The technical support ecosystem is what really makes it good.
Because they're such a big industry standard name, their products are standardized across many customers, which is why people own these products. The customer support is very good. If you need an application to do any measurement, you can easily get a hold of people to help you with it. This is a whole ecosystem. The user interface is top-notch in the industry.

B-scan is its most valuable feature. However, we are looking for an Intel platform with the newest chipset.
Try it if it is within your budget. It is a good product. The learning curve is very quick. It takes about one or two days. While we have plans to use this product to support connect devices, we are not currently doing so. We are currently measuring signals from 3.0 and 4.0, and looking for 5.0.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have done some measurements and also correlated with simulation and we were able to obtain a good match, so that's a good indication of the accuracy."
"The Keysight Ecal feature has made it very easy for me to do calibrations."
"It's accurate, fast, has high bandwidth, and the PLTS is pretty convenient."
"The jitter management from Keysight is very smart, as it can capture the jitter very quickly and provide some statistical analysis, which is awesome."
"When it comes to grabbing precise technical data, having an ecosystem of logging it correctly and working with the diagnostics, they are probably the industry leaders in the field."
"The technical support is good, and it has very strong customer support. They sent an engineer to us who gave us some training and tutorials."
"I would definitely recommend trying this product."
"It breaks down all the parameters that we need to look at."
"It is easy to handle, so everyone likes to use it."
"We have multiple systems for manufacturing tests, and it's critical for our support; the support increases our productivity."
"B-scan is its most valuable feature."
"This solution provides high confidence in the data being presented in the measurement to inform a design decision going forward."
"It works really well for general lab stuff, general testing, prototype and measurement."
"Time domain measurement is very accurate compared to other devices."
"The sensitivity of the trigger and the reliability are the most valuable features, and the scopes were extremely reliable."
"The user interface is good, not very complicated, and it is very intuitive."

Cons

"I would like be able to measure multi-lane simultaneously. Right now, the high-performance jitter solution measures one signal. I would like to capture many at the same time."
"There is a learning curve depends on the client that I am working with. E.g., if I'm working with a client, and they have a test and measurement equipment company, when I go to another company, the new company may not be using the same model."
"I am not really impressed with the GUI since it has not changed in almost 20 years (since I first began using the product). While the GUI part is okay, I can live with it."
"The user interface has a load of features that come with it, which is why it is an eight out of ten."
"The user interface has a load of features that come with it, which is why it is an eight out of ten."
"Some of the models have only two ports. If they had a four-port, it would be much better."
"I would like them to build in more high-speed functions, such as FEC or PCIe Gen5, built into the array."
"I would like to see better post-processing data utility tools like a de-embedding."
"I know you can get the Bit Masks but it's generally really expensive to get the eye diagrams and Bit Masks with it."
"We are looking for an Intel platform with the newest chipset."
"I wish we could turn off the automatic measurement feature of the oscilloscope, for teaching purposes."
"Tektronix Oscilloscopes are really expensive for small businesses."
"It needs one button and every time you push it, you get whatever you need."
"I would like to see some WiFi capabilities. I would like to upgrade equipment, and if I was in the U.S., I could do that with WiFi capabilities."
"I use microservices, but you cannot really probe it, since the technology is not really there."
"They need to add more memory to this machine."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very expensive."
"If we rented the product, it would be more affordable than buying new."
"The cost is always a struggle. We always wish that we could do more for less."
"Our solution is upgradable. However, upgrading depends on how much money the company is willing to spend, because each upgrade will take a million dollars."
"The pricing is always high."
"It's very expensive because this type of equipment is not so common. For a company buying it, this is a big investment."
"The pricing is good for what they offer."
"We are looking at $600,000 and it's obviously expensive, but compared to others, everybody is in the same ballpark."
"The pricing is not too high and not too low."
"The cost has room for improvement. Though compared to other companies, it's okay."
"Pricing could be lower. I would want to buy it for an extremely, low price, but Tektronix is a high-end product."
"In the 100 gigabit Ethernet and 400 gigabit Ethernet category, everything is in the multi-hundred thousand dollar range, so it was fair pricing because everything is expensive."
"It's available on the low-end scopes for free, but on the higher-end scopes, it is expensive. Therefore, it's a bit more difficult to make stuff work."
"It's cost-effective... It might cost a lot of money, but if we need it we buy it."
"Isolated probes are good to have, as most of the scopes don't have it. It drives up the cost when you have to buy isolated probes."
"Tecktronix pricing tends to be pretty fair and reasonable with current market trends. They don't usually bump up the price too much."
