Unified monitoring has provided real-time visibility and simplified network troubleshooting
One area of Auvik Network Management (ANM) that could be improved is that once it discovers network devices, the naming at times is confusing. Auvik Network Management (ANM) does not always bring out the hostname and instead brings out a generic name, which I then need to change. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could improve this aspect so that when it discovers devices, it correctly retrieves the hostname every time, it would eliminate the need to edit each hostname, especially on PCs and printers. The GUI is fine. Auvik Network Management (ANM) has a level of access control where I can manage access and control user access to Auvik Network Management (ANM) portal. The GUI is acceptable for me. Gaining instant visibility into my network health with Auvik Network Management (ANM) is easy because from the setup, it is straightforward. For instance, I manage different sites, so all I need is to install Auvik Network Management (ANM) collector on any server in the environment. Once I install the collector, I automatically start discovering devices. The beauty of Auvik Network Management (ANM) is that it separates devices into tabs for routers, switches, wireless, computers and hosts, and others. At times it might not categorize some devices properly, but I can move them to the right sub-interfaces. In terms of visibility, it is very easy and fast compared to other management solutions I have used. Most other solutions are agentless, so they do not discover much and you might need to add them manually. With Auvik Network Management (ANM), I do not need to add anything manually as it discovers and updates automatically. Using Auvik Network Management (ANM) is mostly easy. I do not have any challenges. In terms of usability, it is fine. The visibility it provides is top-notch. Deployment is also easy. The only suggestion I would make is to make some of the fonts on the images on the topology bolder. Outside that, Auvik Network Management (ANM) is fine because from Auvik Network Management (ANM) management plane, I can push configurations to my devices, do backups, and many other things. Auvik Network Management (ANM) provides a network map along with its dashboard that gives me a real-time picture of my network. I have tested the intelligence myself by adding a new device on the network and after some minutes, seeing Auvik Network Management (ANM) update its topology. Even down to VPN and SSL site-to-site VPN access to other branches, Auvik Network Management (ANM) pulls out all these connections. When I have a new engineer on my team, I tell them to look at the topology, which is the network topology there. There is no need to draw with draw.io or Visio. It is Auvik Network Management (ANM). Using the network map and dashboard in Auvik Network Management (ANM) to gain real-time visibility into my network is somewhat easy. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could work on making the pictures bolder, it would help considerably. Sometimes I need to open the topology in another tab and put it on another screen to make it bolder. If Auvik Network Management (ANM) could enhance the pictures to make them more bold, it would go a long way.

The solution is useful for monitoring network devices, but the interface is old-fashioned
The solution is useful for monitoring network devices We use it for up-and-down monitoring features. It’s an old solution. It has an old-fashioned interface. The product must provide a compliance testing feature. I have been using the solution for six years. I rate the tool’s stability a ten…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Their technical support has been crazy good."
"The ability to trace cables is the most valuable feature. The solution provides link detection and port detection features with the switches. It's invaluable to have the ability to see where one device is connected and identify the exact port without having to trace any cables."
"What I find most valuable about Auvik Network Management is the statistics it provides over the months, which are valuable to consumers. I use reporting every month for reporting to the institutions, so for me, that's the most beneficial."
"It's very intuitive. It does a good job of showing you individual nodes on the network and their relative positions to one another, with pertinent details on each node, all in one location."
"With Auvik, we monitor the heart of every client's operations."
"Auvik's cloud SaaS model saves money because we don't need to maintain devices or pay for overhead on our end."
"At this point in time, it's an invaluable piece of what we do."
"I would choose Auvik Network Management (ANM) without hesitation."
"This is a product that I can recommend."
"The solution offers very good system monitoring; it's easy to manage your network, as well as your hardware and software, and it's really useful."
"Its initial setup process is straightforward."
"The tool's UI is user-friendly, and pricing is affordable. It is very easy to deploy and learn."
"The network monitoring feature, especially, stands out to me."
"Our customers like this product due to the fact that it's quite simple and it can be integrated with other solutions that complement and complete each other."
"It is highly customizable and can be integrated well with third-party software."
"I have found that it has a good GUI and user-friendly administration."

Cons

"The performance could be better; it gets a little clunky and slow-moving at times, and I wonder if that's due to the VM or if it's just the nature of the tool."
"Integrating some LLM/AI capabilities into the product that would enable us to use natural language to query the tool and get sensible answers back would be great."
"Auvik has less AI than what's readily available. I'd like for Auvik to incorporate more AI. I'm definitely a fan of more AI being integrated."
"I think the interface is a little clunky at times, and I've definitely had some frustrations with it over the years."
"Some of the automation pieces for discovery still need a little bit more improvement."
"The mapping automatically finds all the interfaces but tags some of them incorrectly. For instance, if it can't find how a CPU interface is connected, it will use the MAC address last seen on the router and sometimes attribute cloud-connected devices to the route, but it's not actually there. That's not a true connection."
"It's okay but not perfect because I would prefer that they have longer operating hours."
"I've been finding some features difficult. It might be because I'm used to PRTG, and Auvik works differently. When it comes to monitoring a simple IP address, Auvik makes it a bit harder and more complex because you have to create a service inside the site. It's not just creating a sensor and having it ping the device. You need to go to the site and create the service."
"They need to have some automation models embedded in them."
"It's very hard to install materials. You need a lot of documentation. They should make it easier to install and configure the solution."
"Nagios Network Analyzer should integrate an application monitoring solution to monitor application bandwidth usage."
"It has an old-fashioned interface."
"The graphics and reports can be a little bit better."
"There are some loopholes you need to be aware of from a security perspective."
"The bandwidth for its front-end version needs enhancement."
"There is room for improvement on the setup side."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its licensing is very fair. The devices that stand to gain the most benefit from this product are the ones that are billed. In the case of routers, switches, and firewalls, I won't necessarily have the ability to put a management agent on them to gather errors and activity logs. This type of solution is a requirement for me to properly monitor and manage these devices. The devices that aren't being billed are workstation servers, etc. For those devices, I can put agents on them to monitor their health. It has a fair billing structure."
"I don't know anything about its pricing, but I would say Auvik is worth it."
"Compared to other products, Auvik's pricing is more feasible since you get all its features. You pay for licenses on a per network device basis. It monitors hypervisors, but does not bill for that. There are no additional costs, which is something that I like."
"I can't speak to the cost; I'm an engineer. Auvik has a subscription-based pricing option, and the other solution we evaluated had high upfront costs."
"It's priced fairly, avoiding any underestimation of its value."
"The pricing could be tiered so that you get a discount for more devices. We're fairly early on in the billing process, but it could be slightly cheaper."
"Auvik's pricing is very competitive compared to other network management solutions."
"The cost for all the devices that we were billed at in my last job was about $2500 annually. It wasn't much. It has the most reasonable pricing as compared to any product out there. I can't complain. It is amazing. It allows me to bundle inside the package what I charge customers per user per month. I don't charge them per device anymore. That's not how we do things in the industry. It is per user per month. The way Auvik is charging us allows me to do it. For example, if they charge $250 for a certain number of seats, I'm just going to write the costs onto per user per month. I have a few leftover licenses to use, which allows me to go out and make some more sales and give some freebies at some shows. So, it makes me very flexible. I am very happy with it. It is billed by network devices. You could choose which billable device you want. What is really nice is that if you don't want one switch to be billable and the other one to be billable, you can do that. You just won't have the features that the billable switch has, which isn't horrible. Sometimes, you don't need that. What I'm really happy about is that Auvik doesn't force things on you and doesn't say, "You have to have all of this," and that's a great business model."
"The solution is cost-efficient."
"They charge around ten thousand per month for one thousand nodes. That is their overall cost, but it differs on which company you are applying to, whether you are a service provider or an enterprise."
"I rate Nagios Network Analyzer's pricing a six out of ten."
