The Pulse Pattern Generator and Error Detector are co-located, making it easier to use. However, I would like a better GUI.
Take a look and do some demos. It will help you decide whether to go with this equipment or not. It took us about a week to become acclimated to the solution. We are not using this product to support connected devices, e.g., IoT development, nor are we planning to going forward.

The technical support ecosystem is what really makes it good.
Because they're such a big industry standard name, their products are standardized across many customers, which is why people own these products. The customer support is very good. If you need an application to do any measurement, you can easily get a hold of people to help you with it. This is a whole ecosystem. The user interface is top-notch in the industry.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We can extract signal loss, skew, DKDF... and the tool is very flexible."
"The user interface is easy, simple, and practical."
"If your intent is to experiment with your signal to see if some boosting helps or your silicon doesn't have a lot of Tap features, then this is a good product to start with."
"The features are pretty much the same as an expensive competitor, but the price is better."
"It gives you the capability to increase the Tap levels and voltage strength more than what you have in your signal."
"The information that I can get with the VNA is useful for me to select materials, like copper, and all the information that it can provide is really useful, due to the processing of the data."
"The Pulse Pattern Generator (PPG) and Error Detector are co-located, which makes it easier to use because I can just probe it directly on the PCB."
"It supports the PAM-4 encoding scheme. We use that to do our PAM-4 receiver validation."
"The user interface has never been better; they improved it a few years ago with a more modern oscilloscope interface and it's easier to use, even for more junior people in our lab."
"The Keysight Ecal feature has made it very easy for me to do calibrations."
"The user interface has never been better. They improved it a few years ago with a more modern oscilloscope interface and it's easier to use, even for more junior people in our lab."
"When it comes to grabbing precise technical data, having an ecosystem of logging it correctly and working with the diagnostics, they are probably the industry leaders in the field."
"It can go up to a very high frequency, up to 120 gigahertz. And the user interface is really good. It's really easy to navigate."
"But I would highly recommend this product."
"While it depends on the field, the learning curve is usually really quick."
"The most valuable features are its quality and reliability... The good thing about the GUI interface which is, of course, software-based, is that you can record and save your test setup."

Cons

"I would like the frequency range to be extended because of the speed."
"I would like to see them improve the software. The new version can be improved; it's not quite stable and restarts a lot."
"The user interface is a bit complicated because they have so many tabs. If they could simplify it, this would be helpful and appreciated."
"The user interface is somewhat difficult when it comes to updates, so this is something that they need to improve. I would like a better GUI with navigation."
"I would like to see them improve the software. The new version can be improved. It's not quite stable. It restarts a lot."
"The product's antennas and radar applications need improvement."
"Right now, it's a minimal tool. They could make it more dynamic by adding dynamic features, which could help us with doing effective analysis."
"Sometimes, the forms keep changing because of new product technology. If they could reduce the amount of change in the form, this would be good."
"It needs more flexible probing solutions, especially for the complex ICs."
"While the user interface is good with respect to instrumentation, but with respect to documentation, I do not like it. Its documentation is slightly bad."
"Some of the models have only two ports. It takes much longer to use a two-port. If they had a four-port, it would be much better."
"I would like be able to measure multi-lane simultaneously. Right now, the high-performance jitter solution measures one signal. I would like to capture many at the same time."
"In terms of additional capabilities, I would like to see more touchscreen and a larger screen. That would help."
"Their GUI is not the best. They need to improve on that. I think their software team needs to put in a little bit more work on how they are presenting the application on the scope."
"I would like more customized functions, so we can do the programming and definitions ourselves."
"The technical support is okay, but sometimes they are on a different page than us. If it is something wrong with the scope, they are okay. However, if something technical goes wrong, like the calibration, it is hard to get the information that we need because it is hard to share everything and explain all the measurements in real-time."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think everyone gets a demo before purchasing."
"It is expensive, but I guess that is why it works."
"Price-wise, it is much cheaper than its competitors."
"Pricing is always expensive. It would be better if they lowered the price."
"The pricing is costly."
"It's very expensive equipment and cannot be upgraded after five years. If you buy equipment today, in five years, it won't be upgradeable. You have to upgrade it within the first five years that you buy it."
"The first version of the product is always expensive, then once there is competition, it will be cheaper."
"They're not cheap."
"We are looking at $600,000 and it's obviously expensive, but compared to others, everybody is in the same ballpark."
"The price is affordable for us, but for smaller companies, probably not."
"Our solution is upgradable. However, upgrading depends on how much money the company is willing to spend, because each upgrade will take a million dollars."
"The major factor influencing the decision-makers is the price."
"Pricing can be improved a bit. They try to make the pricing competitive but I think there are times that the competitors have good pricing."
"If we rented the product, it would be more affordable than buying new."
"While I don't have transparency on the pricing, it works within my budget."
