Automation has streamlined onboarding and governance and delivers faster, more secure access
Overall, we are very satisfied with Active Roles by One Identity, but there are a few areas that could be improved. The user interface could be more modern and intuitive, especially for new administrators. Some advanced configuration and policy settings have a steep learning curve and could be simplified. We would also like to see more built-in integrations with cloud platforms and SaaS applications, along with additional out-of-the-box reporting templates. These improvements would make the product even easier and more flexible for organizations managing hybrid environments. One thing that would make our daily work even smoother is having more ready-to-use templates for common administrative tasks and reports. This would reduce the need for customization and help teams get up and running more quickly. Additionally, faster and simpler synchronization for hybrid and cloud environments would be beneficial, especially for organizations managing both on-premises and cloud identities. More detailed documentation and guided setup for advanced features would help new administrators learn the platform faster and more easily. One additional improvement I would like to see for Active Roles by One Identity is a better built-in dashboard with more real-time insights into identity and access activities. It would be helpful if upgrades and migrations were simpler and required less planning. Finally, expanding native integrations with more cloud services and third-party applications would make the platform even more versatile and reliable. These enhancements would improve the overall user experience while keeping the product's strong security and automation capabilities.

Automated SaaS access governance has reduced OAuth risks and improves audit readiness
The best features are deep OAuth app visibility, real-time risk detection, automated remediation, risk scoring and prioritization, and SaaS-to-SaaS threat detection. The real-time risk detection and alerts have benefited us the most. Astrix continuously monitors connections and third-party apps, flagging high-risk applications automatically when risky permission, suspicious behavior, or unusual access patterns are detected. This helped us considerably. Since deploying Astrix, we've seen a 42% reduction in high-risk third-party OAuth apps, a 65% reduction in dormant SaaS integration, faster vendor offboarding from days to an hour, and improved audit readiness. The faster offboarding has been transformative. Before Astrix, offboarding was mostly manual and checklist-driven. When an employee or vendor left, we would disable their primary account, remove them from groups, manually review shared drives, and try to identify third-party apps they had authorized. After Astrix, it is centralized, automated, and immediate.

"After moving to One Identity Active Roles, I achieve better automation, improved security through controlled delegation, and enhanced compliance with detailed auditing and reporting, significantly improving efficiency and reducing operational risk compared to the previous approach."
"The AD and AAD management features of this solution are really good... They offer added value by showing more fields such as password age and the statuses of some things that we normally wouldn't see."
"One Identity Active Roles has positively impacted our organization by improving AD administration efficiency, reducing manual errors, strengthening access governance, and helping to standardize user provisioning and compliance processes across the team."
"One Identity Active Roles has impacted my organization positively by reducing manual work, improving security, saving administrative time, and reducing human errors."
"There are a lot of other benefits that we take advantage of that are above and beyond the native Active Directory functions that Microsoft provides."
"One Identity Active Roles has positively impacted the organization by significantly improving efficiency through automating repetitive tasks and saving time for the IT team."
"ARS probably saves us at least two weeks out of every month."
"We went from having zero visibility to complete third-party integration visibility, which helps us considerably."
"Since deploying Astrix, we've seen a 42% reduction in high-risk third-party OAuth apps, a 65% reduction in dormant SaaS integration, faster vendor offboarding from days to an hour, and improved audit readiness."
"Astrix offers excellent observability features that track the user query, what the user sent, what prompt was sent to the LLM, what the LLM response sent, what retrieval documents were checked, and what tools were called, along with the final response."

Cons

"When doing a workflow, we would like a bit better feedback on the screen, as we're trying to get it to work. For example, there is a "Find" function that you need set up in a workflow to do some of the automation. It is not the easiest to get a result from those finds when you're trying to do that. In the MMC, they have a couple different types of workflows. In this particular case, we use their workflow functionality to find all of X within the environment, then if you find it, do X, Y, and Z. You can have multiple steps. When you do that search function within that workflow, it's really hard to find out, "Is my search working?" It would be nice if there was some feedback on the screen so you could see if your search is working properly within the workflow."
"One area for improvement would be troubleshooting and reporting."
"One area for improvement would be the initial setup, which feels a little bit complex and could be simplified."
"The main area of improvement would be the user interface and ease of configuration, particularly configuration with AD should be much improved."
"One area that could be improved in One Identity Active Roles is the user interface and initial configuration process, as some advanced workflows and policy settings can be complex for new administrators."
"One thing I can add is that One Identity Active Roles could be more simplified for the initial setup and configuration."
"One Identity Active Roles can be improved, as the user interface could be more modernized and the reporting and analytics feature could be enhanced."
"For mid-sized to small companies, I do not know if it would be that useful, considering the tool's purpose."
"Astrix could be improved with deeper coverage on on-premises and hybrid application environments."
"Astrix is good regarding its accuracy and reliability of output, but the initial setup feels somewhat complex."
"Customer support could be improved so that faster support on services would attract more customers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for Active Roles is expensive but not as expensive as other solutions like Okta."
"It's fairly priced."
"It's expensive."
"The price is reasonable. It costs us about 1 million Danish kroner annually, and we also spend about half as much on consultants."
"The licensing model is a simple user-based model, not that much complicated."
"The pricing is high. I have not been involved with the renewal or cost aspect, but I know it is not cheap by any means. However, it is very useful for our environment."
"The pricing is on the higher end."
