Automated backups have strengthened governance and compliance while simplifying recovery
AWS Backup offers several valuable features. I think the fact that it is an AWS organization-wide service is significant. It is a centralized management system that allows me to manage AWS Backup policies, retention periods, and monitoring from a single place instead of configuring these backups for each AWS service. This helps with governance and control. Another feature I appreciate is the integration with AWS Organization, which allows backup policies to be applied consistently across multiple accounts, which is very important for large organization environments where governance and compliance are critical. I also appreciate the automated backup plans that reduce operational overhead and ensure resources are protected without relying on manual intervention. Additionally, cross-account and cross-region backup support improves resilience against accidental deletion, ransomware, or regional outages. The compliance and reporting features help provide visibility into backup status, recovery points, and policy adherence, making audits much easier.

Automated backups have protected critical files and restore deleted SharePoint data quickly
The features of Datto SaaS Protection that I have found the most valuable and useful so far include performing a backup every four hours, so I can look at multiple versions of that file and find the most compatible version that I need. There are many choices for the file, making it a nice broad choice. The automated backup feature helps my data protection strategy by giving me confidence that we will not lose any data if there was ever ransomware or if we had someone who was wanting to do harm with our system; we would be able to restore our data. The usefulness of advanced search in Datto SaaS Protection is that I can always find the file that I am after, and it is quick to find files. Datto SaaS Protection's point-in-time restore feature has been effective in recovering data so far; every time I have looked for something, I have been able to find a version for it, and it is soon recovered. It is fast and will recover any size of data. Datto SaaS Protection's reporting tools have helped maintain data protection transparency in my organization by giving me confidence that our data is there and it is being backed up.

Pros

"AWS Backup has positively impacted my organization by helping with compliance and reporting, which is usually a headache for any organization."
"The customer service is top-notch, rated ten out of ten."
"It is an easy-to-use solution."
"It is highly scalable for both SMEs and large enterprises."
"AWS Backup has helped our organization by overall increasing our disaster recovery capabilities and allowing us to support different disaster recovery scenarios."
"When I was using an on-premises backup, there was an external hard drive or something like that, and I had a backup server, but I had a few problems related to transfer when I had to restore something that I have deleted, as I had to wait for after-office hours to do something like that, but now I just have to send a mail and within one hour I have my restored file."
"What I like about AWS Backup is its simple approach to a complex problem."
"The auto-scaling feature and the time efficiency of setting up AWS Backup are the most valuable aspects for us."
"The automated backup feature helps my data protection strategy by giving me confidence that we will not lose any data if there was ever ransomware or if we had someone who was wanting to do harm with our system; we would be able to restore our data."

Cons

"One of the limitations of AWS Backup is that it only does file-based copying."
"The support people face some challenges in coming on for remote sessions. They always prefer giving some logs."
"The AWS Backup backend reporting is a major area that needs improvement. We would be very excited if we can see some reporting, such as trends. We do understand that there are reports available for S3 Bucket, in which the AWS backend stores the data. However, if we can receive holistic reporting, then it would be very helpful for us."
"The time it takes to complete the backups could be reduced."
"The tool is a good fit if your environment is VM-specific. However, it might not be the most suitable option if you have physical servers or an on-premise setup."
"If AWS could also add some hybrid cloud features to AWS Backup, that would be a significant improvement. For example, currently, AWS Backup only backs up to the S3 and Amazon Cloud, and you can only restore from the Amazon Cloud only. However, some people have hybrid environments. They have some workloads on-premises and some workloads in the cloud."
"The AWS Backup backend reporting is a major area that needs improvement."
"There are some limitations to partial backup in AWS Backup."
"Datto SaaS Protection could be improved by addressing the issue that when you look at the cutting time and go to another time, it does not take you back to the same location."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"AWS is more expensive than some competitors like Azure."
"It's a myth that Cloud is cheap. Cloud is cheap initially, but the cost over time can be equal to your own infrastructure if you consume a lot."
"Its price is much cheaper than some vendors but more expensive than others."
"Price-wise, I rate the solution a six out of ten. One only has to pay for the storage cost of AWS solutions, which is the standard cost provided by AWS."
"There is a lot of flexibility with the services and pricing. The price is reasonable when compared to other products. This is very good for us."
"AWS Backup is free of cost, but we need to pay for the backup storage being used."
"The pricing is decent."
"AWS Backup is a very cheap solution."
