Implements real-time threat monitoring and reduces false positives with automated remediation
An area for improvement is in integrating AGentic architectures for retrieval-intensive applications in cloud infrastructures. Ensuring that Airgap Zero Trust Enterprise can work with AI agents and protect applications managed by them would be a significant enhancement. In addition, addressing the issue of the occasional hang could improve the product.

Has improved network visibility and security through micro-segmentation and SDN capabilities
This feature gives us flexibility and allows us to manage everything under one pane. We can see everything on one console, including network operations and behavior. Monitoring and security are among the best features for VMware NSX. For micro-segmentation, it's integrated with our endpoint security. If there are any issues with servers or VMs, it notifies us so we can isolate the servers and investigate. It provides distributed security features such as firewall and intrusion, IDS, IPS. The security level with IPS and IDS in VMware NSX is excellent. It also provides logical switching and routing which gives an extra layer for Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching requirements. The solution provides flexibility, automation, and self-service capabilities, resulting in cost savings as extensive expertise isn't required. Once automation and self-service are implemented, many tasks can be completed automatically. Load balancing is another excellent feature. Multiple servers can run on load balancing features, which is particularly useful since we have many application servers running. Sharing loads between servers provides the best performance.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The return on investment has been significant, as Airgap Zero Trust Enterprise has proved to be cost-effective."
"NSX gives us the ability to put our network, NSX, onto any network there is, which allows us not to have to go to the network team to create networks or VLANs for networks, and we can just create all our networks right from the start."
"The microsegmentation is a good feature. You can segment details, products, or hardware information."
"The micro-segmentation and the ability to create policy rules are valuable."
"VMware NSX has improved our customers' organizations through its automation of security policies, delivery of policy by intent, rapid provisioning, and removing security as being a blocker."
"Our clients are very satisfied that we can limit ourselves to NSX without the need to purchasing additional network systems and physical devices."
"The most valuable feature of VMware NSX is the high bandwidth."
"The product has valuable features for security and network extension."
"The dashboard is comprehensive and easy to use."

Cons

"Sometimes, Airgap Zero Trust Enterprise hangs, requiring a process restart."
"One drawback is this solution requires a lot of other products in the VMware ecosystem to have a full end-to-end operation orchestration monitoring. You have to buy a lot of add-ons to fully utilize the functionality."
"The initial setup for VMware NSX is a bit complex; it's not as simple as it could be."
"I would like to have automating reporting built into common service management platforms, such as JIRA, Serviceaide, and ServiceNow."
"Traffic flow introspection topology visibility is definitely needed because at the moment, NSX-T lacks in this area."
"It could be more user-friendly, but it's manageable. When we add a specific node to this particular NSX and the configuration changes, it won't push through the errors where required, but it'll accept it. However, while using it, we will have issues. It can also be more stable."
"The support needs improvement."
"Some disadvantages of VMware NSX include a price challenge due to the high licensing cost compared to competitors, and it may sometimes require a specific skill set."
"We had some complexities implementing into the other parts of a network."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Our customers have definitely complained about its cost. It's expensive. I'd rate it a nine out of ten in terms of pricing where ten represents a high price. There are other products out there that are equally expensive."
"The solution is reasonable at the local level."
"VMware has a subscription and perpetual license. In the New Year, they're changing many things about the licensing model. Previously, NSX was licensed according to the number of sockets inside the appliance, so we bought VMware licenses based on that. However, that may have changed this year. We are still contacting the vendors to understand the new licensing strategy."
"The price of VMware NSX is reasonable."
"The pricing is higher than other options from Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Cisco because it is sold in a bundle."
"VMware has always been geared towards enterprise and their pricing options are a bit high. Their price is higher than other options in the market."
"The solution is free and the price for the support can be expensive."
"If five is a good price and one is a high price, I would rate the price a one out of five."
