Automated complex ETL workflows have reduced coding effort and improved data integration
One area for improvement is in integrating mostly the data which comes from telemetry, where I can see some sort of improvisations can be made. It is a massive amount of unstructured data, and I believe Alteryx is able to handle it, but there can be some improvements. Suggestions for improvements in Alteryx include areas for increasing efficiency, particularly in processing telemetry data, which involves dealing with large volumes of unstructured data. Additionally, I believe when we use filter tools immediately after the input source, there can be slowdowns when handling massive data. The user experience of Alteryx is generally good, but there are areas for improvement from a user's perspective, particularly regarding user interface enhancements. I think there's always room for improvement, but otherwise, Alteryx has been a great tool for me. We haven't experienced significant disruptions while increasing data volumes, though I sense there could be performance issues as data grows exponentially. This is an area that could use improvement in Alteryx.

Good management and pricing but not great for enterprise environments
In a high-density location, we're running into connectivity drops. There may be too many rouge devices broadcasting, and the devices is getting interference from another channel. The only to fix this is to reboot and we need something that reboots on the fly. We also need better security for VLANs and VPNs. There are issues with certain Apple devices. Technical support is not very helpful. The initial setup, which seemed straightforward at first, had to be redone. This may not have been the fault of the product. We're not sure what went wrong.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The drag-and-drop features are useful for data scientists who do not like to code because it is already in the system."
"The filtering is fast, and it provides a search tool that is great."
"The value add of Alteryx is the agility for making changes, and speed of deployment."
"It is a very user-friendly product that doesn’t require a strong technical background; you can build something within an hour."
"The most valuable feature of Alteryx is its unlimited handling capabilities."
"The solution has a very strong community that is involved in the product. It helps make the usage easier and helps us find answers to our questions."
"Alteryx significantly reduces the time spent searching for specific information."
"The ease-of-use allows non-technical business users to directly create their own solutions without the use of additional development resources."
"It's easy to manage and supports the user, our guests, and our customers if they have a problem."
"The controller makes it easy to control everything from one platform. The management is easy."

Cons

"Based on my experience, I would not recommend Alteryx to others. I would encourage developing internal capabilities over using Alteryx as a solution."
"The price is quite high, which is why there is a limitation on licenses, and not everyone has the right to use it, so if they could decrease the price, more people could use it easily."
"The screen when you are looking into your workflows and your ETL processes needs to be improved. You cannot manage it very well."
"The solution can be made more affordable."
"The workflow and pipeline need to improve."
"Although I use this product regularly, I used to code for many years and I am not a big fan of tools like Alteryx. I don't think that it's a good product, and the reason is that when the use cases get more complex, the models get exponentially larger and more complex to put together."
"Alteryx's development environment could be improved as it requires installation locally and can't be developed in the cloud."
"What they're struggling with is it's not as mature as Tableau in the user management area. It was tougher to manage the server part of it right away, especially since the user base has grown."
"It's stable, but it depends on the office and location."
"There are issues with certain Apple devices."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"ROI is huge. There are some secondary benefits, like analysts getting their post 5 PM time back or the ability to shorten all closing processes to a half or less."
"While it offers extensive features, including predictive analytics, for those who mainly use it for data preparation and blending, the cost can be prohibitive."
"A designer and scheduler for $13K/year in total is pretty much earning you the money back in time and in other resources."
"I don't know much about the licensing, but there are some additional costs for certain features."
"Alteryx isn't extortionately expensive, but it's not cheap either."
"In my opinion, it's actually quite expensive."
"The cost of the solution could be reduced."
"If one is a high price, and ten is a low price, I rate the tool's price as a one. The tool is expensive."
"There is no license. The solution is free."
