Automated complex ETL workflows have reduced coding effort and improved data integration
One area for improvement is in integrating mostly the data which comes from telemetry, where I can see some sort of improvisations can be made. It is a massive amount of unstructured data, and I believe Alteryx is able to handle it, but there can be some improvements. Suggestions for improvements in Alteryx include areas for increasing efficiency, particularly in processing telemetry data, which involves dealing with large volumes of unstructured data. Additionally, I believe when we use filter tools immediately after the input source, there can be slowdowns when handling massive data. The user experience of Alteryx is generally good, but there are areas for improvement from a user's perspective, particularly regarding user interface enhancements. I think there's always room for improvement, but otherwise, Alteryx has been a great tool for me. We haven't experienced significant disruptions while increasing data volumes, though I sense there could be performance issues as data grows exponentially. This is an area that could use improvement in Alteryx.

A solution that offers good performance, good stability, and a straightforward setup
We are a reseller of the solution. We handle on-premises deployment. The solution is very similar to IBM. It may have a bit more integration capabilities that IBM doesn't have yet, but they are similar. In terms of which would be better, it would come down to the customer's requirements. I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. All of our customers are very happy and very impressed with the product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features are the integrated properties and integrated connectivity."
"The functionality of drag and drop is the most valuable. It is a very user-friendly tool that can be understood easily. My teams also work with other solutions, such as Integration Services, and these solutions are very difficult for people who don't have technical knowledge."
"Alteryx is easier to set up and implement and allowed us to also focus on different aspects of the business."
"Geo features have made spatial mapping large retail universes possible."
"The value add of Alteryx is the agility for making changes, and speed of deployment."
"Although Alteryx is a paid software, it is equally able to provide better performance without writing a single line of code."
"Shortens the time required to start analyzing data and looking for insights, minimizing the tasks that do not add value to the business and maximizing the analysis phase."
"I think the most valuable feature is the ease of use for my business scientists."
"With regards to choosing flash versus traditional storage, it's just so much simpler to manage and users get so much better performance from flash."

Cons

"Its cost can sometimes be a drawback."
"A feature which allows the user to be able to click on an output (in a file browser) and see the creation of the module would be fantastic."
"I think sometimes the solution doesn't load properly or takes so much time for the workflows. Though the workflow runs and completes the file in Excel, if you use the same formula, it's a bit slow. Also, the image processing is not so good because I tried to do some image processing and they were like, sometimes they put two to eight. In the document, it was two, but the OCR predicted it as eight."
"It’s quite pricey for an Alteryx Designer license (~$5200 for a one-year subscription), but once you use the product, you won’t want to go back to whatever you were using before."
"It is expensive to buy additional licensing, and it is time and resource consuming to install onto our own hardware — which itself requires maintenance and administrative attention."
"The workflow and pipeline need to improve."
"More statistics tools: We can use to compare SPSS statistics with some automated advisory."
"It would be great to create the final users' visualization within Alteryx."
"The pricing model could use improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license is really expensive, we cannot afford to have two or three. It takes away all the budget of my area."
"It can be a bit pricey, especially after the first year."
"The designer license costs 5000 euros. The server edition is 1000 euros."
"Alteryx isn't extortionately expensive, but it's not cheap either."
"There is a license required for this solution."
"While it offers extensive features, including predictive analytics, for those who mainly use it for data preparation and blending, the cost can be prohibitive."
"It is too expensive for our country. We are a small country, so it is too difficult to sell this solution. With Alteryx Designer, if you want to automate the data and run the flows, you have to pay more money. We were trying to automate the flows, and we found out that people have to pay 600 more for this feature, which makes it even more expensive. We are a partner for Tableau, and we are working with Tableau Prep, which is like a mini Alteryx. In Tableau Prep, you can drag and drop and make new connections with the different data sources. You can make all the connections. You can also publish a source. You don't have to pay more money with Tableau. You pay like $5 per user per month to access it."
"In my opinion, it's actually quite expensive."
