I use it for. browser based systems for my own clients It's configured to make it very quick to build feature-rich systems. The only issue I would say is that they develop updates very quickly that are hard to keep up with. I have been using Alpha Anywhere for thirty years. It's stable, set up…

It has sped up the app development process, enabling us to release a public version of the app much quicker
Some aspects of VINYL are limiting from a B2C standpoint. For example, it would be nice to have more flexibility with what the VINYL parameters allow us to develop within the app. It is difficult to think of an example off the top of my head, but there have been times when we couldn't develop something a particular way because VINYL didn't support it. However, the team Zudy assigned to us has been great about adjusting and finding ways around these hurdles.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Once you get through the learning curve, you can do a lot with it."
"It's very flexible."
"The sky is the limit; it is able to pretty much do anything and everything that you thought a computer couldn't do."
"We can do things 10 times faster in VINYL than we could in Dynamics AX at a tenth of the cost."
"This is an extremely scalable solution because it enables us to interface with all types of disparate information."
"The ease of moving around the platform cannot be understated."
"VINYL's flexibility: We have been able to leverage the platform to rapidly build custom solutions, and tailor-make them to our needs."
"The Lite Integration is really the key thing. You're able to attach the Vinyl software to a variety of different systems very easily and pull data together in a way that is really difficult to do using traditional technology... Also, the fact that it's a no-code platform also makes it easier for people to understand and deal with internally, to continue to build applications and modify existing applications."
"VINYL works across different data sources, it is very useful to be able to map the data across different data sources and different environments, and it is also very easy to develop small applications within a short span of time."
"The product has improved our organization's function through all of our management reports that we do monthly are now online, on mobile applications, and ready to be reviewed by executives weeks before they previously would have been available."

Cons

"The stability of Alpha Anywhere could improve, especially from version to version. There have been several complaints that they should conduct more testing before releasing a version."
"It can be slow to develop, and it's repetitive."
"Version 2.3 has a good UI but we want a more customizable UI."
"There are some acknowledged technical limitations. I was looking to do some metadata manipulation, which is very atypical. Zudy said that they will work on building me a workaround. If there is a weakness, that would be it."
"In the beginning, we were working with it while it was still being tweaked. So sometimes things weren't working 100 percent, or they were working but, because they were being tested behind the scenes, some things were kind of funky."
"While some of the reporting functionality is adequate, reporting needs to continue to be worked on, given the fact that there are a lot of really good reporting tools out there."
"We've been on a hold with one of the products that we started with, which was one of our processes."
"Version 2.3 has a good UI but we want a more customizable UI."
"Eventually, a nicer way to create certain features, like the way that we create PDFs, would help. Sometimes the way that it resizes when I have multiple windows up, could also be better."
"The calendar has room for improvement, but that's what they're going to be working on next, to make a Gantt chart."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is mid-range.We pay only for the subscription."
"Prices vary, and they will enter into different contracts with different people."
"We also pay for the managed services help that we get from them. But, to me, it is a very effective cost model. Licenses are relatively inexpensive, then you pay by the drink in terms of the managed services that you are going to need, which has been great. We figure out where we want to apply those services and try to be pretty diligent about managing the costs there."
"Pricing was actually one of the things that drew us to the product initially... the way it was licensed at the time, I got a flat monthly fee from Zudy for the Vinyl product, which allowed me to basically have unlimited use of it... We have an annual license, we pay monthly. It's very competitive and very worthwhile given the return we get out of it."
"The licensing costs we pay are, I believe about 5,000 a month. That's every quarter. We've been doing it for about a year now, and the prices have remained steady. We feel it's a reasonable cost for what we're getting because it's unlimited users. So as big as you want to make it, you're not constrained by a per-user licensing cost or any of those other restrictions, so that's going to stifle your development."
"The pricing and licensing of Zudy are fair."
"The value for us for VINYL is that we've got one fee that we're paying per year and we can deploy and build as many apps and bring in as many users as we need."
"The pricing is moderate. It's okay."
"Compared to if I used traditional methods, such as hiring developers and setting up systems, VINYL is costing me less than half of what it would normally cost."
"We have seen a 30 percent decrease in time for some of our workflows."
