Reliable protection ensures robust network defense and simplifies DDoS management
I am not sure if we plan to use additional features because we have many vendors and platforms that we support. We use the main function and that is it. The prices for Arbor DDoS are expensive. The licensing is subscription-based. From our sales department, they discuss that prices are very high. A potential improvement could be establishing a contract with Cisco to sell via their channel. This could be beneficial because we work extensively with Cisco. If you are a Cisco partner, you can sell Arbor DDoS. That would be good for customers that are Cisco-based because many customers in Bosnia are Cisco-based customers. BH Telecom, our main customer, sells Arbor DDoS to other customers for protection. They buy Arbor and sell the product services to others via Internet links. They sell add-on DDoS protection via Arbor DDoS. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Arbor DDoS is not present in many customers. Some customers try to sell it, but they sell other vendors such as F5. Arbor DDoS is mainly seen in telecom operators but not much in other customers.

Currently, I have two firewalls, with one located in Sorocaba, model 90D, and the other in São Paulo, model 30D. They are connected by VPN. I use the firewalls for VPN and final protection for my company, and my equipment is maintained by an internet company called Multiprox The equipment works…

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The solution is flexible, easy to implement and has an efficient technical support team."
"The most valuable feature of Arbor DDoS is that it is based in most of the ISPs all over the world, and Egyptian ISPs are one of them."
"There are a number of valuable features in this product, like Cloud Signaling and Threat Intelligence feeds."
"Arbor has the ability to learn and self-create the appropriate profile for each customer."
"Arbor DDoS offers security features that automatically detect and prevent DDoS attacks."
"Arbor has a global ranking in reliability and credibility. They are very unique and can respond to a very wide scope of threats from their global deployment."
"Analytics and its attack mitigation capabilities are valuable features of the solution."
"The solution looks into volumetric attacks and gets them resolved."
"Among its key features: Detects and mitigates DDoS attacks at L3 to L7; negligible to zero false-positives; Generates and sends reports without the need for an expensive third-party solution."
"The solution is very user-friendly and very easy to use."
"The protection resources and the support are valuable features of the solution."
"The product allows the users to adjust the thresholds."
"The solution already has security profiles and it can protect from DDoS attacks and other kinds of attacks."
"The equipment works very well, and I have not encountered any issues with it."
"The most valuable feature is the cloud DDoS scrubbing capability."
"This solution can protect Layer 3, Layer 4 and Layer 7 attacks of applications for us."

Cons

"Arbor DDoS has some difficult pricing rules. For many different small features, we have to pay additional fees for every small feature."
"On the main page there are alerts that we are unable to clear, even though the issue has been resolved."
"They should improve the reporting section and make it a little bit more detailed. I would like to have much better and more detailed reports."
"Implementation could be better."
"There should be an automatic way to configure it to monitor traffic and decide which is an attack and which is not. In Arbor, you need to tweak and set all parameters manually, whereas in Check Point DDoS Protector, you can select the lowest parameters, and over the weeks, Check Point DDoS Protector will learn the traffic and you can then tighten some of the parameters to decide which traffic is regular and which is malicious."
"The solution's shortcomings are related to its documentation, so it's an area that needs to improve."
"Support in Argentina is not so good. Although the team is good, they are not fast, and they lack the skills to manage dynamic attackers."
"It is an expensive product, so there is room for improvement in terms of pricing."
"The main improvement would be to change the firewall model, however, currently, everything is fixed and working well."
"Alerts and reporting features must be improved."
"I would like to see analytics, big data."
"The product’s pricing needs improvement."
"The solution can be a little more user-friendly and it can be more affordable."
"All the thresholds that need to be configured should be included in the default so that user will not forget or misconfigure."
"The only thing they need to do is to automate it. Today, you must create tools that do not require the use of an expert or anyone with special skills."
"The web interface could be much better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing of a complete Arbor solution, including fire-walling and unified site management, can get expensive."
"The pricing of the solution is cheap."
"As far as I know, they are the best in this sector, in DDoS protection. They know it, I know, because their service prices are too high. They provide cloud DDoS protection for ISPs, but that is also too expensive."
"Because the solutions from competitors are very different, it's not easy to compare. However, the licensing from Arbor is clear and understandable and the pricing is reasonable when looking at the market, in general."
"There is room for improvement with the pricing. It is an expensive solution. The issue with the pricing is more the way it is built. Right now we're paying per router, and there's a limitation there. I would like to see bundle-pricing where there is an overall solution cost."
"Arbor DDoS is quite expensive, but all these solutions are expensive because they deal with confidential information."
"Arbor is striking a good balance between pricing and what they deliver."
"I'm a technical guy. But I know it's expensive compared to its competitors. After you have the on-premise solution, for your solution to be effective you have to subscribe to an "upper level," so there's another cost. There is also a subscription to cloud services, which is another cost."
"It's quite pricey."
"The solution is reasonably priced."
"The product’s pricing needs improvement."
