What is our primary use case?
Our client is using the solution for a project in its initial stages.
We have a vast portfolio with over 200 applications. It has been really tough for us to see the value of our portfolio. We also want to address certain risks within our enterprise architecture.
We believe the solution will help us create some form of transparency so that we can properly govern our application portfolio.
Once we reach implementation, we will have more than 100 users. We have two big sites that are separate entities and then the head office. The solution will be set up across all three sides.
What is most valuable?
The solution has provided us with a view of the truth in terms of our application portfolio. That is the foundational thing we are looking for to move forward and see the cost drivers, and applications inter-dependencies within our application portfolio.
What needs improvement?
The initial setup is challenging because it relies on information from different stakeholders.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for one month.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable. I am using it from my home office with no issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable with potential for growth. We are starting small and scaling up with no concerns.
How are customer service and support?
I talk with Software AG when I have issues or don't understand something. So far, their help has been excellent.
How would you rate customer service and support?
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is a bit of a struggle. It relies on the availability of information from different stakeholders.
For the setup to be done correctly, the most correct or closely correct information is needed to ensure referential integrity and a good foundation. Things like abilities, processes, systems, and costs are important to include at the outset.
I rate setup a seven out of ten.
What about the implementation team?
Implementation is occurring in-house. I am new to the team so I have no idea how long things took in the past.
I do know that the team has been trying to implement the whole system for almost one year. Someone was needed to focus solely on the implementation so I was brought on board to manage it.
I am gathering information from stakeholders or the business overall and populating the information. I am setting up any ad hoc answers to questions the company may want answered.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am with a third-party so am not privy to costs.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
The solution was chosen to manage portfolio growth which is really big. It is very difficult to govern when you have no idea of the architectural interdependencies and the drivers. The solution fit our goals for the project.
I recently joined the team and am in the process of moving toward implementation. I have only been using the solution one month and am studying really hard to learn how it works. I did a bit of free training through links provided on LinkedIn and am looking forward to seeing things from training come to reality.
The company should be able to get something out of the solution with regard to business continuity, information security, and risk management.
Since I am still setting the solution up within our company, I cannot give much feedback until I use it a bit more.
What other advice do I have?
I have just started toward the goal of implementation, so don't have much knowledge of the solution beyond my initial training.
It is important for any company to define what they want from the solution. For example, one recommendation is that companies pick questions they want answered right at the outset. One company might say they want to know about their application landscape. Another company might say they want to see cost drivers. If you strategically prioritize your questions, then you will be able to go through implementation with less pain.
Based on my use so far, I see the potential of the solution. I have been part of the company for a long time so I understand its pain points. I believe the solution is the right tool to get a clear view of governance, cost drivers, and cost containment.
I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
