What is our primary use case?
I use DeepSeek for conducting research on complex questions and performing reasoning on complex questions. There have been countless instances where I needed to find answers to questions that would usually require watching a YouTube video or making multiple searches on Google and reading blog articles.
What is most valuable?
DeepSeek makes its reasoning traces public. This allows me to see how the LLM is 'thinking,' which can build trust and transparency in its responses.
What needs improvement?
I have data privacy concerns. The product is often extremely slow, and queries frequently fail due to system overload. DeepSeek needs to improve in stability, uptime, speed, and ensuring the tool is reachable and delivers quick answers.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using DeepSeek for six months.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
I have data privacy concerns, and the product is often extremely slow. Queries frequently fail due to system overload.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The product is often extremely slow, and queries frequently fail due to system overload.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
DeepSeek does not even work well for a single user, so scalability is an issue with the web product. If deployed locally, scalability should not be an issue.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
What other advice do I have?
I advise not to use the web interface or the mobile app. If you think you should use it, use the self-hosted version. I gave DeepSeek a rating of 3 out of 10 because the core product, when it works, is actually good. But so often it's not working that I just can't give it a higher score.
