Unified data governance has reduced manual effort and accelerates trusted AI model oversight
Improvement with respect to adding more connectors is one thing I feel which needs to be looked at. Right now, Collibra Platform provides many connectors and native connections, out-of-the-box connectors, but the technology landscape is overgrowing, and several new enterprise tools are coming in the market. The number of connectors can be increased. Secondly, to use Collibra Platform APIs, you need to always have a JSON Web Token or admin access, so that process can be improvised. Third, Collibra Platform can try and test how to make the work faster with more and more agents. Capturing the lineage becomes a little cumbersome in Collibra Platform when the technology landscape is a combination of multiple tools, so that is one thing which can be simplified. I have already added the integration with other tools, so that is one area which needs to be improvised and there is scope for improvement. Another thing is bringing in more agents to agentify things and making work faster.

Enables comprehensive data governance with role-based access and directory integration
The UI is straightforward for technical users with organized features under different modules like data catalog and business glossary. The role-based access control and integration with the directory system allow strict governance and limited user access. The APIs are comprehensive, enabling integration with other systems even for creating virtual data catalogs.

Pros

"It's a user-friendly tool, even for non-technical people."
"Collibra is very good at talking to modern database systems like a normal RDBMS, a DB2, or a SQL server or an Oracle."
"The most valuable features of Collibra Lineage are the multiple options for automation, and if you have a scenario where automation does not work, you have the option to manually create the lineage."
"Collibra Governance comes with a lot of features, and we have used it in one of our projects for metadata management and data lineage."
"The technical support from Collibra Governance is excellent, and I rate it as ten out of ten."

"The most valuable features of Collibra are the workflows and the data lineage capabilities, as they help improve the client's existing processes by allowing you to map those into workflows so the processes can be directly executed on Collibra."
"The feature I like most in Collibra Governance is the lineage, which lets me set up technical and business lineage and associate the right people with the right assets so anybody who has to look at end-to-end instances can figure out who to contact, what to do, and where to find what they need."
"The UI is straightforward for technical users with organized features under different modules like data catalog and business glossary."
"Over time, OvalEdge has improved significantly."

Cons

"The lack of connectivity to mainframe systems and the complexity of integration are areas needing improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Collibra is a bit expensive."
"I am not so much aware of price details. Initially, there was an add-on NuSoft license to use the DVC connector that NuSoft gives to create integrations, but Collibra is now phasing out of it slowly. Collibra is cutting ties with them is what we have been led to believe, and we have started developing on Spring Boot, which is open source."
"I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
"It's expensive, especially for small companies."
"Collibra Governance is an expensive solution."
"The solution's pricing is moderate and not very expensive."
"It is substantial, and we do pay yearly."
"There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
