What is our primary use case?
My main use case for Aviatrix is primarily in cloud networking and secure multi-cloud architecture projects.
In one project, I used Aviatrix to set up secure connectivity between AWS and Azure environments using its transit gateway architecture and centralized firewall policies. This helped us simplify routing, enforce security, and get better visibility across our multi-cloud setup.
In addition to connectivity, Aviatrix also gave us centralized visibility and control, which made troubleshooting, monitoring, and enforcing consistent security policies across clouds much easier.
How has it helped my organization?
Aviatrix has positively impacted our organization by helping us simplify multi-cloud operations, improve security posture, and reduce troubleshooting time.
With Aviatrix, we saw around a 30 to 40% reduction in troubleshooting time due to better visibility, and deployment time improved by nearly 50% with automation.
What is most valuable?
The best features of Aviatrix are centralized multi-cloud control and the built-in security, zero trust, firewalling, and deep network visibility.
The deep network visibility feature gave us end-to-end traffic insights across clouds, including flow-level data and real-time monitoring, helping us quickly identify bottlenecks, detect misconfigurations, and troubleshoot issues much faster.
Another standout is how Aviatrix combines networking and security in a single platform.
What needs improvement?
Aviatrix can improve by simplifying its UI or UX for new users, enhancing documentation for complex setups, and reducing the learning curve so that juniors can understand it better.
One additional area is better cost optimization insights and reporting. While Aviatrix is powerful, more built-in recommendations for cost efficiency and resource usage would help teams manage budgets more effectively.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Aviatrix for approximately 1.5 years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Aviatrix is highly stable and reliable in production environments.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Aviatrix is highly scalable. It supports multi-region and multi-cloud expansion with ease using its transit gateway architecture and hub-and-spoke design.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support of Aviatrix has been strong and responsive.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We previously relied on native cloud networking tools such as AWS VPC and Microsoft Azure Networking. We switched to Aviatrix for better multi-cloud consistency, centralized control, and enhanced security features, which were harder to achieve with native tools alone.
How was the initial setup?
We onboarded Aviatrix through the AWS Marketplace, which made procurement and deployment much faster.
What was our ROI?
Using Aviatrix, we saw a clear ROI through approximately a 30 to 40% reduction in network management effort, which meant fewer resources were needed for operations, along with faster deployments of around 50% improvement, and reduced downtime, translating into cost savings and better productivity.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
With Aviatrix, pricing is on the higher side but justified by the features and performance. Setup costs were moderate, especially when deployed via AWS Marketplace, and licensing is flexible but can feel complex initially, requiring some time to fully understand.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing Aviatrix, we evaluated native solutions from AWS and Microsoft Azure, along with third-party options such as Cisco and VMware networking solutions.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend clearly understanding your multi-cloud architecture upfront and investing time in learning the core concepts of Aviatrix. Start with a small deployment or POC and leverage the documentation and support to reduce the learning curve and maximize value quickly. I gave this review a rating of 8.
