SPEData | 3.0 | I use Arcserve OneXafe mainly for persistent data backup in Brazilian retail; it offers solid data protection and efficiency, but limited market awareness and costly setup reduce its appeal despite its effectiveness in hybrid environments. |
| owner at Extrabite - Sistemas Informáticos, Lda | 4.5 | I use Arcserve OneXafe for backing up my VM infrastructure due to its simplicity and scalability. While it's effective for data protection, the price is high. I also work with ShadowProtect from StorageCraft and use Microsoft Azure for deployment. |
The main use case for this product is that I use a backup repository for persistent data. I use it exclusively for this purpose.
The industry I use this for is financial, specifically Brazilian retail.
Generally, this is an SMB kind of use case.
The most valuable features of Arcserve OneXafe are improving persistent data, which I believe is very important. I use other products too, not only Arcserve OneXafe; we use TrueNAS as well.
I have utilized Arcserve OneXafe's data deduplication feature. It helps my storage efficiency significantly. The product satisfaction with this product helps with storage efficiency.
Regarding Arcserve OneXafe's immutable object storage helping against ransomware, the call was not clear, and I had difficulty listening to what was discussed.
Arcserve OneXafe improves precision of data. I have used Arcserve OneXafe's continuous data protection. This is beneficial for operational continuity because we use it constantly. I have no objections to Arcserve OneXafe technology; I think that is very good.
There are areas that could be improved. We use other technologies for persistent data as well. So we depend on the options that create what my clients prefer in terms of technology. Arcserve OneXafe is not used in many cases in the market that we work in. It is more about whether the client knows about the technology, which facilitates the implementation of other technology.
I have been using this product for four to five years.
I can say that Arcserve support is good, but the staff in Brazil is very reduced, so we need to talk with foreigners. The support was not in Portuguese, so it could be difficult for our clients.
I have local support; we have a team that has expertise in the solution. We usually do not ask questions to Arcserve; most of the time, we resolve situations in-house.
Neutral
My clients used other file and object storage or used something else before using Arcserve. They usually use other technologies as well. We use Arcserve OneXafe and others like TrueNAS or NFS. We use a combination of solutions that could be safe and cost-effective.
The main difference between Arcserve and other file and object storage products is that Arcserve is a very important point because these clients use Arcserve UDP in their facility. Arcserve OneXafe was an option in the past as part of a combination of products. Now Arcserve is the other product.
I used other products like UDP as well. I did use something like ShadowProtect or SaaS Backup, but in most cases, these are only for backup. ShadowProtect is an interesting technology as well. In most cases, it is just the backup like Arcserve Backup.
Regarding pricing and setup cost, my client said all the options are very expensive. Price is always a key point for Brazilian clients, especially in retail; first of all is the cost, so the operational cost is very high.
The setup cost for UDP is very important, but the price is similar. All of our options for clients is to have a backup on-premises and make a replication in the cloud.
I think Veeam's marketing is very strong because of the VMware association, which is a great problem. The great problem is Veeam's marketing, but we are not a Veeam partner; we work with Veeam.
The integration with multiple operating systems through Arcserve Backup is very good and very efficient. The value it brings for my use cases is that many of my clients have different operating systems, such as Windows solutions and Linux, with no problem.
The deduplication and compression with Arcserve Backup does not help. Arcserve UDP is the solution that we work with and use.
I am describing the solutions for education, finance, retail, and more. I utilize UDP's global source-side deduplication. It is beneficial, but we cannot talk much about the solution that we use to our clients.
The adaptability of UDP in hybrid IT environments is very good. I have used their SLA-driven data protection, and it is also good for data protection. The protection aspect does compare with Veeam or Commvault; I would say their protection is equally good.
With a good combination, we use many technologies for in-house, on-premises, and cloud environments. We have the servers to use in the hybrid environment.
My review rating for this product is 6 out of 10.

I use Arcserve OneXafe for backup of my VM infrastructure. I have some virtual machines, and I want to make a backup.
The simplicity and the ability to perform small backups are the most effective features for data protection in Arcserve OneXafe. It supports my organization very well in terms of scalability.
The price is not the best; it is too high. It's not the best solution in terms of price, although the solution itself is good.
I have been familiar with the solution for more than three years.
I would rate the stability of the product as nine out of ten. It is very stable.
I would rate the scalability of Arcserve as nine out of ten. It supports my organization very well.
I don't communicate with support directly. It is handled by my colleague.
Positive
I work with ShadowProtect from StorageCraft and VM solutions in addition to Arcserve.
The initial setup was done in about one or two hours and involved two engineers.
Two engineers from my company took part in the installation.
I don't have ROI information since we only make backups.
The price is not the best; it's too high, but the solution is good.
We work with VM solutions and ShadowProtect from StorageCraft.
I would recommend Arcserve OneXafe Safe to other companies because of its simplicity.
My overall rating for Arcserve OneXafe Safe is nine out of ten.
