How has it helped my organization?
More and more users are actively using the platform to understand the data, the owners/stewards and point of contacts. Information about DSAR compliance APIs are documented in the Catalog, which acts as a centralized information repository for DSAR processing.
What is most valuable?
The UI is straightforward for technical users with organized features under different modules like data catalog and business glossary. The role-based access control and integration with the directory system allow strict governance and limited user access. The APIs are comprehensive, enabling integration with other systems even for creating virtual data catalogs.
What needs improvement?
The lack of connectivity to mainframe systems and the complexity of integration with legacy data systems are areas needing improvement. Advanced jobs require extra training and fine-tuning, making them hard to grasp. The automatic upgrade process needs stabilizing.

I have been working with the solution for about 3 years (since May 2021)

We had performance issues in the past, however, it is okay now.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
With Rancher for deployment, scaling up and down is super easy and works well even with the Helm chart.

The technical support is very flexible and accommodative, helping to troubleshoot and fix issues during integration.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Not really. Some info such as Stewards were kept in Active Directory. But we did not have a data catalog.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was complex, requiring tech support involvement due to non-compatible default configurations and issues during database structure changes in upgrades.
What about the implementation team?
Helm chart was provided. We may be able to deploy it on our own. But Ovaledge offered support to ensure smoother installation
What was our ROI?
The primary use case was GDPR compliance, which has been met. The data discovery feature has reduced the engineering team's support workload by enabling self-service for data queries.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is affordable compared to other tools, and we opted for 500 user license.

Over time, OvalEdge has improved significantly. While there are many open-source tools available, OvalEdge offers better flexibility and security.
