Can always access reports through intuitive dashboards that support diverse data connections
I can't specifically say how Amazon QuickSight could be improved since I focus more on using it and leveraging its functionalities. However, I could invest additional time to explore possible feedback from customers regarding their challenges. As cloud engineers, our capacity to improve is limited since AWS manages the services, but I would be open to feedback. I'm aware there are minor details that AWS could enhance, such as optimizing costs for beginners or small startups, which can be steep when trying to take Amazon QuickSight into production. Many have noticed that AWS services greatly benefit well-established companies, while startups struggle with costs as they transition data out of AWS. Understanding how AWS charges for Amazon QuickSight usage is critical for all users wanting to visualize their data effectively.

Modern analytics tool enhances user interactions with neat visualizations for improved decision-making
One area for improvement could be in offering more advanced features even in the open-source edition or making the paid versions more cost-effective. Data scalability, especially if the data grows, requires manual infrastructure management, which could be improved. Increased customization and visualization options in the open-source edition would be beneficial. Additionally, it might be helpful if more complex queries and stored procedures were supported.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The graph charts, pie charts, and box plots are valuable."
"It is notably fast in handling large data set refreshes, making it efficient for data analysis."
"The ease with which it integrates with different data sources is most valuable. Especially when everything is on AWS, it is easy to connect to the data source and organize different dashboards."
"The product is easy to learn."
"Compared to other reporting tools, it is very effective but does require an understanding of certain concepts in QuickSight. This understanding is crucial for creating dimensions, changing metrics, and visualizing reports."
"I like that with Amazon QuickSight, you don't need to install an app to use its services. With other BI tools, you need to install the app, so Amazon QuickSight is better for me in this area."
"It works well with the AWS ecosystem."
"The most valuable feature of Amazon QuickSight is its connectivity with other Amazon services."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its interface, which is used to query data into Metabase. I think it is very useful and handy for a novice."
"I rate the solution’s stability a nine out of ten."
"It is easy for a new user to learn the tool."
"Metabase's key advantage is its modern approach to business intelligence."

Cons

"One area for improvement is the cost, as it's a bit expensive."
"Compared to Power BI, I felt QuickSight lacks some features, like delayed drill-downs. Drill-downs were the main area where we found QuickSight lacking."
"It's not ideal for reports that are more complex."
"There is room for improvement in terms of the number of visualizations and dashboards that are available."
"Right now, you can't use Amazon QuickSight on other cloud providers, so I'd like it to have availability on other cloud providers. This is an area for improvement in the product. What I'd like to see in Amazon QuickSight in the future is a distributed centralized system where I can manage all reports in one place, and for Amazon QuickSight to become reporting as a service."
"There should be better connectors for different data sets."
"The product has some storage and SPICE data issues."
"The solution must be more user-friendly."
"One area for improvement could be in offering more advanced features even in the open-source edition or making the paid versions more cost-effective."
"The solution could provide more customization."
"The tool must be made more user-friendly."
"I think there is a need to add a few more advanced visuals in the tool. There are a standard set of visuals in the tool which are available."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is not affordable."
"Amazon QuickSight charges $250 per user, which becomes expensive when managing multiple departments."

"I rate the price of Amazon QuickSight a four on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."

"The product pricing is better than other vendors."
"Amazon QuickSight you subscribe and you use the service."
