What is most valuable?
How has it helped my organization?
Building the project portfolio in FLIGHTMAP helps our team decide on a suitable set of KPIs for our overall projects. KPIs are set for different metrics like time, resources, staffing, costs, risks & benefits.
Once we have a portfolio composed, then we visually optimize the portfolio to find the right project mix for our requirements. The visual insight analysis is intuitive, it always helps to explore a data set with the various chart types; most notably, we use the bubble chart, project funnel chart, and portfolio roadmap.
For financial metrics, we use the pie chart and bar chart. Our most common PPM actions are set up in the workflow module that runs automated processes based on our pre-set criteria.
The visual diagrams and data from FLIGHTMAP can be automatically exported to reports (presentations, documents, and spreadsheets).
What needs improvement?
- Additional keyboard shortcuts (especially for advanced users)
- Map visualisation for global portfolios (e.g., to achieve regional balance in investment and budgets)
- Maybe some other PPM visualisations we might not be aware of
- Examples for workflow (case studies or additional use cases)
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have seen FLIGHTMAP run for more than a year with no technical issues or downtime. The scheduled upgrades for the SaaS version are planned in advance and occur seamlessly for our business hours.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The SaaS version supports more than a hundred projects for us. We have a small but growing number of users and we haven't faced any difficulty onboarding new people.
How are customer service and technical support?
We have a direct phone line to the support team for any urgent matters; we can also submit online tickets and reach the support team with email for additional support. The team is always available during business hours and handles our requests very well. The product integrates very well with other enterprise software using the available connectors for Microsoft Excel and Enterprise Project Management; for more generic integration, it imports/exports to XML. The additional services provided helped us find the right data set for our PPM processes, and the team worked closely with us to prepare the data from for quality and to upload it to FLIGHTMAP.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
The difference we noticed between FLIGHTMAP and other solutions is that the product is built entirely for PPM. The focus is clearly on project portfolio capabilities and it does that very well. Other platforms offer a less-focused approach to PPM and seem to focus more on project-per-project management.
What other advice do I have?
From our SaaS version experience, I recommend FLIGHTMAP; the product handles portfolios of different types, like R&D projects, business improvement projects, IT projects, and other business operations including manufacturing. Introducing additional keyboard shortcuts can be considered for making interaction with the software easier for advanced users.
