Marketers have gained low‑code control and now build personalized journeys that boost conversions
One of the improvements needed for Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) involves platform sizing and pricing transparency, which is the most consistent complaint I have seen across various clients. The way Acquia sizes its platform for customers is described as ambiguous and often results in penalties after doing business. Users also note that overall cost can be high and limits accessibility for smaller businesses. Additionally, the Site Factory provisioning environment takes a lot of time, and often more environments are needed than what is available by default, requiring you to go through support and sales processes. For teams handling CI/CD pipelines and needing fast environment spin-ups, this lag is a real bottleneck. Support gaps exist since support follows standard SLAs, and sometimes there are different difficulties when dealing with critical issues due to the lack of a 24/7 available team.

Centralized content management has unified our digital channels and delivers consistent experiences
Adobe Experience Manager offers enterprise-level digital assets management and very robust customization, brand value consistency, and omnichannel delivery. It saves development and maintenance time. The digital asset management and omnichannel delivery features have benefited my team by managing our digital assets, ensuring brand consistency, and enabling us to deliver customized content easily to our clients. Organizing and obtaining information from results is beneficial. Strengthening our online experience as a brand is valuable. Easy integration with other Adobe services improves productivity and provides a smooth experience. Adobe Experience Manager has positively impacted my organization by enabling component and page reuse, which reduces application size. It saves manual effort for maintaining all applications, improves traffic, and ensures consistency across all our applications. It provides better security, scalability, and makes our applications more robust.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Because for every new site that I have to spin up, it uses the same governed components, it makes it faster, launches with zero brand drift, and editors never need a developer for day-to-day page building."
"Content Hub provides a centralized way to manage content."
"One of the platform's key strengths is its ability to unify content management, personalization, and customer data into a single experience layer, enabling my team to build highly tailored digital journeys across multiple channels for enterprise websites like the one I work for, as well as e-commerce integrations and customer portals."
"Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has positively impacted my organization by improving speed to market, where opening up a new country allowed us to put the content together very rapidly, reducing the time from a good three months previously down to six to eight weeks."
"One of the most valuable aspects is working with a recognized firm, which sometimes surpasses the commercial and marketing requirements for big customers."
"Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) has positively impacted my organization primarily through its ease of use, making it easier to generate content and pages, especially from a marketing perspective, so entry-level people can access it and utilize it as well as advanced users, appealing to a range of people."
"Since moving to Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP), we have saved approximately three times the amount of time in deployment and site creation processes."
"Building pages using Site Studio components was very easy, and using Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) for our website and project was really great."
"I like the profiling and segmentation."
"Adobe Experience Manager has made document management smoother because many people use Adobe, making it simpler for me to modify and resend PDF documents."
"The Asset module has received a lot of focus and is currently one of the best solutions for Digital Asset Management out there."
"The most valuable features of Adobe Experience Manager include its capability to manage content and create reusable fragments."
"The best feature is the experience fragment; if you want to replicate content across multiple websites with 1,000 or 20,000 pages, this feature helps accomplish it in a fraction of seconds."
"If you're looking for a .NET based CMS, do yourself a favor and go with an open source CMS."
"I like the native applications such as Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics, and Adobe Experience Platform. Because of these, it's very easy to connect and obtain reports on how my website is doing, how many have visited it, how frequently, etc. The multiple publisher concept is one of the best parts of this solution."
"Using Adobe Experience Manager has positively impacted our organization by improving our efficiency significantly."

Cons

"I have heard it was a little high, but I do not have the specific details."
"One area where Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) can be improved is the cost structure, as it's quite an expensive solution for what it is."
"We faced loading issues, performance issues, and some kind of optimization issues on some pages."
"Additionally, the licensing and pricing may challenge small organizations with limited budgets; offering more flexible pricing models or feature packages could make the platform more accessible to a wider range of businesses."
"Acquia Digital Experience Platform (DXP) could be improved by allowing more customization options, as it currently has limitations with hooks in its core Drupal system that prevent us from making custom modules easily."
"The support usually worked quite well, but the problem that led us to shift to another platform was also in support, as the quality of service degraded at some point, which became a bit of a problem."
"Once the site was originally developed, it needed to be transferred onto Acquia, which was quite a task."
"In terms of scalability, Acquia is not suitable for e-commerce; it's more suited for content publishing and marketing websites."
"This review attempts to sum up the miserable experience of using Ektron from a developer's perspective, a server administrator's perspective, and the actual end content editor's perspective."
"In comparison to other CMS products, Adobe Experience Manager is missing some capabilities such as proper versioning or a better versioning system and backend connectivity. If something is deleted in AEM, the user cannot recover it. You have to call technical support, and they will need to recover the whole instance. So, it's really difficult. For example, if you delete a page, you cannot recover it. There should be an option to recover it. In AEM, you have to go to the previous state of the instance itself or the virtual machine, and you have to restore everything, which is not good."
"If something is deleted in AEM, the user cannot recover it. You have to call technical support, and they will need to recover the whole instance."
"AEM, when setup using Mongo, rapidly gains size; hence it consumes a lot of storage space in a very short period of time."
"I haven't seen any areas for improvement in Adobe Experience Manager as it's a full-fledged CMS tool, and Adobe is already working on enhancements for the solution. Adobe is working to make Adobe Experience Manager more valuable and easier to use for any user, even non-technical ones, through multiple components and templates. Day by day, Adobe provides the latest update to Adobe Experience Manager, and if my team needs any particular change, it just needs to be reported to the Adobe team. As Adobe Experience Manager has a broad scope and a lot of use cases and features, it's a solution that requires some time and effort from you in terms of learning, especially if you're implementing it for different clients, which could be an area for improvement."
"The licensing model is opaque, and technical support could be improved, especially for smaller companies."
"I assigned a rating of eight because there are certain limitations we must consider, and there are restrictions in Adobe Experience Manager that we cannot resolve."
"The pricing and setup cost for Adobe Experience Manager is a bit higher compared to different content management tools."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There's a free trial for one month for Adobe Experience Manager, which you can use for learning purposes, then, after the trial period, you'll need to purchase the license. Adobe offers a few plans for Adobe Experience Manager, but I'm unaware of how much my company is paying."
"It's a costly solution. I would rate the price at two out of five on a scale from one to five, where one is the most expensive and five is the most competitive."
"Users have to pay a yearly licensing fee to use the solution, which is highly-priced."
"It's really costly."
