Easy to use, reliable, and simple to expand
We have used the same version for two years, however, now there's a new version, which solves a lot of problems. The solution we use that's from two years ago, has the ARIS Connect Server, the web application, and the ARIS client application. Some things you have to do in the clients, and you can't do them in the web environment. In the new version, though it's not installed by us, it's changed. You can do this. You can do almost everything in the web client. The difficulty that you have with switching between the two environments is solved in the new version. However, I haven't tested it yet. That said, that was one of the issues we had. It's a bit annoying that you have to use two environments in the older version.

Automation platforms streamline processes and offer flexibility, but AI integration and version upgrades pose challenges
In the technology world, there is always room for improvement. Technologies evolve day by day, especially with the emergence of artificial intelligence and generative AI models. Although IBM BPM is a substantial product, adopting and integrating new technologies quickly is not easy due to the migration and upgrade paths involved. Every time new versions are released, we face business and production challenges that make rapid adoption challenging. The main concern bothering me today regarding IBM BPM is the integration of AI components.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"They offer a variety of documentation, user manuals, and community forums for users to seek assistance and share experiences."
"This product is useful when you're modeling business processes; you can use all the features that your catalog has inside the modeling and export it to a BPM augmentation engine."
"It's a very easy-to-use product."
"The solution is very stable, there are no bugs or glitches, it doesn't crash or freeze, it's reliable, and the performance is good."
"Using this solution we can design our own processor governance, assign some specific technical services, and also run tests of the process to make sure it operates as we need it to."
"It is efficient in reducing costs."
"Helped our organization move from paper work to automated work."
"Our organization has improved by using IBM BPM because our development time has reduced and connectivity improved."
"The integration layer is powerful in the advanced version."
"The case management and its integration with process design are good features."
"If time matters, if your company has a lot of processes that could be automated, BPM is the right solution, definitely."
"There is information during the process that the analyst will look at, their procedures. We created a part of the application such that the business can change those procedures as needed, on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. As the reps go through the process, they don't necessarily know it's changing, they just know they have to refer to some documentation, and the business can keep that up to date."
"I have had the opportunity to work with various organizations that can be categorized as medium to large scale and was able to successfully deliver process optimization and system integrations that helped the customer increase their ROI and improve their process performance many times over."

Cons

"The solution uses a coding language for process design that is specific only to this product. We would like to see this changed to something more universal."
"There is a lot of complexity around licensing and that should be improved."
"It's a bit annoying that you have to use two environments in the older version."
"I recognize the product has areas for potential improvement similar to every tool."
"More features for user management and dynamic role change."
"There is a point where you stop, you can't scale anymore to improve the performance."
"If the processing gets better, it would be more efficient."
"From the testing perspective and minor enhancements perspective, customization is something that is a little tedious as compared to new tools. In addition, various open-source tools that are available are not working with IBM BPM."
"IBM's technical support is not enough. We don't get good responses from technical support."
"It can definitely be improved in terms of performance and stability."
"IBM BPM's UI is an area with shortcomings where improvements are required."
"Every time we tried to meet to do some upgrade of a version of the solution, it was a lot of work; even minor upgrades always required a significant amount of work in intensities and trials."

"I rate the tool's pricing a seven out of ten."
"I already compared some solutions related to business process management, and I saw that the cost of IBM BPM is more expensive compared with that of Camunda, for example."

"I think it's a reasonably priced tool, but it's important to consider which customers should buy this solution. It's designed for enterprise customers, not small ones."
"I rate the solution's pricing a four out of ten."
