Real-time network visibility has transformed how we pinpoint LAN bottlenecks and resolve issues faster
The only area for improvement is pricing. Otherwise, the tool is great. I think the pricing is acceptable. If you are working with resellers, it makes it a little bit difficult sometimes for the reseller to be able to make too much, as the margin is not all that significant. However, we are not getting rid of Auvik Network Management (ANM). That is the only thing in my opinion that Auvik Network Management (ANM) can do a little bit better on—maybe just the pricing—but it is a great tool. We are not replacing it with anything and we are not removing it at all. It is a great tool, and we are able to monitor our own internal network as well as that of our customers. In most cases, we have not had any complaints about neither from my techs or from myself about its functionality, as it works really.

A suitable choice for unified and efficient infrastructure monitoring across diverse environments providing user-friendly GUI, cost-effectiveness, and versatility
We use it for this specific client, they've deployed multiple instances of it across various locations to facilitate monitoring. To effectively monitor their infrastructure, it seems necessary to implement additional monitoring solutions for all three types of devices they have Nagios Fusion…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The automated mapping or alerting has impacted our daily operations since now we receive alerts directly to email. We don't have to wait to to get a notice from the clients."
"I have noticed specific outcomes indicating the positive impact of Auvik Network Management (ANM), as we've had clients say this is the reason we stick with you and the reason we went with you in the first place, as we heard about how proactive you are."
"We gain a real-time image of the network."
"Among the most valuable features are the hardware life cycle and configuration backups, when applicable... When it does show you the hardware life cycle for, say, a Cisco device and the configuration backup, that's the most useful aspect for me as a network engineer."
"I like Auvik's configuration backups. When a configuration change occurs, it automatically updates the configuration in Auvik. If something stops working, we can roll back to the previous configuration. That's very helpful."
"Monitoring is probably the most active thing Auvik does for us. If a particular device on the network goes down, we have that granularity to see which network element is causing the problem."
"The most valuable features of Auvik are the alerting and monitoring; those functions mean it easily more than pays for itself."
"Overall, I appreciate that Auvik Network Management (ANM) brings monitoring, mapping, alerts, traffic analysis, and configuration management into a single and easy-to-use dashboard, which saves time and simplifies day-to-day network administration."
"It is easier for client installation, and the configurations are doable even for a newcomer in the field."
"Being open source lets us customize it for our monitoring needs, saving us money."
"Nagios Fusion version 12.8 excels in user-friendly GUI design, cost-effectiveness, and ease of deployment."
"It's very easy to manage and monitor it."

Cons

"I believe Auvik Network Management could improve by providing more support for firewall devices, as this would greatly enhance its capability."
"We had some issues with the licensing. You need to pay for premium to use NetFlow, and we had a problem with them counting the same device multiple times for licensing purposes. It was a little frustrating because the Auvik database in the background didn't see it as a single device even though it came from the same critical hardware and only had one serial number. However, it was in different groups, so it was counted two or three times. It took a while to work with the accounting team to get that sorted."
"I'd like to see an improvement in how we target individual devices."
"We have some clients that are rather large and the topology display can be a little bit of a mess. For smaller organizations, Auvik is perfect... But for some of our larger clients, the topology view is almost unusable."
"If they could expand the products they support, that would be ideal."
"The global dashboard needs work, and I'm not the only one saying this."
"The user interface is not intuitive."
"The tutorial could be a little bit more comprehensive."
"Adding application performance monitoring to the product alongside infrastructure monitoring would make it a more complete and useful solution."
"Nagios Fusion should include a 'remember me' option when logging in, so we don't need to enter a username and password every time."
"In future iterations of this solution, there is a desire for more seamless integration with other monitoring software."
"There are some bugs, although not that many. There are some situations where the solution is not stable but the number of problems is not very high."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It turns out they only charge for routers and switches!"
"Given the types of alerts and the different aspects of Auvik, I think it's worth the cost that is associated with it. I don't think the cost is terribly high. The infrastructure is the core or the backbone of a business. If it goes down, then the business stops. You have to decide how much money you're going to lose if you're network is down and you can't figure out why for hours or days versus what Auvik would cost you a month."
"The pricing is by device. We have 75 devices, which is a little more than we really need. With school and volume discounts, it is still a little over $16,000 annually. Our WiFi access points are not being billed, but all our switches and routers are."
"Auvik is a cost-efficient solution for the applications we use it for."
"Its licensing is very fair. The devices that stand to gain the most benefit from this product are the ones that are billed. In the case of routers, switches, and firewalls, I won't necessarily have the ability to put a management agent on them to gather errors and activity logs. This type of solution is a requirement for me to properly monitor and manage these devices. The devices that aren't being billed are workstation servers, etc. For those devices, I can put agents on them to monitor their health. It has a fair billing structure."
"We have a lot of problems with licensing in many other solutions, but I've never run into a problem with Auvik licensing. That's a pretty good vote of confidence."
"It's absolutely worth the money. I would probably charge more if I were them. They don't charge you for anything that's not a router, switch, or firewall controller, or a network device. So, you can throw anything like servers and ESX hosts."
"I love the pricing. It makes a lot of sense. It allows you to use your own metal, which is great because it enables us to go higher-end for some clients and lower-end for others... Even having the flexibility to switch clients between the Performance (expert) and the Essentials (simple) version of Auvik, on the fly, is really unheard of."
"The pricing is quite reasonable, especially when compared to the broader market."
